hmmmm...I'd like to see what the outside of the proposed building looks like.

Looks awfully tall to me, maybe a little out of character. 2008 seems unbelievably optimistic for completion. Also odd that this would have come from somewhere other than Disney, so I'm still a little suspect.
If it is true, I shudder to think about the point cost for their rooms! And the pool seems a little small for a building that size.

Art it is supposedly 15 stories tall and the designer has worked with Disney before as for the 08 completion I am speculating that would be for a woring model to blueprints type of thing not for completion of the resort if this is to be the next DVC. Rumour has it point cost will increase to 120.00 a point not sure what per night point costs would be for the rooms. I think the semi circle design detracts from what is an icon in Disney resorts that being the A framed Contemp it was afterall one of the first 2 resorts built at the WDW resort area. I also pulled this from another site that has some great DVC info on it.

Looks like they have a little history with Disney & CR.
Also to be rumoured this announcement will drop in early OCT along with the supposed possability that DVD will sell of the DVC ownership to an outside company. That last part I find hard to believe myself DVC is a cash cow for the Disney Company.

I really hope that last rumour has not truth to it I would hate to have DVC owned by say RCI or some other company. Could you imagine all teh headaches then with other RCI members trying to tie up time at Disney you would never get a room.
mickeywho?

Okay am I looking at this clearly? In the picture on the left the left building is the current "giant toaster" with an added half round building on the right - connected to each other by monorail. The rounded building is the new build? It looks about the same height as what is currently there. Although the building looks more like an apartment complex than villas. Notice the status is still in design phase- could be a few more drawings before anything is final.

It's bad enough now with just the DVC members!
It's wouldn't be Disney to Me anymore!

The construction company did a build at teh Contemp for the convention centres inside the round building is connected via a causeway not a monorail but they made it look like a monorail track in teh drawings.

Oh my that just doesn't look like it 'fits' together.
There goes the neighborhood for sure!! People complained enough about SSR - at least they will have a NEW DVC to complain about if this one comes up!!

We just became members, but I would say that if DVC is sold to an outside company, we would sell. The whole reason why we purchased was that it was a different timeshare company than the rest! However, I don't believe this sale to be true as it's hard to believe that Disney wouldn't want the money and more importantly, control the 'experience'.
On the new DVC resort, I think if this is true, it's not really that ugly. It looks very similar on the outside to the Contemporary. Some people also think that is ugly. I'm not so sure we are going to get that excited about this resort (if true) as it's not really 'our thing'. Now if there is one built where the little runway is, now your talking. Disney will have more room and be able to create a nice theme. I think the contemporary site would be extremely expensive for dues as well. I'm sure Disney would want members to pay for part of running the monorail. Maybe this is a way to fund expansion of it ;)

Yep they took the images down from teh link which tells me one of 2 things this is going to be the final design and it was posted to their website unintentionally or they are still working on designs. Either way somone has thier butt in a sling over the pics being posted to their website.

Actually on the contrary I think dues would be lower yes a portion of the monorail line would come out of dues but a very minimal part of it plus the landscaping and roads portion of the dues would also be very negligeble as there really aren't any internal roads and the landscaping is allready pretty much in place what there is of it at the Contemp.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when that call from Disney came in about the designs being posted on their website LOL. If that is/was the final design I wonder just how much that will cost the company for leaking it early I bet it is going to be a pretty penny if that is the case. I found a link to the images if anyone is interested it is over at M O U S E O W N E R S there is a whole thread about this Contemp DVC design going on in teh rumours section.

So my fellow DVC owners how do you feel about teh new policies well original policies now being enforced by DVC in regards to Member services? Only members can now call so if you were to rent points the renter can't call to verify the reservation like they used to be able to do and that they are now enforcing the one transfer per year wether it is a transfer in or out you are only able to make 1 transfer wether it is for 1 point or 1000 points you only get to make one now which is how it always was but they never enforced it but now are.

Well I totally agree about "renters" not being allowed to call MS! Renters should not have the phone # in the first place. Our dues pay for that privelege of calling.
If a person wants to rent, then take it right thru to the end! Do All the Arrangements, from start to finish.
I'm still not understanding the transfer thing. Is that from member to member or your own contract to contract?

1 transfer wether it is between your own contract or from member to member you only get one transfer either in or out no matter how you do it. I supply my renters with the number to MS and confirmation number so they can call and confirm the reservation it is much easier than trying the whole 3 way call etc. The only people that will really be affected by the members only calling are the people in the US due to them needing thier social security number to verify them as the oly thing they have ever asked me to verify me is my address and phone number which my renters will have in the contract so they can still call and confirm their reservation if they wish to.

Majority of pts are at BCV and the rest at SSR.
I guess now I have to really make sure that I use most of my BCV and then try to use my SSR! Oh Well!

I am guessing it was to try to curb the rental of points by people that have large numbers of points at all teh different resorts I know some people that have 3000 plus points across the resorts not like I will ever have that many points LOL but that is my view on why they are starting to tighten the reins on this activity.

Works for me I usually book about 15-20 days off work for our Disney holidays this gives me a few days before and after to get packed and unpacked the last few trips I haven't had the time off prior but got it after the trip so it wasn't to bad.
