I am lucky enough that I still got to go to work today! Yay me! So I am not enjoying it so much. :rolleyes: This time last year I was in Florida after getting snowed in for a day at the Oklahoma City airport. I am thinking that this type of weather is becoming a habit around these parts this time of year. Better start thinking about moving to Florida.:beach:

Just finished reading through (most of) this thread. Love all of the art that's been posted!

I currently have one tattoo (a stylized maple leaf on my right shoulder blade), but I'm planning on getting at least one more, this time, Disney inspired. Problem is, I still have no idea what I want to get... or where to get it.

I'd like some place that is easy to cover because of my job (I work in a pharmacy), but I'd also like someplace that can be shown of when I want to, and that I can see, since the one on my back is always covered unless I'm wandering around shirtless, which I tend not to do (not to mention that I can't see my back). I also think I want something bigger this time, which rules out a lot of areas.

I've got my wife drawing out random ideas, so hopefully I'll be able to come back one day with something more concrete :-)

When I came home from doing my internship, the thing I missed most was watching Wishes! almost every single night. And so, I took my favorite lyric, "just believe" along with those Disney "shooting stars" that you see on cups and napkins and such and combine the two:

Easy thing might be either adding color to the items..... or you could do something like a pixie dust border or some other framing type idea. without knowing exactly how big and where you want it, it's kinda hard to picture ways to 'plus' it without ruining the vibe or making it too large/noticable.

I believe I'm going to have it made with tiny little gem stones adding up to the outlines of the peace, love & mickey symbols!
Peace and Mickey are going to be grey/silverish and the heart in some nice shade of red :hippie: all of them with white highlights.

Honestly, i'd probably figure out where you want it, and how big you want it. As your first tat, that would be a big thing which could help you narrow your choices.

In general, The larger the space you have to work with, the more detailed you can be. Fine lines can have a tendency to "fatten" or lose some definition, so if you are wanting a small tattoo, you wouldn't necessarily want to get something with a lot of detail that wouldn't scale into that smaller space.

The other thing to decide is what is your pain or time tolerance for getting it? Lots of color can add lots of time as they color it in.

Also Cost would be an issue. Larger / more colorful can translate into more cost.


You can see my tattoo in my avatar. It's a pretty simple design taken from the old JII icon which I placed on my shoulder. As i've debated getting another tattoo, one of the ideas that has come up is to build off the existing tattoo. Depending on the design or tattoo you get, you could think of something that might work nicely in stages or be built off of.

I LOVE the ideas of the above two! (Sorry can't quote the photos till i'm at 10 posts) The ears you would need to have pretty large to get all the detail in, how big are you wanting? Any way you can customize your design the better, then you have something truly unique that you'll love! Great ideas! Can't wait to see what you chose :yay:

I made it to 10 posts! :cool1: Here's the photo of my Disney tattoo, I wanted it a little smaller but I have pretty narrow wrists so it needed to be a certain size so the script won't bleed together over the years. The bird is to do with where I come from and the two stars represent my 2 families :hug:

Oh me too! Maybe if it wasn't for my profession, I would do it.....it's kind of frowned upon for teachers in my district to have visible tattoos....but I do show off the Mickey on my foot when it's warm!!

Love the pic but I think it may have too much detail for such a small area. Over time it will probably start to look like little blobs. That is what my tattoo artist told me when I was looking at something very detailed for a small area.

unless you're doing a back pc you need to simplify it maybe look at outlines of the park features

find a tatoo artist you respect and ask for advice and a sketch before you commit

I've been looking around this forum for a while now and I have to say there are a lot of lovely tattoos on here!
I've been thinking of getting a Disney tattoo for a while (I already have several non-Disney tattoos) and I finally decided to just go for it.

I think your idea is beautiful! Its going to make a great arm band, but I agree be careful with the smaller details incase they bleed together over time, your artist sounds great so they'll give you the best advice! :goodvibes Post a pic when you've had it done, I can't wait to see!

I just love Oliver & co! We had a cat named Oliver when I was young, and I absolutely loved that cat.
He died 10 years ago and I was thinking about getting a memorial tattoo for about a year.
So I finally decided to go for it and I'm very happy with it!

Peter is great at fine line tattoos (well he is great at all tattoos lol). I just found out that he moved to the states and now has a shop in Savannah. I just can't fathom why they would have a copyright issue with tattoo artists if they do not provide the service. Oy!

You should definitely go for it! And no, Disney does not sponsor a tattoo artist (but how cool would that be?) As far as copyright issues and artists refusing to do certain designs.. that is all hit or miss. I haven't heard anything recently about artists refusing disney, though. I would call first and ask. When it comes to finding a good artist, that's where doing your homework is important. I'd google tattoo shops in the area and see the reviews or stop in for samples of their work.

Make sure that the pictures are on a photo hosting site that allows public viewing of your pictures. Then either use the "Insert Image" button at the top or make sure you've got & at the beginning and end of the url for your picture. HTH

Thanks for all the replies on my tat. I was in little nerves about SSE. luckily my artist know what to do to make it look awesome. My DS16 likes the firework the best too. I could never think of one character I likes the best. It's fun to all a lot of little ones.

VERY COOL! I love that idea.... as I was getting caught up and reading of your ideas, I kept picturing the Characters in the Air balloon... (Is that what that thing is called at DTD now? With all the silhouettes of the flying characters on it.. I kept thinking what a great idea that would be for an arm band, and I think you kinda did that! Awesome!

Ok. Here's some far away pictures. As you can see I have A LOT of scars on this arm. If you want to know I fall off a bar bring recess when I was at school in the 3rd grade. I dislocated my elbow really bad. My elbow was up by my shoulder. I've had like 15 surgery on it. This last May I got a completely new elbow. I would love to tattoo my whole arm to cover them up, but I think it would hurt too bad. Hopefully people will see this tat not the scars. But I doubt it. :rolleyes:

I go through phases with mine. I've been contemplating the black outline of a Mickey head for a year and a half. I came up with the idea when I was eighteen, wanted to wait a year to figure out if it was something I really wanted, and then I still couldn't bring myself to do it!

Mostly because my mom and dad would kill me. They're old fashioned and they hate tattoos and I think my dad cried when my older sister came home with her first tattoo.

I have days where I am ready to drop everything and go get it- but I fear needles and disappointing my parents and so I always back out.

I am totally digging this!!!

My tattoo artist (who did my Chip & Dale tattoo) has a large cheshire cat on his arm, and also a small Alice similar to the alice in your tat. I loved that he is a Disney fan, so I couldn't have picked a better artist to do my tat. He changed shops, too, but we hunted him down in New Orleans. If I ever get another Disney tat, I'm sure I will have him do it.

I got to brown belt and am no longer training in that style, so I'm thinking about covering it up with a simple mickey head. It's 1 1/2 inches across and tall so would make a fairly large mickey head. If I can cover it with color I might go with a stitch. Sadly the tattoo parlor I went to is now closed so I will have to find a new place to do it.

That was a part of your life...even though now it's not, it was an important part of who you are. Why not keep it, and put Mickey ears on either side, with some type of disign that represents your life now?

Yep, I'm familiar with this pin set (from HKDisney, I believe), and have contemplated getting them done myself. I think there is a profile Mickey, a Mickey head, a Donald profile, a Minnie profile and a Stitch full-body. They are pretty cool! Looking forward to seeing your pics!

My tink is in memory of my Mom. She loved Tink and passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. The mushroom Tink is sitting on are actually from a tattoo my Dad got for my Mom while they were dating. My new Disney Tattoo!! The main part of the design is a replica of a henna tattoo that I got done on my last trip to Disney at the Morocco Pavillion...I liked it so much I made it permanent! The hidden Mickey ears and the "Just Believe" I added to the design myself.

Thinking of getting another Disney one soon and maybe something to go with it from Alice just not sure yet since there are so many great options from the movie.

Was this your first and might I ask how much it hurt there on your foot? I have 2 tattoos - one on the back of my neck and one on my right shoulder blade, but I'm scared that on the top of my foot would hurt worse - but I'd love to have one there!

Oh another tattoo in reference to the one you have would be fanastic!! May I suggest a quote from the movie to dance around the one you have? I love words incorporated with tats!! Just my HO! haha!

I have 2 other tattoo's-1 on my back right in the middle going across the spine, the other on my hip...I have a high tolerance for pain and I can say this really didnt bother me except for when it hit a nerve and my foot would twitch...I really wouldnt say any of my tats "hurt" and definitely not one more than the other...maybe just more of an uncomfort if anything. This tat cost me $120 but I live in NY where everything is overpriced. You could prob get something similar cheaper somewhere else.

Hi! Subbing to this thread, and saying what awesome tattoos everyone has! My DH's birthday was yesterday, and I got him (funding for) a new tattoo. He's been wanting to get our 2 DD's initials, and last night he thinks he finally came up with his design - a Minnie head outline, just the head and the red/white bow, with the girls initials in either ear in the Disney font. Now I'm looking around for inspiration to come up with the perfect design.

And of course, as I'm looking for him, I'm wanting a new one for myself!!! For at least a year I've said I want to improve on one of my existing tattoos - a little ladybug on the top of my foot. I'm not sure what I want to do with the ladybug, but I know I want a vine that has a hidden mickey in it, and most likely my girl's initials, too.

Can't wait to see more of everyone's pics, and can't wait to share my own!!

Lovin' all the new tattoos on here. I can't wait to post up a new one! I had to postpone my appt. due to knee surgery...I didn't know new tatts + surgery = NONO! :sad1: oh well I'm trying to be patient now, but all these great tattoos and ideas being posted are making me antsy! I will post a new one my wife is getting on June 11. She won't say what it is other than it being Disney and something to do with me! :goodvibes

I did have complications with the Italian Mickey on my foot because I didn't keep it clean enough, it got infected and swelled up to 3x size by the time we returned home from Vegas. I spent another $150 on a doc visit and antibiotics!

Just make sure if you get one on your foot you take proper care of it because being on your foot, it seems to be more subjected to dirt and germs than other parts of your body.

The pain of a tat is addictive. Get one, you want more. When the artist starts you think "Why in hell made me want to do this again?" but then the pain is over as soon as the tat is done.

I am going with another quote by Walt Disney instead...but now it has to wait since I just got a Disney tat on my foot!
