Wow! All of these tattoos are amazing! I wish I wasn't such a chicken, or I would get one for myself! Specifically, this one, only a bit smaller and on my back somewhere:

DH just got the tattoo Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp has:

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b350/jedilibrarian/0802061307.jpg

I  that one! So cool!

Does anyone happen to know if the temporary tattoo/henna tattoo stands at WDW offer this design? I'd love to get one on my next trip if they do. At least until I can get the guts up to get a real one. :rotfl:

Bummer! Are there any other henna stands? I thought I heard of one in AK and one at CBR, but that was a long time ago. Does anyone know if they are still there, or if they ever really existed? I really, really want that tattoo now!

I found this. Jackie, this looks the same as your Mickey head. This is from a scrapbook punch you can buy -

http://www.franticstamper.com/image/access/PUNCHES/eksuccess/EK-DPM-03.jpg

This might be the one! I just can't find a hidden Mickey in flowers like I wanted.

this reminds me of my mickey tattoo! Although mine came from a pair of Mickey underwear i own:rolleyes1

micknpluto, it is similar! I still haven't gotten it yet - still can't decide, but DH pulled out his tattoo artist's card the other day and left it on the counter. It just keeps calling me name... :lmao:

Ok - the appointments have been made for Wednesday night.
My husband and I have been talking about getting tattooos for years. We were going to get them while in Disney next month, but I felt more comfortable going to a place I was able to check out ahead of time.

My huband has no idea. I would love to see more pics of Disney tattoos. My plan right now is to get a Mickey outline (3 non attached circles) with a tiny shamrock in one of the ears. We'll see . . .

If I don't chicken out, I will post pics this week.

I have one tattoo. It's on my lower back--it's the superman logo with some vine thingys coming off of it. Superman and Mickey are my favorite things so I am thinking about going back and having hidden mickeys added to this one.

I know it was talked about on the podcast (at least I think it was) that you wouldn't want to get a tattoo in Orlando on vacation...but if you were to get one...does anyone have any recommendations for Disney proficient tattoo artists in the Orlando area?

Here's mine! Just got it last night so sorry it's still a lil swollen and red! Sorry the photo's not too good. Couldn't get a good one without a glare! The dots around her are pink and white pixie dust which you still can't tell because it's puffy.

This is a great thread! I've enjoyed all of the pics, stories, and info. I particularly love the tattoos that are symbolic of something else to tie into the Disney love! Awesome.

I'm turning 40 soon and I am getting my first tattoo. I'm going to get it on my foot. It will be an original design but will incorporate pixie dust and a hidden Mickey. I'll post it in early December! Wish me luck. :thumbsup2

I just got another one on my other foot(my other two are on pg 13 in this thread). It says "Believe" in really pretty script(in black) and it's shaded in pink. I plan on adding a Mickey head to it soon. I don't have pics of it right now, but I love it. Tattoos are SO addictive. I have many more ideas in my head, mostly involving Disney(would LOVE to have a black and white Walt portrait somewhere), but I'd love to get one having to do with my grandpa and one having to do with John Lennon(I'm thinking of his own "self-portrait", if you know what I mean). I was just thinking of this thread last night. Glad to see it got pulled back up. I think it's one of my favorite threads here!:)

Here's the short answer. YES.

The long answer... I have a tattoo (http://www.niftastic.net/~odathi/images/dragonredone.jpg) beneath my ankle edging onto my foot that the tattoo artist said is actually a foot not an ankle tattoo due to the placement. Now, he was doing a cover-up/re-do job on it, which means he also had to work through scar tissue. But I tell you what, it hurt like the dickens! I've since gotten one on my back (my userpic (http://www.niftastic.net/~odathi/images/babydragontat.jpg)) and that didn't hurt half as much. It still hurt (all tattoos hurt!!) but it was tolerable pain. With the foot tattoo, it was hard to keep my foot still enough for the guy to work on it!

Also, I got a tattoo on the top of my foot and it was sore. Bits, which were close to the bone hurt like hell(!) but then some bits didn't hurt at all. It was weird, it would go from really painful to just a light scratch. Mine is only "Carpe Diem" though and it only took 5 mins.

When I got my tattoo on my foot, 13 little blue stars, it didn't hurt that much. I have 4 other tattoos and I can honestly say that the foot one hurt the least of all of them...and I have a fairly low tolerance for pain, btw, the others are on either side of my shoulder and one on each side of my chest, so anyway, I didn't think the foot was too bad at all.

Well, this has been in the planning for a while...

My Grams, bless her soul, passed away this March at a young(er) age from COPD... Grandma loved Pooh Bear and everything about Winnie the Pooh.

Here's a pic of Grandma and my little girl our last trip to DisneyLand...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/hopescry/Disney050620.jpg

And here's a pic from our other trip- we went at Christmas to DL...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/hopescry/Grandma.jpg

So yesterday, I loaded up me, my Mom and my little sis (she's going on 20) into the car and we all went and got this exact same tattoo... (Except mine is black and white and theirs are in color- oh, and I added the halo while he was working on that tat- my Mom doesn't know that yet :rotfl: )

Sorry- it's not the best photo, but it's not easy trying to get a shot of your OWN leg!

I don't have one YET. I'm waiting for my boyfriend to decide what he wants to get, because we're going to get them done together. (nothing with each other's names...don't worry. :thumbsup2 )

THe one I want to get is going to be one my left wrist and say
'once upon a time' in white ink (like lindsay lohan's that says 'breath'). I want the font to be some type if really swirly script.
I want it in white because it won't be completely obvious, and at my job you aren't allowed to have visible tattoos, so it would be easy for me to hide. And I want a hidden mickey somewhere in there, like maybe dot the i with a mickey head, or a mickey head coming from the swirl in the O.

My dad's got a couple of tattoos, none really Disney related but this one is SOMEWHAT Disney related;

Ok, I have wanted a Disney tattoo for age, but here is my situation:

I already have a dolphin tattoo on my upper outer thigh (I work with dolphins, so I love it and it fits me...it is small...maybe 2 inches). When I had my first child, I added a little baby dolphin swimming along side the larger dolphin.

So, I want to add something Disney, but I don't want a whole new tattoo in a different location, etc. What would your suggestions be? What could I add to my already existing 2 dolphins? Not interested in Ariel (love her, just don't want her on my bod forever...lol!)

Fun thread!

How about Nemo, or one of Nemo's friends? Or one of Donald scuba diving (Philharmagic)?

One is Tigger on my left shoulder , eeyore and butterflies on my lower back, and Tink on my left ankle with Pixie dust she is "throwing" all the way down to my toes.:goodvibes

The others are a cat face on other ankle, and a skeleton key with angel wings on my shoulder blades(memorial tat because my dad recently passed away and he was a locksmith and left me the family biz)

I love tats, and I have them in really tasteful places.

I want a Cheshire cat and The Wicked Queen next....but running out of room! LOL

I have been thinking of getting a tattoo for awhile now. My birthday was yesterday, and when I opened up a card from my dh and dd, there was a gift certificate for a tattoo parlor!! All they said was they were sick of me talking about it and just go do it - LOL. Now comes the fun of finetuning a design I have been thinking about - of course it includes a hidden mickey!!!!

Make sure you post a picture when you get it done!

Can anyone recommend a decent parlor in Kissimmee or Orlando?
I have a tattoo I am working on that is a post with street signs that say the location and the number of miles back to my home town. Kind of like the one they had in MASH for those who remember. I really only need to add a sign post with WDW on it and the miles but since it is our third trip (and not the last) I may end up doing something more intricate.
I wish wish wish I could get one done on Main St. Disney could make a fortune having animators do tats!!

I would love to have some kind of image of the castle...maybe even with wishes going on in the background. I'm concerned about how big it would need to be though. Hmmm. Sounds good, but in reality I'd probably chicken out completely or just get a little mickey head somewhere. Has anyone ever seen a castle tattoo?

My girlfriends and I all got our very first tattoos (not Disney) last year for our 40th birthdays while we were celebrating in Orlando last year. We went to InKredible Ink on International Dr. in Orlando. They were very nice, the place was clean and some of the artwork we saw this was terrific.

They have a website with artist galleries.....it is inkredibleink.com
Yes we did call ahead just to make sure they could accommodate all 7 of us. Our tattoos are not very large and only took about 20 minutes each. We went in with a rough idea of a design that we came up with and they really enhanced and made it awesome. Good luck. Oh, we were staying at the Marriot Grand Vistas and we had asked the concierge there if they could recommend a place, we also asked the bartenders that worked at the pool there, and they both gave us this place.

Here's my newest tattoo... Lilo & Stitch inspired! It's just the outline so far, I can't wait to get the color in it. It's on my right shoulder.
I got it because 1. The hibiscus is my grandma and my favorite flower 2. My family is very important and 3. Ohana=family, and that came from Lilo and Stitch! So I got my Disney inspiration there! :)

I go to a place called Scratch the Surface on I-Drive for my tats. Though I don't have any Disney ones yet, they are very good there. You can generally do walk-ins, unless it's a weekend, the place is bright and clean, and the artists are friendly, if a bit weird. I had heard they were working on a website last time I was there, but I haven't been back in months, so I don't know.

I suppose you could always do a Google search and see if anything comes up.

The one I get last summer was a copy of a Donald Duck pin. It turned out very well.

Funny story (to me at least). While waiting in line to go through the finger scanner at EPCOT, a man behind me said he thought it was pretty cool and wanted to know how long it took to wash off. It took him by surprise when I said it wouldn't.

I got asked something like that right after I got my ambigram tattoo done. I was standing outside the local mall and some guys saw the tattoo on my leg and said "wow! That's so awesome, is it real??" I just laughed and said yes. Questions like that always crack me up.

Well, i recently got a new tattoo, and since this post recently was revived, thought i would post it.

The artwork was done by Brianna Garcia (http://bri-chan.deviantart.com), and the tattoo was done by Robbie Koch (www.coontattoo.com).

The picture was taken when it was fresh, so the redness (especially on the front of jessica's dress) will fade.

Every tattoo on here so far is amazing! How did you all decide on exactly what you were going to get?! I know I want to get something Disney related but also with some initials of loved ones who have passed away included, I just don't know how to combine the two yet. Did any of you find ideas online? Both of mine have been picked because of hobbies. My first, a maple leaf with a volleyball inside, was picked when I was selected to coach at the Canada Games.

The second, Donald, was selected because I had become a huge WDW fan and wanted another tattoo. Donald is one of my favourite characters so I searched for images of Donald through Google Images and came across the Donald Pirate pin.

If this is the guy I think it is, he was on Opie and Anthony a few years back. I think he's a mailman from somewhere around Ohio or Michigan maybe. He had stated at that time that he was banned from the parks for a bit because he had told someone there that he wanted to have his ashes scattered over the magic kingdom when he passes away.

Well,I have an appointment tomorrow, but have run into a bit of a snag. I had a total hip replacement two years ago, and my ortho advises against getting the tat. Seems he is worried of a blood infection that will go directly to my hip and undo all the surgery - he says to really think about it - if it's worth the risk. Now I am all nervous about getting one. How common are these infections, and have any of your heard of someone with one? I ended up designing a ladybug, but her spots are hearts (I call my dd luvbug) and one of the spots is a hidden mickey. The tattoo artist took my design and tweeked it really nice with some scroll work around it -very feminine and pretty. Another problem I ran into is hearing that red is the one of the worst colors to get because of allergic reactions to the color (boy do I sound paranoid or what LOL!!) I figure I can always color the ladybug pink - my favorite color - in case I might be allergic. Help!! - I was looking forward to this for so long and now I'm a bundle of nerves!!

I'm getting two on monday

I have two tattoos already. I have never once heard of anyone getting an infection from a tattoo if they picked a shop that was clean. I'm sure that infections from tattoos exist but out of all the stories about tattoos I've read and all the friends I have with tattoos I've never heard anything like that. Just make sure the tattoo shop you are going to is clean! Ask them to show you where they clean their tools and also make sure they open a NEW needle in front of you! Also, I have never heard of anyone being allergic to a specific color. :confused3 But, all I have is black so far. I'm getting my first color tattoo on Monday and it will probably have red in it. I think you would be alright if you do your research but don't do it unless you are absolutely sure you want to. If you do get it we want to see pictures though

I have 3 tattoos that were done by a very clean shop (new needles, autoclave machines, the artists always wear gloves and change them out should they take breaks, etc). One of the tattoos I had was done in stages over several hours as well. Never had a problem until last year.

The last tattoo I had done was on my calve, and it got infected. Aside from weeks of pain and suffering (think burning, terrible itchiness, and lots of yellow pus) I can tell you I spent nearly $1,000 on medical bills and prescription medications, especially since the first doctor told me it was an allergic reaction so the medicine he prescribed never worked.

According to my doctor, ANY tattoo bears a risk of infection, no matter how clean the parlor is. That's because the needle is cutting into your skin, and then you are putting a foreign substance (ink) into the wound, making it even more ripe for infection.

If your doctor has warned you to be careful, I would heed their advice over the advice of any tattoo artist.

Thanks for the advise. I think I am going to hold off - at least for today. I went to the parlor - which by the way is health inspected, and comes highly recommended - and the artist was very understanding. I just want to be sure and not jepardize my hip transplant. When I finally get it done I will be sure to post it here. Thanks again.

Many physicians and surgeons are on the conservative side. I work in the OR, and when we get a patient with ink, sometimes they make little comments. I think your doc may be biased! I've had multiple surgeries and I have 4 tattoos and I've never had a problem. I also have a tat that has red in it and I didn't have a problem. As long as you're not putting the tat over a fresh incision, I think you'll be fine.

Go to a shop that has their Dept. of Health license displayed so you can see if it's up to date. Don't be ashamed to ask questions either. They should have an autoclave on premises to sterilize equipment. It goes without saying that the artist should wear gloves. Also, they should be using little individual cups of ink for each client, as well as sterile needles. Follow the aftercare instructions religiously. I love my tats and want a fifth one...just not sure what and where..If WDW had a shop on premises(I think Pleasure Island would be perfect!) I'd get another one in september.:)

If your doctor has warned you to be careful, I would heed their advice over the advice of any tattoo artist. Actually, surgeries are a hotbed for infection. Hospitals are hands down the most filthy places you can imagine.People are shocked when I say that, but it's true. It makes me cringe when people bring their babies in there to see Grandma, and let the kid crawl around the floor. Bleechh. We get more patients that come to us with infections they picked up in the hospital or as a result of their surgery. My point is that anything in life has risk. I ended up with a nasty abscess because of an overzealous dental hygienist. Your experience is a horrible one, but I can honestly say, you're the first person I've heard of that has had that happen(out of people that went to a licensed place.).

I think she should think about it too, but most of us who have ink have emerged unscathed.

I totally agree with you that WDW should put a tattoo shop on property. I would pay top dollar to get a disney tattoo there!! :thumbsup2

I think she should think about it too, but most of us who have ink have emerged unscathed.

well said :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

So, after much drama with trying to find the right tattoo shop (the one that I was origionally going to go to decided to be a bunch of A-Holes) I found an awesome place with the best tattoo artist I have worked with yet and got both my Disney tattoos last night!

Here's a picture of the one on my wrist

and here's a picture of the one on the side of my right calf (sorry it's a little bloody still in the pic....)

I'm thinking of my fifth one being the "Nurse Minnie" image..it's on a watch that I own as well as a pin. That way, it would be a Disney tattoo but would also incorporate my career..I always meant to get a celebratory tattoo when I passed my Boards(2006) but never got around to it. Maybe in May around my birthday.:thumbsup2

It was over before I knew it! With a break after he did the outline, it took a good 45 minutes to an hour. Piece of cake!
Just out of pure curiousity, do you guys find the outline to be the worst part, or the filling in? I think the outline is the worst part but other people I've asked have said the coloring in was the worst.

I find that getting the coloring is the worst ONLY when they seem to get close to the outline. Then it really smarts. That's just me. I think a lot also depends on where you are getting the tattoo done. I'm not yet brave enough to do my ribs or chest. The artist that I use has done his Adam's Apple (said that was really hard because he couldn't swallow while they were inking him) and inside his lip! Ouch!

For me, I find the shading to be worse than the outline. I think maybe because there are more needles involved.

For me the outline is worse, although neither are that bad. A tattoo artist explained to me that the outline hurst more because there is only one needle and you haven't released lots of endorphins to deal with the pain.

I think the outline is worse, once that is done you're pretty much numb anyway. Although I can't say that any really "hurt" except the one on the back of my neck. After 2 hours, it was getting pretty raw.

The one on my foot- the outline hurt worse.

The one on my back- the outline I couldn't even feel, and the shading/coloring was horrendous!! I was making "poop" faces, as the tattoo artist called it. Haha.

I have 3 tats, one is tinkerbell on my left leg, a tiger lilly (the flower, not the indian princess :) ) and a heart with wings. as soon as I get pictures taken I will post them on here. I'm planning on getting more tattoos, but what and where I'm not sure yet. and to answer a fellow poster's question, I think that the outline hurts more than the coloring.

i didn't get to meet them cause they weren't taping the show at the time. i was only in miami for a short time, so i decided to get it done there anyway. i only have a pic of the tattoo, not of the shop and i still can't post attachments. i did keep the "how to take care of your tat" business card to prove i was actually there! the shop actually has a different name than miami ink. thats just the name of the show

Hey everyone. Since I originally posted my Mickey tattoo way back on page one I have since had my second son and my little family was abandoned (to put it nicely) by my now ex husband. When my divorce was finalized I got a tattoo to represent that drastic event. I got a butterfly to represent freedom and moving on, and the whole caterpillar, cacoon, and then butterfly analogy I thought just perfectly represented the stages of my whole divorce. Also, had the butterfly put over my heart, and facing outwards because it was time to move on with my life and seek outwards. And being the Disney nut that I am, the kanji underneath it is for "imagination". :thumbsup2

Just have to tell you all that this is my FAVORITE thread!

I just got a Disney tattoo a couple of weeks ago for my 40th b-day. (my third, but first that's Disney) It's the swirl Mickey that has been seen here before, but it's blown up a bit probably 3 inches across?), and there's three of them making a triangle. Each is filled in with a differerent animal print (Animal Kingdom is my fav) - tiger, leopard and zebra. I've been trying to post a pic, but I can't find the directions and my search isn't working. :confused3 As soon as I figure it out, I'll post it!!

The closest I've come to a Disney tattoo is the temp. tattoos they have in the parks.

In December I had Tinkerbell put close to my ankle...I thought I was sooooo cute. The CM that did it was adorable and said it should last 4-6 days just enough time to finish out our trip.

Anyway they need to come with the warning if you are experiencing your own personal summers they "melt" away by the next day.:cutie:

To post pictures...set up a free account on www.photobucket.com. Upload the picture of your tattoo there. Once you have done that it will give you four different codes listed under the picture. Copy the text next to "IMG Code". Then come over to the Dis and paste the text that you coppied from photobucket into a new post. Viola! :thumbsup2

Hope this helps :goodvibes Can't wait to see the picture of your tattoo!!

I used a Windows Power Toy called Image Resizer. It just lets you resize pictures by right-clicking on them and then choosing the size you want. You can find it here (http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe) (if you're using Windows XP...I don't know if they have it for Vista).

I am the same way about shots and especially about having blood drawn. The blood work is mainly b/c it is usually so hard to get blood from me with my small veins that roll. Two years ago I got my first tattoo on the outside of my right ankle, and it was of Mickey. If I had to either get another tattoo or have blood drawn, I would have another tattoo.

When I came home from doing my internship, the thing I missed most was watching Wishes! almost every single night. And so, I took my favorite lyric, "just believe" along with those Disney "shooting stars" that you see on cups and napkins and such and combine the two:

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m318/splash_trash717_2006/SA400070.jpg

Got it done in August '06 and it cost $75. No pain!

I LOVE everyone's tattoos! Glad to see that we all express our Disney love through tattoos!

hi dizprincess, did you get your tattoo localy?

Oh, I would love to get a Disney tattoo, but my DH would shoot me!!! He thinks I'm crazy for my love of Disney w/out a tattoo. He knows I would like one, but he doesn't really expect that I will get one.

I would love to get this cutie minnie w/ some variations as well as something Chip and Dale at some point.

Okay, I just read this whole thread from start to finish and I really would like to get a tattoo but I'm still chicken. I have my belly button pierced and my tragus pierced

and neither of them hurt. I want to get something related to Disney but not really a specific character.

OMG, my tragus HURT. However, when he was piercing it, I heard a *pop* sound (yeah, cartilage does that sometimes), so I jerked my head away in reaction. BAD IDEA. He was practically standing on me saying "DON'T MOVE!!!!" The side of my face hurt for like 2 days afterward!

Silly little off-topic story...

I had the same 2 piercings. My lobes are done 3 times, but I don't really consider them anything special. They're just there. Anyway, I digress.

Before I went to work at Disney World I had my belly button and tragus done. I LOVED the tragus piercing, it was by far my favorite. Well, of course I had to take it out when I started working at Disney World. And it closed up. :sad1:

When I got my belly button pierced, I swore I'd never get it done again if it would ever close up. My belly button hurt worse than my tattoos and tragus (which was nothing, a piece of cake... Slept on it that night) and I was miserable for a month while it healed. I kept it in when I started working because I had on a regular costume, not a life guard suit. Needless to say, because the costumes at Disney aren't fit to flatter, the pants were SO HIGH UP that it rubbed against my belly button and I had to take the jewelry out. Now I'm belly button piercing-less and tragus piercing-less.

:sad1:

On the other hand, I guess it was a small price to pay for the chance of a lifetime!

AND!

The Disney Tattoo Guy lives 20 minutes from my house! I emailed him last night and am going to set up a meeting and tour his house!! :thumbsup2

The first time I got my belly button done I was 17. My BFF and I talked the guy into doing it and we decied I would go first because if I didn't I would probably chicken out. Well guess who didn't get it done...I wasn't mad at her though, I loved it. Unfortunatly it got infected at summer camp the summer bcause I really couldn't keep it as clean as it needed to be. I waited until I was 22 to get it done the 2nd time, I still have it 5 years later.

I have 3 in each lobe and 1 at the top of each ear in the cartilage.

That's so cool about being able to meet the Disney Tattoo Guy. Take pictures for us!

I will be getting my next tat soon and I have a question for those of you who have gotten one recently, do you tip your artist or not? and if you do, what is the norm. The artist I went to last had a sign about tipping so I gave him $5, was that too much or what. The tat was $75. Is it based on amt of the tat or how happy you are with the result?
Thanks for the input!!

i tipped 20%. i liked the guy who tattooed me, i thought he did a great job and he was very nice. i figure it's the same as going to a restaurant. i wouldn't stiff that person, so why stiff tattoo artist? the guy i went to wasn't the owner though, so i'm not sure what to do if the person is an owner?

This summer I'm gettin my first tattoo and I've decided to get Steamboat Willie right above my right ankle. I can't wait:banana: I am sooooooooooooo excited!!!!!! Yay me:cool1: !!!!

I am not knocking anyone with tattoos, or even trying to discourage someone from getting one. I have several-I even have my eyebrows tattooed on.

And I really contemplated getting a Tigger tattoo, as he is my favorite character. But............and please don't flame me.......................

Be very careful when you decide what you want to put on your body for the rest of your life. Make sure you are still going to love it when your grandchildren ask you what it is.

I do have tattoos, but they are my kids eyes (all 4 of them) on my shoulder, a HUGE Lilith symbol in the middle of my back, and my kids names on my other shoulder, and I am getting my baby's footprints in the small of my back. I love them because they remind me every day that I love those little creatures and that they are the most permanent thing in my life.

Just be careful.

I always tip for a service. They are like hairdressers-they have to pay rent in the studio that they draw at unless they own it. I always tip 20%, unless I am not satisfied-and they had better fix it quick-that has only happened once, and I was unhappy with the shading, not the look. Now, it might sound high, but I also try to stay local when I get a tat, and if there is a problem, when you tip well, you tend to get the artist to help out for free, and they also cut you a deal the next tat, should you choose to come back to them. I live close to ATL, so it is easy to find a close tat artist that has national standing.

I give kudos to those of you who are brave enough to get a tattoo or tattoos. I'm just too chicken because I don't think I could tolerate the pain but I'd love to get one.

A friend of mine who along with is wife (whom I've known since I was 5 and she was 4) used to be character CM's at WDW. He at MK and she at DHS when it was MGM Studios. He often played Tigger and Eeyore. She did a variety but did Mickey the most. I actually got to see her play Mickey in the Fantasmic show when they were still working in FL, but that's beside the point. His mom got a tattoo of Eeyore on her upper back on the right side. I can't remember if his dad has a tattoo or not. I thought he did too but can't remember.

its not painfull. first , remember its there for life. second, it felt to me like sun burn for 2-3 days after. put it on a fleshy part (not bone) and you'll do fine. i have a m.m. on the side of my calf and i pass out going to the dentist. i hate needles. i went to wdw w/my family (who has since passed) since 1973. 5 years ago i wanted to do something to remeber the good times we always had there. the tattoo reminds me of that evey day. my dad was 6ft 3in ,280lb ex marine who turned into a little kid evey year when we went to wdw. so give it some thought and go for it!! :thumbsup2

I just *knew* there had to be a thread somewhere about ppls Disney tattoos! I have two non-Disney tattoos I got and am hoping to get a Stitch on my shoulder when I go to WDW next year. I'm only part way through the thread, but has anyone gotten their tattoo near WDW? Or did everyone get them done at home?

Amazingly enough, my DD is already planning her first tattoo and it will be Disney related. :D I have my doubts about her actually getting it done though. She has a real phobia of needles. :rolleyes1

We'll see. It would be cool if we both had Stitch tattoos. She used Stitch on a school project not too long ago. She had to create her own Coat of Arms using a mixture of old symbols and new symbols. She used Stitch to represent appreciation and acceptance of things/people that are unusual/different.

oh yes, it's here :thumbsup2 just been buried for a while. I actually considered getting my disney tattoo on my WDW vacation last year but did some research on it and a lot of people say either, don't do it on vacation or wait until the end of your trip because if you put the tattoo in a spot where the sun is going to hit it all day at the parks healing might be a little more painful than if you weren't in the sun all day. I got my tattoo done before I went to WDW in March. Maybe like a month before and walking around with it in the sun still wasn't pleasant. The sun just seemed to bore into it. But, there are tattoo shops very near WDW. Just do your research and make sure you don't go to one that is going to over charge you with it being a very touristy area and all.

That being said, that is so cool you and your daughter want to get stitch tattoos. If your DD wants it bad enough she will get over her fear of needles and go for it. That's what I did. Now I have no fear of needles at all. So, maybe it will help her overcome her fear. :thumbsup2

I ran in to George the Disney Tattoo guy at DTD last week and was excited to get some pics with him.

I have several non disney tats and I love the art, but I've been planning to get a day of the dead sugar skull for years, and now there are POTC pins sporting the type of skull I will be getting. I plan to take some of that design like the hidden mickey nose for my tat! As for pain, I sat 5 hours for my longest session yet and have about $2500 in my body art. A good artist will not be cheap and I am good friends with two artists. I hate shots and blood work but love tattoos, go figure!

I worked at WDW in 2005 and I saw a guy kind of like him, except he was much older looking and had Disney tattoos EVERYWHERE. His neck, ears, forehead....I promise you, this is no lie. I just got some more done on it on Monday night. So far, I've had about 7 hours in it, and expect maybe about 4-6 hours more. YAY! Maybe, someday, I'll get a Disney tattoo to share...:cutie:

My tattoo artist and I were just talking about the difference in pain from piercings and tattoos. We both decided piercings hurt worse, but it's a brief pain, while tattoos the pain is not as bad, but it's spread out over a longer period of time. I have my nose pierced, and it hurt worse than my tattoos.

I love that black pearl tattoo! I'm a fan of large tattoos and great work. That one definitely has both!! The shading is great too.

As for the Hidden Mickey type tattoos, I'd go for something that isn't really disney related, have the artist really look at some actual hidden mickeys and do something like the classic HM in the outline of the flowers. A good artist will definitely take the time to understand what HM's are and will work with you. I do like the pin you found, but when I put my HM in to my tattoo for my back, it will be in a way that only a true disney HM fan could find it!

I am a giant fan of POTC and have been considering getting this on my arm, just like Jack, for a couple years now. My wife would really like it if I did get this one too.:thumbsup2 When I got my skull and cross swards tattoo, I was talking to my tattoo artist about it, and he told me something that I had not known. The Sparrow tattoo has been around a long time and is a tattoo that has some real significance to it. One Sparrow means that you have been half way around the world. Two sparrows means that you have been all the way around the world.
So, it looks like I will have to do some more traveling before I will have earned the right to get my Sparrow. (Unless you add up the miles from all the times I've been to WDW, then I think that I could get at least three Sparrows.)

I agree!! Great gift! How long did it take?

It took about 2 hours, but if he would have worked continuosly (insted of talking so much!!) it would have taken a lot less time! I told him that I wanted a bracelet of Mickey heads............he thought I wanted detailed Mickey heads of how he's changed through the years. That would be awesome, but just a little too much detail - pain - for me!! So he traced the outline of the head from an old Disney catalog page number and just repeated it. I told him black, yellow, white, and red for Mickey colors and to do whatever else he wanted, so he added the shading and stuff to make it look more like beads sticking out from my leg. I think he did an awesome job and since it was our own designing, it's now on the wall in his shop in Columbus!

so I called back the tat artist that did my tat and asked if maybe the daisy should have a leaf or something...he laughed and said i didn't SEE the picture! the water lily is in the water w/purple sky and the daisy is like the moon. Duh! i laughed and said i see it now. He said sometimes he just thinks people see what he sees. Very artistic! I'll ask next time what the whole picture is! :rotfl:

I've got Mickey on my back. I'd have to say, it was the most painful one so far. I've only got 5 tats, but Mickey's right where my kidney is, and I could feel it moving when he was tattooing me... OOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!
But it's certainly worth it!!

Here are a couple of pics of my vintage Snow White (poison apple included!). Snow White was quite surprised to find herself on my arm!

Hey everyone! I got my apt this Saturday (My bday) for my tattoo!! So thrilled, thinking about Tink on my ankle with pixie dust, with hidden mickeys in it, wrapping around her legs and then my ankle...plus I have a heart on my toe that desperatly needs fixing, so I am hoping to get that changed to mickey ears! I will come online either saturday night or sunday and show you!!

Great minds think alike:rotfl2: ! I'm getting my first tattoo next month and I'm getting Tink on my ankle, with pixie dust all around her and trailing down to the top of my foot!:lmao: The one after that(which I'm also getting this year probably Sept.) will be on the other ankle and will be of Jack and Sally!!

:rotfl2: I've (kinda)completely changed my mind! What I'm getting is still Disney, though. Everyone in my family(except my mom, dad, and brother, they get the Disney thing), has said 1) tattoos are stupid and a waste of money 2) why in the world would you get some cartoon character on your body? My answer has always been the same. I absolutely love Walt Disney World. The only place we ever went on vaction was WDW, and my happiest memories are from those countless trips as a child:) . I look forward to telling my kids and grandkids about why I got my tattoos and why I love them(though they probably won't need an explantion, the Disney Gene will carry on!!!:thumbsup2 )
I did think looooooooooong and hard on this though, it's not just spur of the moment, so that is very, very sound advice. Your tattoos sound beautiful, BTW.
