Connections Gift Card question?

I'm hoping someone has the answer to this one: Do the restaurant gift cards to places like Olive Garden have an expiration date? And do you need to be a current member to use them?

I'm not sure I'll keep the membership, and I want to be certain before I buy these that they'd be good beyond the 30 day trial.

I don't know about the Olive Garde, but I got Toys R Us gift cards, and after 12 months, the card beging deducting a $2.50 permonths for being inactive or something to that effect. Which is kind of tacky, because if I give one as a gift, I will have to tell them I ordered it in October, so you better use it before next October. Your membership does not have to be active, as the certificates or cards are really not connected to connections, other than they sell them to you. Connections is not listed anywhere on the gift cards or vouchers.
