Gay Days at Disneyland

I know its a little early but is anyone planning to go down to Disneyland for Gay Days in October ?

We thought about it but checked the dates and it turns out it's the same weekend as we leave on a different vacation. I see they've extended it to two days (by having DL on Saturday and CA on Sunday). Next year, I guess. At least it's during a more sane time of the year than WDW (which Husbear & I have committed to do some year, but Orlando in June is just not this weather-wimps idea of fun). I think they'll still be running the 50th anniversary festivities?

Since I started the thread I ought to answer.

I will be in the parks, although I was coming down for CHOC Walk, it seems I will also be there for the weekend.

My boyfriend and I will be there, celebrating our honeymoon! Turns out the Friday before Gay Days falls on the fifth anniversary of our first date.

We'll be there, along with a couple we know from San Francisco. We just got back from Lazy Bear in Guerneville, and quite a few of the bears we talked with plan to be at Gay Days at DLR.

So do the bears have a meet? So sad that there will be no country bear jamboree singalong :sad2: I'll take Henry over Pooh any day of the year!

The bears usually meet up at the Hungry Bear around noontime, in Critter Country. The 2 Disney Bear groups from the area usually hang out separetly (drama), but you can always spot a large group moving from one attraction to another.

I think it might be fun to meet but not sure that this confused one is quite ready for bears (no offense intended of course)

No offense taken, but if you are a bearded cuddly type, be prepared to be admired.
I don't know of any other groups, mostly it is singles,gay friends,couples, families, and straight friends of gays that go to hang out and have fun.

Though I've been to the park many, many times, this year will be the first Gay Days for my partner and I. Hoping this thread will stay alive as I'll be curious to hear about other people's past experiences and plans for '06. Personally, I'm debating whether or not to (HERESY ALERT!) wear red because, frankly, it's just not my color. Do briefs count?

I just booked a room at HoJo's Anaheim for the weekend. We decided to get a room instead of driving in each morning from home. That way we can sleep in a bit before walking over to the parks. I think they have a free shuttle though too.

my boyfriend and i ... and a few friends will be there! :) my boyfriend actually works at disneyland in Fantasyland... i might be a volunteer this year.. not sure yet!

My boyfriend and I will be coming down there all the way from Idaho. It will be our first Disney trip together, and only his second time ever visiting DLR. We are definitely looking forward to it.

The wife and I have already planned a trip to DL in October, but now I'm wondering when Gay Days are. Maybe we'll go twice! :)

Oct 6-8. Oct 7th is DL and Oct 8th is CA.

We are booked at HoJo's across the street, and friends have comps at Grand Californian. Others we know will also be at HoJo's for the weekend.

Our family will be there. We are staying at the Paradise Pier on Saturday night.

This will be our first Gay Days and my daughter is very excited.

We'll be at the Pier too! It'll be our first time staying on-property.

Last year was my year to splurge on the trip ... stayed in one of the suites at the GCH for the entire weekend. The only issue I had with that, is why do the suites have to be sooooooooo far from the elevator bank? LOL I tell ya, our feet got more tired walking back to the room from the elevators, than from a full day in the park!!

This year it's going to be on the cheap, as I am coming with at least 3 other friends. So we are going to try the Anaheim Plaza Inn and Suites. (Got it for only $60 a night :cool1: )

We will be arriving Friday afternoon, as we were thinking of going to Knott's Scary Farm that night, if anyone else is interested.

I'll be there with my cub and some friends. Should be about 7 of us all together.
I'm not part of either local bear groups, but we'll be having lunch with the rest of the bears on Saturday.


To get to Knott's, just get on the 5 freeway north. It's only about 10 or 15 minutes away. Follow the signs, it's easy.

As we are going to be flying in, don't know if we are going to be renting a car to get to Knott's ... I think most of us are a bit weary of driving in that area. :rolleyes2 :eek:

But I still have to say Yay!! :yay: Only 3 more weeks to go!!! :cool1:

WORK CHANGED MY DAYS OFF!!! I have to work that Saturday from 11am till 730pm! :sad: So i'll only be able to go after work Saturday (i'm volunteering at Kingdom!) and then I'll go all day Sunday but it's going to be crowded because on that day the CHOC is having their annual walk to raise money for the children's hospital... *sigh*

It will probably be a little more crowded in addition to the CHOC walk ... cuz it being a holiday weekend too. But don't know how many people get Columbus Day/Indeginous(sp?) Day off anymore ...

My youngest brother, who's straight, told me I booked the wrong weekend for our family trip to Disneyland; he said that we'd have more fun during Gay Days....

I could just see it; my mom, 2 brothers, SIL, SIL's mom, and my nephew at Gay Days... SIL's mom is a little naive, I'm afraid we'd have to explain too much to her... :stir:

Oh well; can't have everything...
