Need help planning a trip for my dad

My dad and his wife are trying to get out to Carmel, but cannot get a timeshare swap for that area (they have two timeshares here in Orlando). I keep telling them to come for a visit in early November for the F&W. They could use my SSR points and stay there (which they would like to do). Can I make a reservation for them using my own points and at how many days out could they cancel without me losing anything? I have banked all my 05 points, and my use year starts 10/1.

I'm at work, away from my DVC stuff and I am new to DVC, so I thought I would ask you guys and shoot him an answer before he leaves work today.

You will get your 06 points on October 1 and you can also use the banked points from 05 at that point. Go ahead and make that reservation for Nov if you can find something available. You just have to have the points available for the date of the stay and not when you make the reservation.

When can I cancel without losing points?

If you cancel 31 day or more out, your points go back into the current use year (which would be your 2006 year). If you cancel 30 days or less, your points go into a holding acct that requires you use them before the end of the year, but you can only book a reservation 60 days ahead of time with the points.
