Hi all, we are in the process of looking into immigrating down under. I would like to know if any of you guys know anybody or have done this yourselves, and have any tips to share. The paperwork is daunting and its hard to see where to start. We are looking and the gold coast/brisbane areas.
Thanks all
Dan :)

There are companies on the internet where you can submit details to see if you would get enough points before you fill in your immigration form. personally i wouldnt even attempt to do ours without specialist help, as if you apply under the wrong section, thats it.

we have family in New south wales, and know of a few ex pats who have given us lots of advice, one being get a specialist to help with the form filling, might cost you abit of money but its worth it in the long run.
Also might be worth you joining an ex pats australian message board, as the help these people give is great.

it is a minefield and there is a wrong and right way to go about it.

Good luck :thumbsup2 I think your very brave to consider it seriously enough to begin form filling, Moving abroad is a long distant fantasy of mine, Gavin & I chat about it sometimes but I dont think either of us want to leave the UK enough yet.

If we didn't have kids I think DW and I would've left the UK a long time ago.

It never ceases to amaze me how difficult it is for professionals to move between countries - yet those entering the same countries via the illegal route do so unhindered and in some cases, actually helped. What a strange world we live in.

Hiya

A relative recenty told me that Australia are wanting to allow 24,000 people into there country who have a trade (even if only one person in family has a trade). Not sure if this is true or has anything to do with your post, but keep an eye out!
