View Full Version : From CSR to POFQ - I think DH is bummed!

This happened only because I wanted to stay an extra night and could not get the AAA price if I changed my res (would have cost $300 + more) and I didn't want to check out and in for one night at a different resort. When I told DH, he seemed very disappointed even though we know POFQ is a quiet and somewhat smaller resort. We've stayed at POR twice and have taken walks through POFQ. I know we'll love it, but I had to make a quick decision on the phone. All you POFQ lovers, please reassure me because I don't think I can change my res again...my AAA agent will probably kill me. :guilty:

We LOVE LOVE LOVE POFQ!!!! We stayed there for the 1st time last Dec and are going back again next mth! It is wonderful. Good foodcourt, great bus svc, lovely walkways, plantings, etc. And the boat to DTD....the best! POR is nice too I hear, but we haven't stayed there yet. Just POFQ. You'll have a marvelous time!!!!!

Stay put, do not change, breath deeply. You really will like POFQ - The resort is very very nice - the New Orleans theme is very well done - you never have to walk far to any point - bus, food or pool. There is a boat over to the POR or DTD or if you like you can walk betwee the two resorts. Have a great trip!

This is our absolutely favorite resort. Obviously from my sig. So peaceful, nice walks along the river, first on and first off the bus. Begneits at the CS are wonderful. Nice grounds, no more than 5 minute walk to anything. Boat to DTD and POR, and they are sister resorts so you can legally pool hop. Here are a couple of picks from our 30th anniversary.

Thanks! I have a question. I definitely need a non-smoking room and I think I requested it when I booked (I will call tomorrow to make sure). What if they assign me a smoking room? Can I request a non-smoking room at check-in and still get it? I'm sorry but I have such an OCD about these things. I get headaches from smoke and don't want my vacation ruined.

Stayed there twice and it's my favorite mod resort! We loved building 6, waterview, corner room! Even in spring break we felt like we were all alone! Truly a great resort with so much to offer!

Definitely my favorite mod. CSR was prior to visiting POFQ...but when I stepped foot onto the property of POFQ, I was hooked. The size makes it have a much more intimate atmosphere, the landscaping is lush, everything about it is beautiful. I remember when DH booked POFQ a few years ago and I did not want to stay there...I was bummed he booked it. So he won the "fight" and got to say the famous words: "I told you so!" :)

Good luck with the shared bussing. We had a terrible experience with waiting and trying to get back to the resort because the queues at the parks were so crowded.

We absolutely love POFQ. The grounds are beautiful and its very peaceful. No where near as crowded as the other resorts. Also, I highly suggest the beignets for breakfast. They are to die for! We were in bldg. 1 which was the furthest from everything and it was so peaceful and quiet. Even being far from everything, it only took us a few minutes to get to the food court. We also had some bus problems, but it was because the lifts on the busses kept breaking down at the bus stop. I think it was the heat (was a very hot summer). I think your DH will really like the resort.

That Sassagoula River Cruise looks nice. Do you have to be staying at one of the resorts on your map to go on it? Also, does it cost any money if you are staying at a Disney Resort (Coronado Springs)?

We also encounter bus issues when staying at POFQ. We didn;t like the fact that there is not a sit down restaurant and you have to walk to POR to use any of the amenities, i.e., marina.

I agree.

We LOVE POFQ. When we booked our last trip we asked the travel agent (she goes to Disney at at least twice a year) what mod resort she liked best. We had been looking at CSR but she steered us to POFQ. We were very happy there and are booked there again this Oct. Our last trip was in Oct. and we never had bus issues. They weren't overcrowded at all. We really didn't miss having a TS restaraunt at the resort because we had ADR's in the park each night. The CS at the resort was great for quick bite before we left for the park in the morning. You have to do the boat ride to DTD. It's a beautiful ride and very relaxing. I think you will enjoy your stay at POFQ :thumbsup2

If I remember correctly, when we were there last October, there were often separate buses for POFQ and POR. I don't recall the queues being any worse than those for any other resort. It did sometimes seem as if we'd see multiple All Star buses before one arrived for PO, but there were also many more people in line for the All Stars.

POFQ is the only moderate I have stayed at, but I LOVE it! The grounds are beautiful. The pool and pool bar are fun. Great food court/jazz bar. The boat to DTD is a nice bonus! We had a wonderful time last October there. I would easily stay there again!
