I don't know if this is the right forum or not, but here it goes anyway! I will have Tiffany Towncar waiting for my party at the baggage claim. Will it be a problm to go to the Disney store with them waiting? Is the store very much out of the way once I get off of the plane? Any clarification would be helpful. MJ

Even if you buy it there, you'll still only get the voucher and need to get the actual AP at Guest Relations at a theme park. So don't waste your time.
To answer your actual question, it depends on your carrier.

I just read on a different board that you get the actual ap at the airport store. I am glad you told me because that is why I was waiting til I got to Florida. MJ

You receive the actual active AP at the store at the airport not a voucher...unless this has changed in the recent past.

It is true that you receive the actual activated AP at either of the two stores at Orlando International Airport. They are both directly connected to Disney's ATS computer system.
There are two stores where you can purchase your passes in the airport. Disney's Flights Fantastic is located in the B airside terminal (the one where the boarding gates are). If your airline comes in anywhere in the B terminal (Gates 60-99) you will walk right past it just before you board the shuttle for the main terminal.
If you arrive on the A side (gates 1-59), then you will find the other store, The Magic of Disney, in the main terminal right after you get off the shuttle from the gates.
Either way, you will come to the stores before you go to the luggage area where the towncar drivers are waiting.
