View Full Version : Another ASMo problem

I am starting to get a little annoyed. After reading about the pool closing for refurbishment I decided to switch to Pop. I had paid for a preferred room at ASMo and it was because I wanted to be close to the pool. Now we will be further away from the Music pool. So I called and Pop is booked, Music is booked, Sports is booked. Now what?

Also should I be nervous about crowds if all of these are booked?

We are going on 9/29 for 6 days with MIL and 2 kids ages 2 and 4.

What should I do? The CM said keep calling back but we are needing 3 rooms (2 adjoining). Should we just suck it up and stay there?

Any advice?

ETA: I just called again and there are no moderates either!

Just stay. The other pool will be open (Mighty Ducks, next to the 100 Dalmations building) and the resort is so small it won't be a long walk to the Duck Pool.

Good luck. I totally understand your frustration. :(

KEEP CALLING. People cancel their reservations all the time. Especially, call five days before you leave, since that is the last day in which reservations can be cancelled without losing your deposit, and if a room is available the day you will be arriving, you can snag it then most easily. But, we were in the exact same situation (but for a different reason), and we snagged a room at Pop after about ten different calls.

KEEP CALLING. People cancel/change reservations constantly. Several tiems I've not gotten what I wanted when I called, but 100% of the time I ended up where I wanted to be through polite persistance.

If it is for free dining and you should check around the 45 day mark. People need to cancel at that time. I wanted to down grade I called the day before the day of and the day after. Low and behold the day after there were 2 rooms available at the ASMu...

A poster on this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1181768 said that she had a similar experience and asked to be transferred to Guest Services and they sorted it out because of the pool situation. It's worth a try.

We switched from ASMO too to ASMU. I was lucky to find availability (for October 24th - 28th).

Good luck!!

You have to be transferred to Guest Realtions Recovery. This took me 2.5 hours to get straight. But I hope thi helps save you the time I wasted going from cm to cm. I am sure Disney does not want people canceling rooms so I think they make it hard so you give up. I can understand why. They will not offer you will have to insist. You need to know what you want, and they can adjust the computers to give you the package. I did worry about the other pool being busy. Think of the people who will not know it is closed until they get there. For us it was to much to risk. So upgrade we did! :)

Thanks to all who posted. I am okay with walking to the other pools and DS (2) is a huge Buzz fan so I don't really want to switch but I feel a little cheated. Plus paying for a preferred room like I did, you expect it's the best location.

I will start calling every two days or so and wait for cancellations at Pop. Worse comes to worse I will try to request a room in Dalmations or something closer to the pool. My kids love to swim.

Thanks for giving me hope! I am SO looking forward to this trip that sometimes I wonder if I am setting myself up for dissapointment. Lukily with these boards I can prepare myself for the little changes in schedule! :grouphug:

I am sorry to hear about the pool rehab during your vacation. :grouphug:

Usually Disney will supply shuttles to the other All Star pools if one the All Star pools is closed.

Here are some pool photos from Allearsnet.com:

Mighty Duck pool All Star Movies

Calypso pool with Donald Duck at All Star Music

Calypso pool

Piano pool at All Star Music

Ariel Figure by the Piano pool

It is only about a 5 -7 minute walk to the main pool at All Star Music.
Just cut through the Mighty Ducks section go across Melody Lane and the pool is right in front of Melody Hall. (Where the food court is.)

Here is a map of Movies. Music is at the top of the map just above the Mighty ducks section.

Well it was a tough decision but I just called and switched to Pop. Thanks for the suggestion of asking for Guest relations. The CM I talked to was quite skeptical and wanted to know why I wanted to be trasferred there and what the problem was, as if it mattered why I wanted to talk to someone else. She then looked everything up and verified that there were no rooms. Then I was on hold through the whole song of Supercalifragilistic..., that really calmed my nerves! Then she came back and said that there were preferred rooms at Pop and Sports. So I took Pop. The only problem now is that my MIL has to go through the same process to get switched too. I guess that free dining thing is what is messing everything up. There are only so many rooms allocated for free dining and since the deadline passed they have to override the system to make it happen.

I guess we will stay with Buzz and Woody next time!
