Does much or any stealing occur at FW campground? How safe is your campsite while you are at the park the entire day? Can you leave all of your equipment out?

I have been to FW many times and have never had anything taken from our site.
When we tent camped we would lock valuables out of view in our car. I think they have lock boxes at the front desk.

Fort Wilderness is very safe - we've never heard of anyone having any problems there.

So it is safe to leave a grill, cooler, bikes out for the day while you go to the park?

I think within reason you can leave some things out, for instance we...
lock our bikes when away from the campground
dont leave our truck unlocked unless we are in the site
dont leave any electronic toys (game boy etc) laying around
lock the trailer when we are away (we have a hiding spot for a key so the kids can come back early)

We do leave our mini fridge outside

All in all its as safe a place as any these days but it isnt totally exempt from crime, sometimes oppurtunity is all it takes.

We have left out the usual camping stuff and nothing has been touched. While I try to leave the bikes at the back of the camper, they were often not locked up. No problems for us!

Both of our trips, 14 nights each we left everything out. Fridge full, lots of snacks, water, and soda and no one ever bothered it. This is true for every campground we have stayed at. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

They do punish people who steal pretty badly. You can get banned for life if you get caught.

We were in loop 100 , walked outside to ride the bikes to the marina,and 1 bike was missing. I start flying off, and call for security. DW and the kids walk over toward the marina to look around., Found the bike on the ground by the arcade. Did I mention it was SPRING BREAK IN FL...
