New Orchid Court Sushi Bar at Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, A Loews Hotel Features Inventive Sushi in South Pacific Paradise

7/19/2006 - Orchid Court Sushi Bar is the newest addition to the collection of unique, themed food and beverage outlets at Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, A Loews Hotel. The growing demand for and popularity of sushi led the Loews team to design an area in the heart of the hotel where guests can experience the island charm that is the essence of the South Pacific-themed resort. With a bow to sushi’s Japanese heritage, Chef Kwang Chung has created a menu featuring more modern, inventive sushi and sashimi presentations, along with Asian-inspired desserts and South Seas martinis including the Tahitini and the Cherry Blossom Saketini.

“Our intent was to conceive a sushi bar that blends together the various tastes, cultures and traditions of the South Pacific in a way never done before,” says Director of Food & Beverage George Cronk. “As an example, Chef Chung pairs fish with fruit in several creations, like the caterpillar roll, that speak to our more modern approach to sushi.”

The surroundings in Orchid Court Sushi Bar are as much a part of the dining experience as the food. With hand-carved wood furnishings from Indonesia, Royal Pacific Resort immerses guests in the tropical enchantment of the South Pacific. The open-air Orchid Court garden showcases orchid varieties from around the world and can be seen through a glassed-in courtyard area adjacent to Orchid Court Sushi Bar. It offers an ideal place for guests to unwind and enjoy spectacular views of sunsets over the hotel’s lagoon pool. Like a private island retreat, Royal Pacific Resort offers relaxation and beauty everywhere. Balinese artists provided the hotel with hand-carved artwork and sculptures, hand-painted canvas murals and handcrafted batik wall hangings.

Orchid Court Sushi Bar is open daily from 5:00 – 11:00 pm. It joins a line-up of other popular restaurants at Royal Pacific Resort. Islands Dining Room offers Pacific Rim cuisine, along with traditional menu items in tropical, casual surroundings. Guests enjoy nightly entertainment, character dining on select nights and a special children’s dinner buffet. The Wantilan Luau features a culinary and musical journey through the Polynesian islands, with hula dancers and fire knife dancers, as well as a special kid’s buffet. A tribute to the pilot of his own island-hopper airplane, Jake’s American Bar is the perfect place for drinks, food and lively conversation after your day’s adventures. Emeril’s Tchoup Chop takes Asian cuisine and “kicks it up a notch” with his own unique style.

The Orchid Court Lounge has wonderful California rolls. They contain no raw fish. You can get a wonderful platter of all raw if you want.
