View Full Version : DME flying out of Toronto?

Well, first of all - I'm back! Hey everyone :) It's been way too busy for me with school to be around, but now that I'm finished, I've come back to join you :goodvibes
I just got my yellow luggage tags, I'm so excited! My boyfriend and I are flying out of Toronto to get to Disney. How do we use the DME? Since we're technically "international" travellers... even though we go through customs at the Toronto airport? We leave on Aug. 28 and come back Sept. 4
If anyone could help me, it'd be SO appreciated. Thanks!

ME is pretty much the same for leaving in Canada. Put you tags on your bags, drop them off at Pearson and they'll magically "appear" in your room a few hours after you arrive.
The only difference for flying out of Canada and back is there not a participating airline which only affects you on the way back (and so slightly it really doesn't matter) On your way back home you take your bags and load them on the ME bus your taking back to the airport and then go check them yourself.
Where as participating airline people drop their bags off earlier and they are taken to the airport by ME and you don't see them again till your at your home terminal.

Or wait until you pick up your bags after you land, put the tags on then, and bring them with you to the bus!
This way you know that they will definately be there!

Actually you have to claim your bags first in Orlando go through customs and then drop them at magical express and they take them to the resort. International travellers cannot NOT claim their bags and take them through customs themselves. Still it wasn't a problem for us we grabbed them going past baggage (they were already off the plane and waiting in the baggage area) the only issue is there is security security and another security to go through at orlando airport it's quite ridiculous. I mean we've already flown at that point and have gone through 2 security checks and what do you do ...turn a corner and another security stop....in fact shoes and jackets off and going through metal detectors again. Definitely a pain in the $%^.
Oh well....ME is very fast and bags arrived no problem.
Have Fun. :)
We stayed at POP May 21-28th 2006

So - we are using ME in October and are leaving on Westjet from YYZ - can we just pick up our own bags and take them to the bus? I have control issues and like to make sure I HAVE my luggage! :lmao:

Ilm getting more confused about DME everyday. We are flying in January and are going to use it and wondering about te luggage as well. Can we pick it up oursleves and bring it to the bus as BitsnBearsMom asked

Yes you actually pick up your own luggage and take it to the other terminal and give it to the ME people which are right beside the line ups for the ME buses. THere are a ton of lines ..one for each resort and you get in your line for your resort and when the bus is there the lady/guy with the large Mickey hand escorts your line to your bus. Before you get in your bus line you go to the ME line and give them your luggage and they will have it delivered to your room within a few hours....you can also choose to bring it on the bus with you...some did. The driver puts all bags under the bus and when you get to your resort takes them off for you and you then haul it all to check in and then to your room. We did the ME thing and it was fine actually we checked in had a bite to eat and hit MGM for star wars weekend and when we returned it was in our room. Perfect.
Disney has this down to a fine art .....very few problems. Have faith it is easier than lugging it yourself. When we were gonna check out we called the day before and had someone come to our room at 9am and pick up our luggage and they held it until ME was gonna pick us up at 230pm. We were then free to hit a park/pool or whatever we wanted. It was great.
Have fun!! :sunny:

"Take It On the Bus Gus!"
Safer! You know that it's been picked up, by you! And then when you get off the bus, you take it with you!
