New Printer

My old HP PhotoSmart printer died yesterday, so I went out and bought a new printer.

I've got a Canon iP5200. I'm so impressed with the photo prints!
You can print borderless prints too. It also does double sided printing and CD printing.
It also has two paper trays - a large one for normal A4 paper and an autofeed tray for photopaper or special paper.

I have the IP3000. It prints great pics! Better than my HP. DH was in Japan a couple of weeks ago and someone had a new Sony printer and printed a pic of him from it. He said the quality was awesome and he almost bought the printer. It was about $250, and he said he should have bought it and had it shipped home. I tried to do a quick search on Sony's website, but couldn't find it. It probably isn't on the market here yet.

Just keep in mind when printing photos how long the archival life is. www.wilhelm-research is a great place to get that kind of information.

That's strange - you can get my model in the US - but it doesn't come with the CD printing adapter??

Yes it is. It took about 20 minutes to setup and install the drivers etc. It comes with some very good printer software that makes printing your photos very easy :)

What I heard is Epson owns it and that is the reason why it is only on their printers.

You can get CDs that have a printable surface where you normally would write the name of the CD or apply a sticky label. The printer will print right on the CD with the use of a special guide that comes with the printer.

Printable CDs are usually more expensive than regular CDs. I just get the regular kind and use a CD marker pen.

if you need a dvd burner you can get a light scribe oem one for less than $50( at least at my microcenter, about 10-20 more than a regular dvd burner) and it laser writes the label on the dvd i think you can get light scribable blank cds also...

I am label challenged so I love being able to print right on the CD. There are different inkjet printable surfaces so you can get a different look. It looks so much better than a label and you don't have to worry about the label falling off in your CD player.

Cost is a few pennies more per CD.
