Discovery Cove and Autistic Child

When we went to Discovery Cove last year I did the dolphin swim with my severely autistic son aged 9 who is unable to speak, which we both enjoyed. However, after walking round the rest of the park we were very disappointed, due to the fact my son is unable to go snorkelling or sunbathe. After a walk round, which we found difficult with a pushchair, we could not find anything for him to do so we left. We were only there for about 1 ½ hours.

Just wondered if anyone else found that there is not much to do when your disabled? Or had we missed something?

we found quite a bit to do (though the beach wheelchairs were very tricky!) but dh is not autistic... he has learning disabilities and was just totally fascinated with the fish

you could try the evening discovery program, it's much shorter (three hours?) and I think it may be cheaper. it includes the dolphin swim and a meal.

mike coudn't snorkel either, he's got a really bad gag reflex, he did enjoy feeding the birds and creatures in the aviary! the interaction is nice and it wasn't very crowded in there
