Hi, just wondering how true this rumor is, as I was at the BC and had not heard about it :confused3

I wouldn't care at all if they were there. The point of a vacation is to relax. They probably get tired of people gawking at them all day long.

We were at Boardwalk. The morning of the 8th the guy who works in the Bakery told us that he thought Johnny, Orlando and Keira were staying at Yacht and Baech Clun that day.

I know they were at Disneyland for the premiere of POTC: DMC that weekend. I doubt they would have made it to Florida in that time frame.

We were staying at the BC, and according to two different CM's we talked to, Johnny Depp was staying at the YC, and Orlando Bloom was staying at the Contemporary.

We didn't know anything about it either until after they were gone. DH heard some of the lifeguards talking about it when we were in the pool one night.

I didn't believe it, so I asked another CM on a different day, and they confirmed that it was true!

They even said Depp went swimming in Stormalong Bay with his kids, and no one ever knew! CM said they kept everything very low key with security.

A CM, who works at GF, told me that Johnny was staying there. There are so many rumors flying around. As said before, if they really were there, they certainly managed to avoid all publicity. It almost seems impossible to me that the local media didn't get wind of this and I never heard anything beyond CM rumors. I can maybe see Johnny Depp being there, but I just can't believe Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Kira Knightly all managed to be there without being detected. I also don't understand why they would all be there if not to promote the ride and that did not happen. I'm skeptical.

It seems suspect that there are conflicting reports about which resorts they were staying at. CMs "confirming" things means nothing to me anymore...CMs "confirm" things all the time.

The OP says they were possibly there on July 7th. The DL premiere was on June 24th, so yes, it's very possible for them to make it in that time frame...as it's 2 weeks later.

I can see Johnny taking the family on vacation and being low key about it. He does have little ones. I was there on the 10th at the Boardwalk and heard nothing about this.

Johnny Depp and family deserves their privacy.
If I were him, I would trim the hair and shave off the mustash as not to be recognized. The Depp family has the right to enjoy WDW without being bombarded by fans.

I hope all the stars and family from Pirate's of Caribbean enjoyed a nice time at WDW without fans annoying them.

Just my opinion.

lol you guys do know that most of the CMs are collage kids who are doing it for credits, and will tell you exactly what you want to hear to get you to shut up. Trust me i know my cousin did this and we visited him and fellow CMs at the appartments for the collage cms and they told us about the stories they told the Guests.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was not true, BUT, in the case of the two CM's that I talked to, they were not college kids.

Tink in Pink make a very good point. Not only will cm's tell guests anything to shut them up, but they often are told NOT to give any information to guests. Disney has a strange way of keeping things away from guests for whatever reason. Like when a ride breaks down, and they say that they have no idea how long before it will be up again. In 99% of the cases, that's B.S. They know how long it will be, but they don't want to be pinned down so that if people choose to wait in line, sobeit, but they didn't tell them to do so.

If an attraction is going to be down for the rest of the day, why wouldn't they just put a sign up or have a CM make an announcement? Because they don't want to have to deal with all of the complaints. Look at all of you who complain on these boards that a ride is going to be in "refurbishment" when you go on your trip in 8years, 247days, 17hours and 39minutes. Now, multiply that by all of you, plus the thousands who will complain that. "I am an AP holder and I traveled all the way to WDW from...Celebration. And every time I come here, the Dumbo ride is broken. What are you going to do for me?"

Disney uses classic redirection tactics with guests. I guess they feel that by giving the impression of confusion, they can mislead guests the way they want to. "I understand your concern, but unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if, or when the attraction will re-open."

Take the old Disney Store for example. A guest comes in and says "I'm having a heart transplant tomorrow and I may die on the operating table. Since I can't be here at 9:00 when the new "crack-addict Pooh" comes out, can I just buy it now for my DD so I can give it to her when I visit her in rehab today?"

The CM, who knows that the bean bags are in the back room because she just finished unpacking them and commenting on how adorable "crack-addict Pooh" was says, "I understand your situation. "Crack-addict Pooh" is scheduled to be released tomorrow, and there is a limit of 2 bean bags per guest. We are still waiting on our shipment, but even if we had them in the back room, I wouldn't be able to sell you one until tomorrow." Then the CM says, would you like to pre-order "Tarzan 12: Tarzan Dumps Jane for the Lama from The Emperor's New Groove?"

Finally, the guest, who is desparate says. "That sucks, but can you tell me how many bean bags you will get. That way, I might try to have an ambulance bring me here after the surgery, if I survive, to pick it up."

Of course the CM read the manifest earlier in the week and saw that 1,250 "crack-addict Poohs" were coming in today. She counted all of them this morning. Her reply to the guest is, "I'm sorry. We never know how many bean beags we are going to get until the shipment arrives, so I can't tell you how many we will have tomorrow, or if we even will get them." And without missing a beat, she says, "Perhaps you could have someone pick-up the bean bag for you. Your husband? A friend? Perhaps your daughters dealer?

My long and exaggerated point is that Disney WILL say anything, BUT THE TRUTH to it's guests, with no reason for doing so. This is a management tactic that has been used for quite some time. Before you CM's blast me for sharing a Disney secret with your denials, DISers, please understand that I have been there, I was a CM and, yes, I said some of these things to guests.

Have a magical day!

it is also so guest dont say "you told me RnRc would be open in 2 hours but it wasnt..." now multiply that by 15,000 and make some people more hostile than others.

I'm not about to argue weather or not the CM's we talked to told us the truth or not..heck I don't even really care.

If we would have seen Johnny Depp or the others we would NOT have bothered them. I most likely would have pretended I didn't know who they were just to help protect their privacy because I feel they deserve it!

NOW..having said that, I just wanted to point out that we did NOT ask for this information.

The way it came up was that we were talking to a CM by the pool one night. We happened to mention that we had come down especially for the movie and ride premiere. That's how we even got on the subject. It wasn't like we were just told something to get us to shut up!

Like I said I still didn't believe it, so the second time I DID ask, and was told the same thing. Was it true?? :confused3

My experience has been that CM's have a tendancy to act like official authorities of all things Disney, whether they know what they are talking about or not. They often act like official Disney abmassadors, which they are not.

When I managed TDS, I often had to coach, and even give corrective action to CM's who bragged to guests about things that they knew nothing about. Especially when it came to talking about the parks. One CM prided himself on being the utmost authority on WDW, though he had never even been there.

It was frustrating, because the guest would believe everything the CM said. I'd imagine when they got to the park with the wrong info, they probably complained, saying "well Michael at the Disney Store told me that..."

The point is, don't always believe everything that you hear from CM's. And don't waste your time talking to or listening to "know it all" employees, unless they have a service pin on their name tag. Learn to consider the source, and be hesitant to believe it, just like you should with most of the stuff that is posted here.

I was at WDW over the 4th of July vacation and heard of this too, at the time it made perfect sense the movie was opening and if they had done any press with the actors they could shoot them against the backdrop of WDW, not sure if they did press but I did hear the rumor from 2 different cm's, one a hotel manager friend and the other a Reservations agent..seems they would know, if it was just a rumor it was a well spread one at least.

I remembered post this a while back...

Great news for the many passionate Johnny Depp fans in Japan: Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are scheduled to visit Japan for the premiere of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST. Their arrival date is July 9th, and the actors will do a press conference and attend the movie's premiere in Tokyo on July 10th. Stories in the Japanese press report, perhaps optimistically, that Johnny will give a speech at the premiere; knowing his shyness near a podium, we bet the speech will be brief . . . but the pictures will be gorgeous.

He was supposedly at the YC until the 6th, and I remember reading that they were in Paris on July 6th, so who knows! :confused3

That would be Orlando, then Paris, then Tokyo all in a few days span!

I was down over the 4th and on the day of the 5th as we walked out of the BW there were 3 limos and lots of Disney brass outside waiting! This was around 5:30-6:00pm we had ADR's at the MK and couldn't stay around. This was not a wedding, I've been a DVC member for almost 10 yrs and I've never seen this before. :)
