5 days to go, i have been planning this holiday since january, and i just dont feel excited anymore.
we have planned thanks to tgm our itinaries, made adrs inc crt, wcc, cm, marrakexh and cp, but know i just dont feel excited, or even that i want to go.
does anyone else feel like that or have i just over planned myself out of the excitment?

I have been known to over plan myself out of being excite you need to sit chill and think disney, not planning just how nice the parks will be not the ques etc just the feeling, maybe stick a disney cd on and just chill

I'm sure that once you get your packing finished or get to the airport you'll start getting excited. I can't say that I've felt like that before especially as I'm like an excited 5 year old at the best of times, but I'm sure that once your holiday has started either the night before at the Airport hotel or once you get through passport control and let loose in the Duty Free, then excitement will set in
Have a fab time :)

As Mushumadness has said, you may very well have "over planned"... It is great to plan and be prepared, but you may be feeling like you have "already lived" your holiday a couple of hundred times...
I THINK that you will find that you get excited again on the way to the airport, so am sure it will come back :) (since you realise that "yes this is actually happening" and "yes, it is actually even better than I imagined!" ;) )
One bit of advice, maybe you might like to think of doing some "impulsive" things whilst you are out there? This will add some nice surprises (that you haven't spent since Januaury meticulously planning) and will definitely increase the excitment...
I am positive that you will have a fabulous holiday - just sit back, relax and enjoy it (and maybe add some last minute surprised in...) :)
Happy Travels,
Boo

Our holidays are the main events of the year and I always look forward to them however I know that as they get near I will suddenly not look forward to them and even be reluctant to go.
Once we set off it will be fine - its just a bit of anxiousness over all the planning and waiting finally nearing an end.

I understand how you feel, Tracy. Because I am such a nervous flyer, I spend months being excited and then the two weeks before we go as a nervous wreck! You have probably been worrying about everything - planning can be stressful as well as fun! But I know when you get there you will have a wonderful time. :wizard:

thanks guys i knew i could count on you :grouphug:
you are as always right, spending hours on the dis and tgm as made me feel like i have already lived my holiday, dh has suggested some new things in the last week (so unlike him ;) ) going to see cars at the cinema before going to mgm and mini golf, which i think the kids would enjoy. dd(who is 3 going on 30 :lmao: ) has decided she wants to go pony riding which i think is at wilderness lodge (please feel free to let me know if thats wrong!) we have a adr at wcc so may fit that in on the same day and there has been a dis meet organised which is also a bit unplanned :thumbsup2 i am a meticulous planner, its costing so much i just really want the kids to enjoy it, and because of the weather over there i am becoming aware that whilst will can do morning activities evening ones may need to be changed  oh well, go with the flow i guess is the message!!
thanks to you, your all great :teeth:

You can pony ride at Fort Wilderness Tracy :)
It's "next door" (not walking distance in August temps I don't think) but you can get a boat from the WL to FW which runs very frequently if you wanted to go via WL :)

I get really excited when I first book, then its down to serious planning and then I'm too busy getting us all packed and organised, I finally let myself get excited when we're sitting on the plane!!!
Of course then I remember I'm sitting on a plane waiting to take off into the sky and that calms me down a bit!!

Sounds perfect! Think you husband has the right idea. And you will have the best of both worlds - all the advantages and security of your great planning + a few new impulsive things to add a bit of mystery and excitement :)
Agree with the crazy/miniature golf - not only will the kids love it, so will you! My husband is 33 going on 3 and he LOVES miniature golf. Ok it all gets a bit competitive, but the two of us have a RIOT (even with no kids!).
I think that you will also find that, since you have kids, once you start to experience the vacation through their eyes, that will add a lot of excitement and wonder to the whole trip ;)
Don't stress if you need to make any changes, just go with the flow and have fun - sometimes great opportunities come out of perceived problems :)
Best Wishes,
Boo

I can absolutely agree with you - we booked ours 12 months before trip and i really love the planning as i also am a planning maniac. we will only be there for 2 weeks and there is so much to fit in, i am on version 4 of the itinerary. I get excited through out the year when we talk about it but it's only the week before that family usually start "are you excited?" and i am usually not because .... The few days before going is usually stressful at work making sure I finish everything or handing over stuff to someone else. i have had dreams during the week of travel that i am meeting my DH on the run way straight after work in my suit! Also on the day of leaving the house i get really nervous about leaving the house - daft i know but everything switched off and timers on lights etc......, once in the car i get nervous then about the journey to the airport, as we fly Virgin we can't fly locally (Birmingham) so from Manchester, i worry about the traffic and the car breaking down - although this year we are going the night before to ease that part. Then i worry that i won't wake up in time or there is local traffic. Once i am in the airport and all checked in I do relax a bit - but then the tension swaps to my DH as he hates flying and he gets a bit nervous about the first time getting in the hire car and driving to the hotel. Once we arrive and are in our hotel and although very tired BIG smiles start to appear and the excitment kicks back in..... :cool1:

Although I love to plan my holiday I dont actually do any intinery. I like to leave each day as a suprise. We just wake and see what we fancy each morning.
Maybe you have been planning this so much you have become overplanned :confused3
There is so much more to disney that I am sure you can add a few suprises in there, I loved my horse and carriage ride and playing crazy golf.
And even if you have planned everything I can promise you that it will be totally different when you get there.
In the run up to my trip last year I had looked at pictures of the castle at MK a million times that I thought i knew it before even going, boy was I wrong. When you see it in real life its just so different, its really magical! You cant plan that special disney magic its just there :wizard:
You will have a fun time, I think you are just experiencing the calm before the storm effect, when you actually go the excitement will really kick in! :Pinkbounc
Have a fab time, I know you will :thumbsup2

I do know what you're going through, I feel like I'm stuck now. I can't plan any more than I have, I don't want to pack yet, I like to do it the day before so I don't have to repack, and i really don't want to start on my house cleandown. I want to go, but I don't feel ready to start doing the last things to get out the door. I'm worried about the hot weather, having enough money, having enough space in my bags, how to pack 5 peoples' stuff ) its choosing the right combo of cases and bags for maximum packing potential), the summer holidays are wearing me down with the 3 kids all at home, and me and DH still aren't right so I'm worried about him not ruining my good disney buzz when I get there.
I really am :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc right now. I think when you sit on the plane, maybe a glass of wine and a good book, you'll be fine. Oh yeah, try and remember its a holiday, not a WDW planning exam that you pass or fail. This is my biggest problem half the time. :grouphug:

Don't worry, you'll have an amazing time!!! I think (without wanting to sound too cheesy, lol) the 'magic' will hit you all of a sudden and from then on you'll be happiness personified!!
On our trip last year we went to NY first and the night before we were due to leave NY for Florida, we weren't as excited as I thought we'd be, we were all sad to be leaving NY. I got upset then because I thought "my God I've ruined the magic of Disney World by doing NY first" but believe me that didn't last, not at all! We got to our resort and it's as if it hit all of us all of a sudden and we were suddenly ecstatic and talking non-stop about our plans and I lost count of how many times each of us said "I can't believe we're here!!!". Then we strolled through Downtown Disney and it was just, well, sheer MAGIC!!!
I plan to a crazy extent and maybe you do too *but* that will stand to you. Perhaps right now it's diluting things a bit but that won't carry over to your holiday at all!! The magic will hit you ever stronger!!!

I'm worried about the hot weather,
I'm not sure you would notice a difference at the moment...
The mini golf at Winterland/Summerland is great. We are going to try Fantasia Gardens this trip as well.
A few trips ago we had a really great late afternoon/evening at Ft Wilderness. We took the boat over from the MK, rented a couple of water mice, walked around the main area a bit then had a great dinner at Trails End. It's a lovely place.
Both of you have a great time! :goodvibes

When we went in 1999 I planned so much that when we arrived it was an anti climax just worried that everything goes ok for everyone else.
Since then we tend to organise a few things and the rest is as it happens and yes we do miss out on doing stuff but always have a chilled time.
The problem is you tend to book a WDW holiday at least 12 months in advance so you have longer to plan and talk about it.but so many people n the DIS have the same problem, but we all end up having a fantastic time .
When you get there you will have a ball, have a great time.
68 days and counting for me

This happened to me this year. We were having a Disney world wedding and I just go so sick & tired of 'Disney' that I just couldnt be bothered anymore.
It soon went away the day we were going.
Now were home I am pining like mad to go back, but hubby says it will be a few years away now. :(

Hi Scojos :wave2:
The carriage rides can be romantic but I would say that children can go on them too. It is fun for anyone who goes on them no matter their age :thumbsup2
I would also suggest going on the surrrey bikes if you just want a bit of a break from the parks.

I totally overplanned our April trip I must have been on here and TGM every night for a full year (plus I sell holidays for a living!). Every single day was planned in the finest detail and while we accomplished a lot there were a couple of times that things did not fit in with the plan and I went into total meltdown. I would never ever go to WDW without a plan but would maybe have a bit more chill out time.
I have to say that this has almost taken away some of the magic for me. On our next trip at Christmas I am going to use TGM's touring advice again because it was spot on, but we are going to have a much more relaxed affair.
I reckon I will get excited once we drive to the airport on Boxing Day.
As others have said you probably feel like you have lived the holiday already but once you get off the plane all your hard work will pay off and I'm sure you'll be excited as ever.
