The Cast of Characters:
Me - The Disney Queen (as DH calls me). Master planner of all Disney trips! Age 31.
DH - Scott - Loves Disney, but would rather leave the planning to me. I say that is just perfect! He is 36.
DS - Chase - Loves Disney as much as mommy and daddy, but only goes on a select few rides. (We'll get into that later). He will be 4 on 8/8.
DD - Erika - A true princess (My fault! ;) ) and LOVES to eat. She just turned 2.
My Mom - We'll call her GMom. Loves Disney and loves experiencing the World with her grandkids.
My Dad - We'll call him Dude, which is what Chase and Erika call him. He takes the photos and loves cherishing this time with the grandkids as well.

Day 1 – July 17, 2006

Ah, arriving at Disney brings a smile to your face, a thrill to your psyche and to some, a pang of hunger in the stomach! This report is dedicated to those of you who appreciate fine dining, casual dining, snacking, libations, um, ok. If you like to eat, you’ll like this report! It all begins on a warm day in July as six hungry people ranging in age from 2 to 62 enter the Magic Kingdom after being woken up by the crazy Disney Queen (me!) to get to WDW as early as humanly possible!

We enter the beloved park at 11:30am and discuss our dining options. We have no ADR’s on this day. At first, we think about Pecos Bills, then our thoughts turn to Columbia Harbour House. But the Disney Queen sees that this group has barely made it past Main Street USA, so she gets an idea. The Plaza! Taking her chances, she walks up to the podium and politely asks if there is any availibility for a party of six. Well, pixie dust is showered upon her and the six hungry people are seated within 5 minutes!

Ordering is easy. One cheeseburger to share (my mom and I).
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0085.jpg
Two turkey sandwiches – one with sweet potato chips and one with potato salad.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0086.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0087.jpg
And finally, one kids’ grilled cheese to be shared between the brother and sister.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0084.jpg

The burger was very good, and the sandwiches were enjoyed by my DH and Dude. Chase ate some of the grilled cheese but had a serious hankering for a good old Mickey Bar. Daddy gave in and the kids had their Mickey Bars at the table while the rest of us inhaled our lunch.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/IMG_3219.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/IMG_3218.jpg

Being in the Plaza, I had to have some ice cream, so my mom and I shared a Mickeylodean.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0091.jpg
Very cute and simply delicious. How can you mess up vanilla bean ice cream? Erika played with the cone and placed it on her head as though she were a princess. If the crown fits…

I really do love the Plaza. It’s a nice diversion from the hectic pace of the MK and the counter service places within. This was a very nice way to begin the vacation.

Up next - Donald's Breakfastosaurus and Pizza Planet (with a very unexpected turn for the worse!)

Day 2 – July 18, 2006
Donald’s Breakfastosaurus – no pictures for this yet. I’m having technical difficulties with my new camera.

I booked this for two reasons.

1. To get into AK early so we could get on Expedition Everest
2. So that Erika could meet “D” Duck (Donald) who she has been talking about since, um, well, since she learned to talk.

We had eaten here in 2003 and I remembered it to be very good. Either I’m going senile or the quality has declined in the past 3 years.

There was plenty to choose from on the buffet. French toast, pancakes – plain and chocolate chip, scrambled eggs, two kinds of quiche, breakfast pizza, plain potatos and cheesy potatos, sausage and bacon, croissants, muffins, bagels, toast, cold cereal, hot cereal and yogurt.
Pastries

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/DSC_0057.jpg
I had some eggs, a croissant, some sausage, a yogurt and a piece of the french toast. Nothing stood out in my mind. Just your typical breakfast fare.

Deep dish apple pie.

Sausage, bacon and biscuits.

Donuts
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/DSC_0075.jpg
Character interaction was ok. A little quick, but the kids REALLY loved seeing the characters and taking pictures with them. Erika gave them all big hugs and Chase was all about the high fives!

This meal served it’s two purposes because right after breakfast, we high-tailed it to Asia for two back-to-back rides on EE! Check that out on the Trip Report (which hasn’t been started yet).

Pizza Planet

Well, this place was definitely my idea based on some reviews here on the DIS. It seemed like it would be good and it WAS. I had pepperoni pizza and salad, Gmom had a cheese pizza and salad, Scott had pepperoni pizza with no cheese (he’s lactose intolerant) and Dude had the veggie pizza and a salad. Everyone enjoyed their pizzas. Oh, Chase? He had chocolate milk and not much else. (The boy practically lived on the chocolate moo juice all week).
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0197.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0196.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0195.jpg
As you can see from this picture,
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0199.jpg
Erika thoroughly enjoyed her pizza.

So the meal was good when we ate it. Unfortunately though, when my dad got back to the hotel, he started getting sick. This lasted through the night and all the next day. He even went to a clinic in Orlando and the physician thinks he had food poisoning. Now, none of us got sick and we all ate at Pizza Planet, too. Which leads me to believe it was the veggie pizza. You see, since I had to get Scott his pizza with no cheese, I stood up at the counter and waited for it – about 10 minutes. In that 10 minutes, all the pizzas going out were either cheese or pepperoni. Not a single veggie pizza left the heat lamp. So I started thinking. If the veggie pizza my dad ate was sitting under a heat lamp for a LONG time, bacteria could certainly grow. Also, the physician at the clinic suspected that, too, and said that perhaps the veggies weren’t washed well. Anyway, we’ve come to the conclusion that if it WAS food poisoning, it was the veggie pizza. And if it wasn’t food poisoning then it was a 24 hour stomach virus. Neither are really treatable, except to get lots of rest and to stay hydrated, which my dad did.

It did take my dad about 3 days to fully recover his appetite.
This was the only glitch in the whole trip and we rolled with the punches. Dude didn’t want us sitting around doing nothing, so he encouraged us to stick with our itinerary. He joined us full force again on Thursday.

Day 3 – July 19, 2006

This morning I woke up very excited for Erika. She was going to have lunch with the Princesses! Lunch was early today – 11:30am – at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0227.jpg
We got to Epcot in plenty of time and had a chance to browse in the Norway gift shop. Soon it was time to go into the Hall. Erika’s first Princess encounter was with Ariel. And she was in her “human” form, which was very cool to see! Erika ran right to Ariel and gave her a big hug!!!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0201.jpg
We were then seated and our server, Knut, came right over and took our drink order and explained how the menu worked. I went up to the cold buffet and got some cheese – jarlsburg and muenster. I also got some mixed field greens and a slice of bread.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0203.jpg
Scott tried the ham and turkey and some of the pasta salad and a slice of the whole grain bread. I think he had some chicken salad as well.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0204.jpg
Everything on the cold buffet looked good, and what I had was delicious.

Our entrees selections were the braised short ribs,
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0212.jpg
grilled chicken with pasta and veggies
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0211.jpg
and the salmon sandwich and leek and jarlsburg cheese soup.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0213.jpg
We all shared to get to see what everything was like. I have to say, I was so happily surprised by the food here! It was so delicious. Everything was fresh and flavorful and we all enjoyed the meal very much.

Erika and Chase shared the kids pasta and meatballs. This was good, too. (Yes, I snuck a taste!).
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0216.jpg
Erika was able to meet four other Princesses. They were Aurora, Jasmine, Cinderella and Belle. She loved each and every one of them! I am so glad she enjoyed this meal.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0205.jpg

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0219.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0209.jpg
The meal’s conclusion was a trio of desserts. Chocolate mousse roll, lingonberry cheesecake and rice cream.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0224.jpg
WOW! They were all excellent, but the rice cream was heavenly! I really liked that and the cheesecake the best. I’m glad I got the WDW cookbook with the rice cream recipe. I will certainly be trying it out!!!

Great reports....looking for more. Sorry to hear about food poisoning, did they do anything for him at the clinic. My 4 yr old got sick last year and we had to stay in the hotel for 2 days. She finally felt better for the last two days or so we thought. She vomitted the whole ride in the car back to Massachusetts....that was fun!!!!!!

Day 3 – 7/19/06

Alfredo’s

Truthfully, the only reason I wanted to eat here was to try the Nutella cake. However, I went in with an open mind and not very high expectations. I’m sorry to say that the service and food was mediocre at best. Our server was WAY too pushy. He was pushing wine, appetizers, more wine – and when Scott tried to order a garden salad with the dressing on the side, the waiter kept insisting they couldn’t do that and the conversation ended with the server saying “Ok, so no salad for you.” Huh?! :confused3

I got a caesar salad even though our waiter tried to push the fresh mozzarella and tomato salad. No dude. I WANT a Caesar salad! Let me order what I want. Sheesh! The salad was fine – nothing stellar. Erika seemed to like it.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0274.jpg
Our entrees arrived shortly thereafter – everything was rushed. Salad – eat it, take the plate, bring next course. This was no relaxing meal, believe me. And boy was it noisy in the restaurant.

OK, back to our entrees. Erika had the kids chicken nuggets. She ate all but one. Chase had chocolate milk. That’s it.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0277.jpg
Scott had the trio pf wild boar and fennel sausage (am I missing an ingredient since it’s a trio? Yup, I think so!) and he substituted ziti for the beans. Wise move, man.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0278.jpg
I had the shrimp over pasta with a vodka marinara/cream sauce. It had a fancy name, but I can’t remember it.

Overall I thought the food was on par with the Olive Garden, as another DISer had put it in a review I read before we left. The presentations were nothing special. They didn’t even put fresh parsley or basil on my dish.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0276.jpg
The only part of the meal that I did think was a stand out, was the Nutella cake. It was delicious and the presentation was nice, too. Erika and I shared the cake. I love Nutella – I could eat it by the spoonful! So the cake really hit the spot.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0280.jpg
I don’t think we’ll return to Alfredo’s. But I may try to get the Nutella cake to go next time!s

Thank you very much! My grandmother keeps telling me that I treat Erika like a "doll" - I love to dress her up and do her hair! But what mother of a little girl doesn't enjoy all that girly stuff?

Glad you're enjoying the reviews. The trip report will take longer than the dining report. I'll start that this weekend.

Ashley80,

The cake was a layer of sponge cake, a custard filling and Nutella on top. Nutella is a chocolate hazelnut spread. You can find it in most grocery stores. It is SO delicious! I really loved the cake and I hope I can get it "to go" on my trip in September.

Day 4 – July 20, 2006

Today we just grabbed breakfast in the room before heading to Downtown Disney.

We decided to lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Scott had the Full Montague,
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0324.jpg
Dude had a plain turkey sandwich – he was hungry but didn’t want to push it.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0319.jpg
I had the chinese chicken salad. We all gave our lunches a big thumbs up!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0322.jpg
Gmom and the kids had Happy Meals from McDonald’s.

Dinner tonight was supposed to be ‘Ohana, but my dad didn’t want to overeat (and who doesn’t overeat at ‘Ohana??) so we were able to change our ressie to Kona Café. I think we end up at Kona on every trip. It is always a stand out to us.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0344.jpg
I started my meal with the Kona Chowder.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0346.jpg
One of the best chowders I have EVER had! And it is very filling. Gmom helped me finish it off because I really wanted dessert – the kiluea torte was calling to me, but I never got it…hang on, though. There IS a reason!

For our entrees we chose
Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi over mushroom risotto and a lime buerre blanc.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0349.jpg
I had this dish last summer and loved it. It was good this time, too, but the sauce was not balanced too well. Very acidic. They need to go easy on the lime juice next time.

My mom had the pan-asian pasta with chicken. Excellent.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0347.jpg
Scott had the panko shrimp and seared scallops. He gets this every time. Need I say more?
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0351.jpg
My dad got the prime rib well done (he still hadn’t fully recovered, but he usually orders steak medium).
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0348.jpg
He only ate about ½ of it, but saved it for later in the week. He said it was excellent, even though his stomach was making him take it easy.
The kids had grilled cheese
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0350.jpg
and chicken fingers.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0352.jpg
Their drinks were brought out with a special touch, too.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0345.jpg
So I was all set to order my beloved dessert when our server came out with a birthday cake. What? I didn’t order CAKE (at least not here – wait until we get to 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace).

Hmmmm, it seems that some of my sneakiness had rubbed off on Gmom and SHE ordered the cake in honor of my birthday (which is August 2nd.)
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0359.jpg
Earlier in the week, I surprised my mom with a birthday cake from WL private dining. Her birthday was July 8th.
Cake from WL Private Dining.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/IMG_3265.jpg
So I chose to skip the torte and eat some cake. The cake was good – your standard vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. I think the frosting was actually made with shortening instead of butter. Frosting is always better with butter, though. But I was very surprised by this gesture and enjoyed my surprise cake!

Up next: Main Street Bakery and 1900 Park Fare Dinner!!!

Day 5 – July 21, 2006

Breakfast
Today we had breakfast at my FAVORITE spot in WDW! The Main Street Bakery. We ordered 2 blueberry muffins, a crumb cake, a chocolate chip cookie and a french toast loaf.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0382.jpg
We also got grapes and I got a frozen latte. I had made a deal with myself back in March NOT to eat a single blueberry muffin until I was eating breakfast at the Main Street Bakery. So let me tell you – from the first bite of that muffin to the last crumb, I was in HEAVEN! And I just love that frozen latte. The french toast loaf was very good – we all shared that. I tasted Gmom’s crumb cake. It was ok, but my grandmother’s crumb cake beats it hands down. Chase loved his chocolate chip cookie
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0388.jpg
and Erika feasted on the grapes and the french toast loaf. I highly recommend a stop at the MSB. It is well worth it!!!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0384.jpg

Dinner
Tonight’s dinner was super special. We were celebrating Erika’s 2nd birthday at 1900 Park Fare.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0469.jpg
Originally, I had booked just me, Scott and the kids for 1900 and booked my parents at Citrico’s as a thank-you for helping make this trip possible. I had given them a $100 gift card to use at dinner as well. But, my dad asked if I would mind if they cancelled due to his not feeling well, and of course I was ok with that. I invited them to join us at 1900 even though our ADR was for a party of 4. I said we should just go and see if they can accommodate us all – AND………they did! It was no problem at all, which totally made the evening more special to me.

This turned out to be Scott’s favorite meal of the trip, which really surprised me. We’ve dined here before and he always thought it was ok. But this time he loved it and asked me to book it for our Fall getaway for MNSSHP. J

I started off getting Erika her food – pizza, plain pasta, broccoli, carrots and mac and cheese. She ate it all. Chase loved getting his own things from the kids buffet.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0478.jpg
I had to have the strawberry soup, which was so yummy!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0485.jpg
I also had a salad and a roll.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0484.jpg
I tried to sample a bit of everything. The mushroom ravioli were excellent and I also really liked the pork loin and curry chicken. The prime rib was also very good and the shrimp and asparagus alfredo was awesome! Scott tried the mediterranean pasta and really liked that as well.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0486.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0490.jpg
Chase liked making his own sundae, and I did look at the dessert bar, but didn’t get anything. But they had cookies, brownies, cheesecake, and some other yummy looking things I really can’t remember. SORRY! I will be sure to try the desserts in September!

Why didn’t I pay attention to the desserts? I was too excited for the big surprise of the evening. A birthday cake fit for a princess!!!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0497.jpg
A 10” white cake filled with white chocolate mousse and a cake topper that was a work of art.

We did have a ton of leftover cake! I gave a huge slice to a couple of little girls at the table next to us. They had been playing with Erika throughout the meal and they loved it when the cake was brought out. They were able to wrap it up and take it back to their resort.

Overall, 1900 Park Fare is a great dining experience. The food is top notch and the characters are lovely. The kids met Suzy and Perla, the Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming and of course, Cinderella. This was a great meal and I highly recommend it!!!

Thanks for all the kind replies!

DeborahB,

The camera I used is a casio Exilim EX-Z750. It's pretty small but has a nice size LCD and it's pretty easy to use. There are lots of settings like a sunset, twilight, children, food, back lit, etc. I used these setting a lot and got some really nice shots.

I should be able to finish my dining review today and get started on the trip report.

Thanks for reading, everyone!!!

Is that piece of french toast loaf 1 slice or 2? I had it last year and it was no where as big as the one in your pic's.

Anne, thank you so much for the stats on the camera. Casio was one of the brands I had originally been looking at along with the Nikon Coolpix. I wonder if the designer of the camera is a WDW fan what with the food setting and all ;)
Keep the reviews coming!

This was only one piece of french toast loaf. I've never had it before so I had nothing to compare it to, but it was HUGE!!! And delicious! ;)

Day 6 – July 22, 2006

Breakfast
We had breakfast at Roaring Fork today. I had the breakfast plate, which was scrambled eggs, potatos, bacon and a biscuit. It was fine – I don’t really think you can mess up breakfast.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0504.jpg
Chase had the childrens eggs and pancakes.

Everyone else had bagels that we had in the room.

Snack
Scott had taken Chase to the Contemporary to play in the arcade there and was hungry by the time we got to the MK for the parade at 3pm. The only problem was that dinner was at 5:25pm. But he still got a snack. A hot dog from Casey’s. He reported it to be quite good.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0531.jpg
He also got some corn dog nuggets for the kids. I had two nuggets and they were very delicious!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0532.jpg
Dinner
Tonight’s dinner was a special request made by Dude. He just loves the food at Crystal Palace. And since he was feeling like himself again, he was ready to enjoy the buffet 100%!

I had the peel and eat shrimp and a salad to start. The shrimp here are very flavorful. I think they must use Old Bay seasoning when steaming them. They are quite good!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0542.jpg
I got Erika situated with chicken tenders, mac and cheese and green beans. I think she finished it all tonight!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0544.jpg
I really love the pasta dish here with the chicken and mushrooms. I also had some corn bread and mashed potatos along with some broccoli.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0551.jpg
I went back to try the jasmine rice with cinnamon and lemon, which was very good. I also tried the prime rib which was too rare for my liking and the salmon. I also had the slow roasted pork which I really enjoyed.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0558.jpg
I remembered to sample dessert tonight. The coconut flan was awesome! I also tried the carrot cake, it was ok. The red velvet cheesecake was ok. And the brownie was boring.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0569.jpg
Chase tried the chocolate peanut butter cake.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0570.jpg

Then there was another birthday cake coming. This one was for Chase. And I had it custom made by the MK bakery.
Here it is!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0574.jpg
Yes, it has an image of the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion!!! Chase loves the HM (but hasn't been on it since he was two). But he loves the idea of it. I think he's close to riding it again.

THe cake was excellent. Scott thought it even surpassed the cake from the GF bakery. I say no way on that one, but BOTH cakes were VERY VERY good. I am so glad I now have a ton of it in my freezer!

Of course we will be back to the CP next year. Dude can't pass up his favorite place!!!

Concluding reviews to come - ABC Commissary, Tangierine Cafe and Columbia Harbour House.

A 10” white cake filled with white chocolate mousse and a cake topper that was a work of art.

How did you get that cake? We ate there last fall and saw a birthday group, but they did not have such a beautiful cake. PM me if you want sicne this is such a specific ?.

I want to order it for my SIL when she is there for her birthday this November.

The cost of the cakes are as follows.

The Cinderella Cake was a 10" cake. That part was $40.00. The topper is all white chocolate and that part was $30.00. The GF bakery also had 6" and 8" cakes available. I don't remember the cost for those.

The cake from the MK bakery was an 8" cake. The cake was $25.00 and the edible image was an additional $8.00 bringing that cake to $33.00.

Let's just say we had SO much cake last week that I told DH NOT to get me a birthday cake for my b-day on August 2nd. I've had my fill for quite a while! But it was well worth it!!!

Day 7 – July 23, 2006

Breakfast
We had cereal and bagels in the room today.

Lunch
As much as I dislike ABC Commissary, we were right by it when everyone got hungry for lunch and it just made sense with our plans at MGM for the day.

Dude and I had a cheeseburgers,
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0652.jpg
Chase had the kids chicken nuggets, Scott had the noodle and veggie stir-fry
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0653.jpg
and I don’t know if my mom had anything except a cup of coffee and a pudding and fruit trifle. Erika had fallen asleep so we gave her some lunch later on.

The burgers were fine. Nothing to write home about but nothing terrible. Scott did not like the noodle and veggie stir fry. He said the veggies tasted like they were frozen.

Like I said, this is NOT a favorite of mine, but it served its purpose on this day.

Dinner
We hopped to Epcot late in the afternoon and found ourselves in World Showcase around dinner time. We decided on Tangierine Café. Scott and I had the lamb and chicken schwarma platter with moroccan bread, hummus, couscous and some other type of salad.
My dad had the lamb wrap with couscous.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0681.jpg
Both dishes were excellent. We love Moroccon/Mediterranean food and we had been craving something like this all week.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0682.jpg
We also had some baklavah for dessert!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0683.jpg
My mom got a kids cheeseburger – she’s not into the exotic foods too much.

Oh, on our way to WS, my mom and I shared a Grand Marnier slushie from France. Oh my! This drink was amazing. I hope they have them when we go back in the Fall.

Day 8 – July 24, 2006

Breakfast
Bagels and cereal in the room as we packed.

Lunch
Columbia Harbour House

I had the chicken strips and Chase shared with me.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0717.jpg
Erika had the kids mac and cheese.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0720.jpg
Scott had the lighthouse sandwich – hummus and veggies on whole grain bread.

Dude had the Galley Salad.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0719.jpg
Gmom had the kids tuna sandwich.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/scanne/CIMG0718.jpg
This was our first time at CHH and we all really enjoyed the food. It seemed crazy busy in there, even in the upstairs seating area. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. This is another good counter service option in the MK.

Overall, our dining experiences this trip were very good. Nothing was an exceptional stand out (like last year we ate at Victoria and Albert’s and I am still talking about that meal!). We tried a few places we had never been to, as well as some old favorites, and really enjoyed ourselves.

When Scott, the kids and I go in the Fall, I will be sure to do another dining report. They’re fun for me and I hope you all have found it informative and helpful. Now I get to start the Trip Report! Look for that soon on the TR board!!!

Thanks to all for reading the reviews!!!

As you walk into the France pavillion there is a kisok on the right hand side (if you're coming from the UK pavillion). This is where they had the slushie. They also had a green apple one with some kind of apple liquer in it. I got such a brain freeze drinking this b/c if my kids had seen it, they would have wanted some! So my mom and I walked behind Scott and the kids while we chugged the slushie. Totally worth the brain freeze, though!!! ;)

We bought a roll of aluminum foil in the Mercantile at WL. I got some plates Roaring Fork. We cut the cakes into smaller chunks and wrapped them in the foil and placed them in the fridges in our rooms (my parents were in room 4006 and we were in 4004 at the WL). On our check out day, I placed the cakes in WDW bags and double checked the wrapping job. They placed this in the refrigerator for us until we were ready to leave. Since it was air conditioned on DME, at the airport and on the plane, the cake was fine and only got minimally squished. I also managed to get the Cinderella white chocolate cake topper home with only losing Cindy's head. :lmao: The kids and I snacked on it yesterday, but it started getting funky so we said our good byes to it. The cake is on the menu in about 5 minutes as our bedtime snack. Most of the cake is frozen for when I need a Disney food fix! But there's a little left in the fridge for us to enjoy tonight.

Brain freeze treatments:
1) The Ronda method: Moan in pain until pain goes away; drink more; repeat
2) Successful method: Press your tongue up against the roof of your mouth until pain disappears. This evens out the temps, aka it really works.

:Pinkbounc how much did the birthday cake cost and where did you order it from princess:

scanne

The cake was a total of $70 - but I have DDE so it was 20% less than that - $56.00. The cake was $40 and the topper was $30.00. I ordered it from the GF bakery. 407 824-2578.

You can get a 6" cake or an 8" cake - I don't think the topper will fit on top, but I have seen pictures of the smaller cake with the topper on the side of it. I asked for the white chocolate Cinderella crown and slipper cake topper when I ordered.

Hope this helps.
