DIS Boards Secret Buddies. BUDDIES WILL BE HANDED OUT TODAY!!!

I tried to take over for Idol_Fan weeks ago with the buddy thing. I took the list from the old thread ( Idol_Fan's thread) but it didn't work out exactly how I planned. Many people would come back in a pm saying they told Idol_fan they decided not to do it. That really confused me because I had to find different buddies and now feel really bad that some people didn't get gifted.

I think the most confusion was taking the list over from Idol_Fan's thread over to mine. I am really sorry to anyone who didn't get gifted. Another problem was that no one knew what certain people's VMK name's were. When I tried to contact them they never replied back. When I asked Mal what her VMK name was she said to look at "Introduce Yourself Post Your VMK Name Here" It has many peoples VMK name's. I ask that anyone who is going to participate follow the link to this thread to intoduce themselves if they haven't (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1085204)

The last problem I saw was trying to match boy's and girl's. I tried to do it Boy Boy, Girl Girl but sometimes It was hard to tell by their signature or how they put it. Like without looking at my signature but just my title you might think I'm a boy but I'm a girl. It was the names that got confusing.

Well three weeks are up and it really didn't work out. I have decided to try again but do it differently. Seeing the problem from last time has helped me how to decide to do it this time. The second week of august we will have a party. Everyone will meet each other and you can ask people to be your friend so you can locate them. Don't just ask your buddy but ask other people so it confuse's people as to who is their buddy. Try to ask at least three people ( I will post the exact date soon)

Have a Meet and greet at the beginning of the exchange so that pals can meet up and get on each others friends list. Talk with one of the Zetas (tishke would be a good one)she can give you all sorts of pointers for running a smooth exchange.

I am so glad you decided to participate in the DIS Buddies. If you have done this last time this is going to be way different for you. Instead of just telling you who they are we have a bit of information about them


Now time differences are a difficult thing to get around.Expecially if your buddy is in a different time zone. Here is a list of time zones


10:00pm Eastern Time
9:00pm Central Time
8:00pm Mountain Time
7:00pm Pacific Time

So for Example if you live in Central Time and your buddy lives in Pacific theirs a two hour time difference between you. Remember when asking your buddy where to meet, if you do, make sure that you include their time too. So don't just say meet me Tuesday at 9:00 Central time. You might want that want to say 9:00 central time/7:00 Pacific time.

Please remember some of these people you are gifting are little kids so they can't be on all night. Don't ask them to meet you at like 10:00 p.m. make sure it is reasonable, like meet me at 8:00 pm.

We will not have the party for like a week or two. (I will talk about that later) This means you have a bit of time to get your buddy the gifts they are looking for. DO NOT DELETE THIS MESSAGE! I ask you that because I get a lot of messages and when it comes time to delete some of the messages I sent you I might delete yours. Then you ask me and I won't know because I have deleted the message.

Anyways, the party will be on August 12, 2006. At

11:00 - 1:00 Eastern Time
10:00 - 12:00 Central Time
9:00 - 11:00 Mountain Time
8:00 - 10:00 Pacific Time

I cannot fit everyone’s schedule but I ask you stay for the full two hours and try to get here ASAP. We will have fun games with prizes to pass the time and a quest! Make sure to accept all friend requests!! Search for Buddies Party! My VMK name is TheDivaStar. You might know me but some of you don't so I'm giving it to you.

When coming to the party make sure to wear plain clothes, just in case your buddy worked really hard to get you something and your wearing it might make them feel bad and will make them not want to give it to you. So please not hats and no dresses, costumes, etc. That's the same for meeting your buddy. The gifting time is between the day you go to the buddy party and the 26th of August.

If after the first week you have not gotten anything pm me I will talk to that person about it. If you don't tell me you might not get a gift and that wouldn't be fun. Remember to try to get what your buddy wants.

At the end of two weeks which is August the 26,th find your buddy with your regular character and tell them you were the ones gifting them. Remember to tell them though!

It only lasted about an hour though and of course maybe 1/3 or 1/2 the people came. :sunny:Yup, I was confused by the "all times are AM" statement, so I imagine others were too, though I did address it in that thread. It went from AM to PM, so it only lasted two hours, I think? I wasn't able to make it, sadly; I had a bit of a family emergency today.

Captured--there wasn't going to be a final reveal party with this round. The initial party was to hopefully get your buddy on your friends list/mule's friends list, and Fan said to PM her, including the details she PM you with who your buddy is for her records, if you didn't get gifted within a couple weeks. It's really very hard to plan a time most can be there and commit an hour to sitting in a guest room when kids are back to school, credits need to be earned for upcoming new purchases, sports are in full swing, etc etc.

I have finalized with my buddy and revealed. It was quite fun indeed. I never did receive anything from whomever was assigned to me the first round OR the second round. Maybe DIS is too big to expect general trust from anyone who signs up on something like this. And it's not WDWFan/DivaStar's fault people don't follow through. What goes around comes around.

I'll let her know to check out this thread and she can send reminders or post the names of the buddies who still need to connect. Sometimes it's just hard to find people if you don't spend alot of time in guest rooms. :confused3
