I usually order online from Walmart.com and pick them up in the store (either a few days later for huge orders or one hour for small orders.) But this last batch I am really disappointed. The colors are just not right and I had ordered 350+ photos from our Disney trip. I don't know if it is just because I had such a large order or if the send out processing has just gone downhill. I still have tons of pictures to order from Jan-July 2006 so I need an affordable place! So tell me where you order from and why! :thumbsup2

I usually order from Snapfish and pick up my pics from Walgreens. I haven't been disappointed yet. If I'm feeling really patient or if there's a special like free shipping, I have them sent from Snapfish or Shutterfly.

We print them out ourselves. That way, all the cropping, lighting, sizing, etc. is up to me (well, actually DH does it for me) & I can print out whatever I need.

I've ordered from Walmart and wasn't happy with the color either. They were too dark. I just ordered our Disneyland photos from yorkphoto.com and was very pleased. I ordered about 500 pics and it was around $70 including shipping. I've also ordered from snapfish.com and they were ok as well.

I use Shutterfly. Any time I've had a problem, their customer service is awesome! I love the pictures. Usually and bad shots are because I took a bad one and decided to print it! :thumbsup2 I just printed 400 4 x 6, 1 8 x10, 3 wallets, 1 5 x 7 and it came to $30. Not bad -but most of it was shipping - I just wish I had gotten free shipping. I prepaid for the 4 x 6 s so they were $.12.

I print some myself, but I like to use Kodak (http://olympus.kodakgallery.com) the quality is excellent and they are delivered in about a week.

We order from www.clarkcolor.com It was recommended on another scrapping site (and they had a free print offer- most of the online places do, for your first order- so we ordered 10 prints from just about every store online I think!) and we were happy with their service and the prints. If you buy in bulk it's 9 cents a print.

I use Snapfish and they are excellent for quality and speed. I've also bought some of the picture mugs and the coasters and they too came out really well.

I always use WINKFLASH ($0.99 S&H). I used to print mine out myself but I would only get 100 good photos at like $80.00 so it wasn't worth it for me. So I put my machine away. I do use it if I only need 1-10 photos. But to come home from a disney vacation or any vacation for that matter and try to print 1000 it just wasn't worth the money. SO I always use WINKFLASH. I've have trouble with AOL phhotos. My mom got 200 photos developed and only 15 were clear the rest were blurry. I got the same ones done with winkflash and everyone came out super clear.
Hope I helped.

I use Costco...The one hour. I upload them at home, select size, crop, change colors, add text and/or boarders and have the option to have them mailed to my home or pick them up at the store (I've always just gone in and picked them up...but having the mailing option is nice)..anyhow they do wonderful quality prints at a great price...I think it's 0.17 for a standard 4x6 size and only 0.99 for an 8x10.
I've also tryed Snapfish...and the quality there was excelent also.

I've been using Walgreens. The quality of the prints has been excellent with good color reproduction.

We order from Ofoto or Yahoo. If you order from Yahoo you can pick them up at Target.

An afterthought - one thing I like about snapfish is that you sometimes get a message saying that the picture might not come out as good as you want, especially if you're trying to enlarge it. The one time I ignored the message, the picture on the 5X7 wasn't great (too pixelated) but the 4x6 was fine.

On this last trip to the World, I used Yahoo and had the pictures printed at Target. I probably printed about 600 pictures. Anytime you send the pictures, you get a coupon you can use at pickup, but I don't remember how much I spent in total. I was thrilled with the quality. And every batch was ready in about an hour (trick, if you send smaller batches, you get free one-hour processing). The only hang-up we had was when Yahoo went down for a day and it took about a day and a half to get two of my batches to Target.

Thanks ladies! Unfortunately I don't have a Walgreens close enough and I don't belong to Costco. I did try Shutterfly, Snapfish and CVS this week. So far I think I like Shutterfly the best but haven't received my Snapfish order yet. I also tried Walmart again but with a smaller order this time to see if maybe the larger orders are what they mess up.
Snapfish and ClarkColor use the same applet to upload to their sites, and so far, their quality has been equal, so maybe they have the same backend too? (not sure). However, ClarkColor gets to my house faster, as they are East coast based, and Snapfish is West coast based.
Shutterfly seems to sharpen the photos, which is great when there's not folks in the photos, but makes us who are 40+ look a little well, angular and lined. :scared:
So, I use all three, depending on what my needs are and what their specials are. :thumbsup2

Reasons I like Snapfish: Low cost prints, Low shipping rates, quick delivery, decent photos.
I've been using Snapfish, both for traditional and now digital prints. They have always been fast and I'm usually pleased with the prints. I say usually because I was more impressed with the 99 prints I ordered from Ritz Camera for sharing. But, I paid almost $30 for 99 prints compared to what I've spent for a lot more through Snapfish.
I ordered over 300 prints using a coupon code for 9 cents a print. The total with shipping was less than $50. I placed my order on a Sat. and had all the prints (307 of them) by Wed. On the last day of the sale I ordered another 30 prints at 9 cents a piece plus an 8x10 and 4 wallets (free offer from the previous purchase) and I think because of the volume of business the order took longer to process. My order was placed on Sun. and didn't ship until Fri. I only received them Monday or Tuesday. Last night I ordered 18 more prints at the standard 12 cents and those were shipped today.

Well, I use Kodakgallery.com (formerly ofoto)... I pay 10 cents a print but I also pay $50 a year for them to store my photos. Our computer crashed last October and while I had all my photos on a back up disk I really felt uneasy about it. So I pay $50 for them to keep my photos. I know they would keep them indefinitely if you order prints from them once a year but I wanted the extra insurance. Anyways, if you pay the $50 your pictures are automatically 10 cent a print. I like their quality. I've used Costco but I don't like their hit or miss quality I get with my prints. I've also use clarkphotos and they were good except their uploading process is very slow for me.

I've uploaded to Walmart, Sam's Club, King Soopers (Kroger), Creative Memories and Ritz. CM and Ritz have the best quality but higher prices. For me it's worth paying extra for the quality. One thing I really liked about Creative Memories was the information printed on the back of the photo - the folder name that the pictures were uploaded from, the date and time the pic was taken, etc.
I purchased a new digital point & shoot camera in December, printed pictures at Walmart, Sam's and King Soopers. I honestly thought I bought the wrong camera, I was so disappointed in the prints. :sad2: Then I printed at Ritz & CM (same pictures) as a test - Wow! What a difference.
With Ritz you can pick them up in the store or have them shipped. CM only ships and usually arrives in a week. Both sites will tell you the best print sizes and let you crop the photos. Other editing you can do before you upload.

I've used several different services--mostly because they come with a free # of prints for signing up.
Snapfish/Walgreens--easy pick up at Walgreens in 1 hour or less. Good quality--not great (I've used 2 different stores with 2 different machines).
Shutterfly--ordered a photobook for DH (free from Amazon) & prints. Better quality prints than Snapfish/Walgreens. Book was awesome.
Scrapbookpictures.com--very cool borders & overlays, very easy use as far as cropping your pictures yourself, lots of finishes available (metallic is VERY cool, though a bit pricy). Love this service for enlargements & odd size prints. Best quality so far. The matte finish is great.
Dotphoto--Just used this service (sign up offer through Sunshine rewards). For low cost & 4x6 prints--this is my choice service. I was very impressed with the color quality of the prints I got just yesterday. Better to me than Shutterfly or Snapfish/Walgreens.
All of the above had great, fast service.
Mostly, though, I print at home. Just easier--print the sizes I want when I need them. Of course, I'm at least 20 minutes away from any pick up site.

i use shutterfly and dotphoto.com - prepaid plans are less per photo at dotphoto - and i try to save all mine till the next "free shipping" that's offered at either online service - takes 2 days usually before they're in my mailbox - and they both offer 'free' photo storage just in case my computer crashes, my cd's are burned or whatever other disaster - not that i'd want to ever recreate my 25 completed scrapbooks.....

I can't believe Kidak charge you to sote photos - Snapfish do it for free! And you can share your pics online and your friends and relatives can order their own copies if they want any (a BIG saving, and much better than the old "develop them nd then get an extra 10 of that pic" way)

I'm sorry you might have misunderstood me. Kodak will store your photos for free if and only if you order from them regularly. However, there is always a possiblity they can lose your photos or only allow so many pictures on their site. I have over 12,000 photos. So I wanted to guarantee that I have my photos in a secure place. I break even on the $50 after ordering 500 prints. I can easily order 500 prints over a 3 month period.
Other companies are just as good. Just do what works for you.

I use Kodak Gallery ... GREAT service GREAT quality! I have them delivered to my local CVS which is two blocks away!! The delivery charge is $1.49 and 4x6 prints are $.15 each!! I also order 5x7 prints for $.99 ... on sale they were $.69!! I usually order a couple hundred pics at once ... mostly Disney pics, of course!!
In an emergency I will print at home ... Kodak is better so I don't do it often! :goodvibes
I tried Winkflash ONCE ... NEVER again!! The pics were grainy and dark! :confused3

I've tried Snapfish, Winkflash, Kodak, Dotphoto, and Shutterfly. I stick with Shutterfly because the pics are great, and other family members use it which makes it easy to share pics/albums etc. :thumbsup2

This thread came at just the right time! I am looking into switching from Snapfish. Consumer Reports rates Kodak as number one in quality with Target (through Yahoo) being second. It's good to read personal experiences with Kodak and Target. :thumbsup2

I give a big thumbs up for scrapbookpictures.com
I am extremely picky with my pictures and have been very dissapointed with Walmart, Walgreens, Target, Sams and Shutterfly. I have paid loads of money to these sites to be given pictures with bad coloring. (too green/yellow..that kind of stuff)
I tried Scrapbook Pictures after seeing an advertisment in my scrap magazine and I was blown away by the quality. Since then, I have ordered thousands of pictures through them & have only had ONE picture where they missed a red-eye.
This company has people who automatically adjust your pictures for color (instead of a machine to read it). This makes a difference as I never get pictures back that are off-color. Plus they automatically take out red-eye for you. No need to manually do it for every picture like the other sites. Picture costs are comparable to shutterfly & the old walmart prices (at about 18 cents a picture). Shipping is flat rate- $2. Regardless of how much you order. And turn around time is pretty fast. I've gotten pictures as fast as two days after placing an order. Plus, as a scrapbooker, the photo sizes/borders & picture options are out of this world. I have not ever found a site that comes close to being able to reproduce this.
I love this site & will never order pics from anywhere else. Only bad thing is they don't have a share feature. So I usually end up downloading to both this site & shutterfly (so I can share the pics with friends and family!)
Good luck with your search!

I agree with 44Sun about CM processing. They are great quality, but I balk at the price. I use Shutterfly and the quality is just as good!

I have used snapfish, their quality is very good and the price is right, if you prepay, .10 per print for a 4X6!!!! Not bad!!! Also, they now give you the option of printing at home from their site after downloading, which is nice. In other words, you can share photo albums with family and friends and just pick and choose which photos you want to print and print at home! It also gives you the option to print different sizes. I like that!!!!
I usually print most of my photos at home now, I have an Epson printer and get the Epson Premium High Gloss Photo Paper and the pictures come out like they were done by a professional! Its really amazing, and they are water resistant!

Is the Epson paper thick like "real" pictures? We have some Kodak paper and it's very thin, which was very disappointing.

I think it is. I have never had a problem with it. The quality is excellent and I would recommend to everyone, however only use with the Epson printer. Otherwise you will not get the same quality!!!! They are made for each other. The ink and the paper just work beautifully together. I promise you will not be disappointed if you spend the money! I do 8X10 pics and I love the outcome! They look like they came from a professional!
You can usually get the Epson printers for around $120.00 too! Not a bad deal for the quality they give!

I'll have to try Epson paper too.
Also, do you have problems with the ink. Mine won't print photos unless the ink cartiages are at least 3/4th full. Weird I know??

Cisco- That is strange! I don't have that problem with my printer, did you try cleaning the heads? Maybe it just needs that? Not sure... Send Epson an e-mail and let them know, perhaps they can trouble shoot the problem with you on-line, or help you out!!!
Fran - You will notice a definate price difference with the epson paper! Trust me though, it is worth it! Make sure you use the Premium Glossy!!!!
Consumer Reports put Kodak as #1 because they have good quality prints and they are among the least expensive per print at .15 plus about $2.50 shipping. I printed mine at Costco and they were not the best.

I am a Shutterfly girl! I had a horrible experience with Wal-Mart messing up my Honeymoon pictures negatives and all (back in 99 so pre-digital) and I will never use them again. I have been using Shutterfly since 2002 and have always been extremely pleased with the quality. I used OFoto once and didn't care for them at all. I always get the prepaid packages and then order the prints because it is cheaper that way.
