Hey all i just read on the Resorts board that in 2007 AKL will be offering a "new" concierge level. It will be the standard room instead of the Deluxe room, and have a lower price.More than one person has been told by AKL IPO office that the deluxe CL rooms will not be available.....
I'm thinking that this is a sign that AKL is going to start a refurb, probably working from the top down. Since its also been disclosed recently that AKL will be undergoing room structure changes it seems to fit.In 2007 AKL standard view rooms will no longer have bunkbeds, they will only be in savannah view rooms and have an extra charge over regular savannah rooms.
Its fits into the 5-6 year refurb plan as AKL opened in 2001.
Anyone heard anything?

When we stayed CL level at AKL last month we talked to a couple of CMs who mentioned that CL would be closing by the end of the year for a refurb of the lounge and CL floors (which are currently 5 & 6 I believe). It would make sense to me that perhaps they will use some of the lower floors (standards) for CL (maybe they'll use the 6th floor lounge for them and refurb the lounge last, or maybe they'll set up another lounge somewhere :confused3 ) - don't really know. I also heard the rumor while there (from multiple CMs) that there is serious talk of AKL DVC being built in a new building with it's own savannah (another horseshoe, completing a 'circle', of sorts, out of Arusha) - now that's what I'm waiting for ! :thumbsup2

If they built DVC there, i'd buy in a heartbeat - the only thing thats kept us out of DVC is that we didn't "love" any of the DVC resorts enough to sink heavy $$ in them-
I wonder where they will put the temporary lounge?

It make sense because no CL are available in early dec.
