Hey, guys! How's everyone been? Patsy, I hope that your family is much better now.

I have to brag, been away with Carol's high school band in Branson for a competition. Those kids are awesome! They are such a well behaved group. We had a great time. And brought back a 4' trophy for best band over all.

Hi Susan. I wish I could say that we are better but we are all still sick.
Congratulations to all of the band members  .

As for a smile.....a mom preparing a meal then bringing it to the table to feed her family :).

Patsy--sorry you're all still sick.

While I was at camp last week with DS11, both the dog and DS6 got sick, and DH had to deal with it all. I was not laughing when he called to tell me :rolleyes1

Tim tams are actually from Australia or New Zealand and there is a store in Texas-not sure where that sells them. They are yummy if you ever get to try them.

It would be a chocolate souffle in the shape of mickey, with whipped cream, fresh berries, and sprinkled with Mickey shaped sprinkles.

Pooh67_68
05-05-2007, 07:36 AM
In the regional exchange I received an English cookbook. I will share a recipe from it.

Yorkshire Pudding
4 oz. flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 medium eggs
1/2 pint milk and water mixed
2 tablespoons beef dripping, from the roasting pan.

Prepare the batter by placing the flour and salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre and break the eggs into this. Using a wooden spoon or an electric whisk, beat the eggs and gradually add the milk and water, incorporating the flour a little at a time. Beat until the batter is smooth and leave to stand in a cool place for about one hour.
Remove the roast beef from the oven and keep warm or transfer to a lower shelf. Raise the oven temperature to 425º Place the beef dripping in an 11"x7" roasting pan and place in the oven until very hot, by which time the oven will have reached the higher temperature. Remove from the oven and pour the batter into the pan. Return to a high shelf in the oven and cook for approximately 25 minutes until risen, golden brown and crisp. Cut into squares and serve immediately.

Since it is Boy's Day, here is a recipe that I made for it.

Baked Mochi
1 pound mochiko-(16oz.box)-mochiko is Japanese flour
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
2 cups water
1 can coconut milk-(12 oz.)
1 tsp. vanilla
food coloring-red or green

Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add water and coconut milk gradually until well mixed. Add in the vanilla and a few drops of the food coloring. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan. Cover tightly with foil. Place the pan in the center of the oven. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Uncover and cool for several hours. Cut into squares using a plastic knife and coat the mochi lightly with mochiko so that it does not stick to each other.

I love me some Won Ton soup - It's different than at a Chinese Restaurant, and for the main course I usually have Braised pork and shrimp over rice vermicelli and vegetables. I love their iced tea too, it's Jasmine! Ian always gets nearly the same thing, but instead of pork & shrimp it's pork and eggroll. SO GOOD!

As far as a good role model for the kids (my daughters anyway) I like Raven. She's not anorexic and she's comfortable in her own skin. Me, personally...I don't know. I think my problem is my kids tend to watch the shows alot so know they all get on my nerves!!:rotfl:

What is your most favorite month out of the year, and why?

I had to really think about this, and my answer surprised me! I'd say October, even tho I hate cold weather. I like when Fall begins and there's a crispness to the air.

Jake is doing really well, thanks! He was a trooper and ate and drank, so I didn't have to fight with him over that. The part that was hard was no school for a week, and no physical activity for 2 weeks! Thank goodness that's over with! :rotfl:

He's been a lot calmer, too. The dr said that sleep apnea from snoring and snorting all night could cause him to have been tired all day and act up. I'm not saying it was all tiredness, cause he still talks too much :rotfl2: but he's definitely calmed down.

For me, cereal or pop tarts. The kids eat the same except my DS loves grits! He makes his own in the microwave.

For big breakfasts, Eggs or pancakes, hash browns, sausage or bacon.

I am way behind!! Just got back from CA....DDIL is graduated! party: Now to pass the bar in July

Restaurants...one of my favorite topics!! ::yes::
Dianna....we LOVE  Red Robin!! We just got one about 12 miles from here (that is close ;) ). I live 10 minutes from town, so I consider anything within 45 minutes "close".
I see that one is going in FL soon, so maybe they will do more and one will be near you.
Del Tacos are in my state, but none close enough :(
I do see my their locator map they are in some mid west states, so they are expanding too.
We went to Melting Pot for DS's rehearsal dinner, but it is 50 miles away.

What do you like to eat for breakfast on a regular work day, and also on a special family weekend like day where you have the time to cook a bigger breakfast?

On a normal day I have All Bran Buds and either grapefruit or strawberries. On the weekends, eggs and toast.
I would like to have pancakes and sausage .,....and blueberry muffins (but I am trying to be "good").

What is your most favorite month out of the year, and why?

December....I love holiday season time!! Decorations, good food and family.

What is your most favorite type of seafood?

If you are allergic to seafood or dislike it, what is your most favorite dessert?

I don't care for most seafood. If I have it I want it breaded and fried and drowned in some kind of sauce....like Dianna, it can't taste fishy!!

Dessert......a good chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies out of the oven.

Now you'll know the truth about me... I'm really not a fan of the Parks so much. :rotfl: i was employed by them (DRC) and loved booking people's vacations for them, and loved the "magic" I could spread, and the little bits I could tell them about (Where to sit for the best views of the fireworks.. my favorite places... etc) but I honestly CAN'T stand the lines. So I don't go very often. Right now I have 2 employee tickets that expire in 2 months, and I'm trying to find a day to use them. *sigh*

That being said, When I do go, I HAVE to ride all the rollercoasters. The trip isn't complete until I do. Oh and I have to have a Disney Rice Crispy treat, because they are, BY FAR the very best... EVAR.

We always have to visit DTD and eat at Rainforest Cafe, Wolfgang Pucks and Earl of Sandwich.

We always buy the refillable mugs -- use them all year taking my coffee to work!

No matter what resort we stay at, we always have to go over to the Boardwalk area and walk around, eat at ESPN and long for our favorite BWI!

At Epcot we always have to ride the golf ball ride (Spaceship Earth) when we arrive and before we leave. We also always go and send ourselves the free virtual postcard picture!

At MGM I must ride the scary rides a few times and laugh at how I look in the photos screaming.

So many "have to's"!

There are so many where to start. I would prefer to remove many too.

If you were to make a new law for your state, what would it be?

That's an easy one:

First new law ~ child predators can not live within a few miles from an elementary school and the neighborhood they move into should be notified of their presence. (right now the law states not living within a few 1000 feet -- but I know a guy who moved in down the street from the school I work at who sits outside his garage every day when school lets out. Creepy)

Second new law ~ ban the sale of private fireworks ~ even for "farm reasons", which is how people get around the law. They scare pets, small babies, and old ladies. I hate hearing firecrackers and m-80 bombs going off late into the night for weeks on end around every holiday. Including today, last night and probably a few more nights until these fools run out of their buy one get three free deals.

Opps....we LOVE fireworks party: July 4th is our big bash....but we live in the country.

No talking on cell phones while driving!! Always got ran into...again
Lots more, but that is the one that is annoying me the most right now.

If you were to have a garage sale, what three things would you like to get rid of?

Pooh67_68
05-29-2007, 05:39 AM
Right now nothing, we have pretty much gotten rid of everything we didn't want or need.

I didn't answer the last 2 QOTD, as there is no TV shows that I watch on a regular basis, and even if I could think of a new law there would be people still doing what is illegal and not enough cops to stop them.

I just saw a cruise advertised that sails to the ports in Massachusetts. I love history, so this would be fun for me.
Now my children however, have been asking to go on a Disney cruise.

Meriweather

I've already cruised to Alaska and the Mexican Riviera.
Our next cruise is through the Panama canal (Disney :hyper: ). Really looking forward to that!!
I would also like to do the east coast one in the fall from Boston to Montreal and the Norweigan fjords.

My only cruise wasn't even a real one! I was a travel agent in NC and they let us on a Royal Carribean new ship overnight (I think it was Majesty) as a trial run for all the people working on board.

So, saying that.....I would take ANY cruise! :-) Probably a Disney cruise in our future, since we'd have to take the kids.

I just looked at your ticker, Nancy and got all excited thinking you would be in WDW when we were....but you'll be cruising, now that I look again.

We have never cruised and don't seem to have a desire to. I would think the first would be a Disney cruise. One to Alaska would also be nice.

sorry :( Wish I was going to Disney....don't see that anytime soon.
That is just a little 3 day cruise to Vancouver Island, but it will be fun. I don't have room for my Disney cruise counter up yet :( After the trip to AZ it will be added.

You, know crusing never excited me until I finally did one. Now I LOVE them!! Best way to travel. Take your room with you....no packing to change locations and always so many fun and interesting things to do on the ship.

Good morning everyone. Welcome to another month....don't forget to change all of your calendars.

Here is today's QOTD-
*What is your most favorite childhood story, and why?

So I guess yesterdays QOTD was not popular huh :rotfl2: .

Let's see if today's QOTD will bring in more answers :lmao: .
If you were to recieve three different types of Disney trading pins, what type do you hope to recieve? And which three types do you hope not to recieve?

Patsy, I couldn't get on yesterday morning and by late morning I was at my aunts, no computer.

But I don't think I can answer the question anyway. Let me think on it.

Pooh67_68

Well of course I would hope to get at least 1 Pooh, but it really doesn't matter because I collect all Disney Pins.
There aren't any that I wouldn't want.

My favorite story would probably be Winken, Blinken and Nod. I loved that one!

Pins...3 I'd like: any Chip and Dale, any Pluto, Mickey as a chef

3 I'd not like: Hmm..Princesses (not my thing), Lion King characters, villian ones

I love park attraction pins ::yes::
I would like the new Nemo ride one (both WDW and DLR)
Also any pins from the parks not in the USA

I don't care for pins with Pooh :duck: , and ones based on Disney TV shows (like Kim Possible)
