Like Patsy said, I'd never want to try tripe or other odd organ meats. I don't like the look of lobster or shrimp either, even though they are very popular. I am actually quite picky when I think about it!

Oh, I also like dobash cake ;) yum. That makes four for me :).
The stocking exchange is a stuffed one. You would get a Christmas themed stocking for your pal-plain, decorated one, or handmade, .... and you will fill it with items that your pal likes. So little this and thats.
But for the Christmas present one, it is one or two bigger presents wrapped up in Christmas wrapping paper or presented in a fun gift giving way.

Thanks for the comments on my new pic guys. :cloud9:
Todays answer..
Right this moment I would have to say some disney pins..lol I just went through ours today and was letting Ethan pick what he wanted to keep and trade and after him going through them and us going through them it only leaves us 6 pins to trade on when we go to Disney next Saturday so I am so bummed over that b/c I know we will have those traded away in no time and the rest of the trip I will be dying to do more trades. It is so addicting. ;) So yeah, pins would be my choice.
Then after that a close second would be some pretty fall decorations or fall scented yankee candles. :rotfl: Yes I love my yc's!
AND THEN...after that it would be the new bath and body works scents Sensual Amber and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin! YUMMYY! Have you guys smelled these? I was just in the store a couple days ago and smelled them and oh my how good they smell! Also they have little sample size bottles out of 3 in one shampoo, body wash and bubble bath in 3 fall scents that smell just wonderful!
Goodness this is making me want to go shopping. :rotfl:

DISNEYFANRI

My kitchen is blue- I don't really have a "theme" but I do have some folk art items and I have a large collegtion of Cat's Meow Village pieces that are displayed throughout my house - so the restaurant and bakery buildings are in my kitchen.

I have white counter tops, a decision I truly regret, but I couldn't make up my mind, and the builder had to know. But, I do love my cat walk shelves, and my border. I did green ivy on them. I accented with wine bottles filled with colored water. Kent and I met at the Olive Garden so I used the old round Principato 1L bottles with the decorated corks.
mickeyfan2
09-24-2006, 05:23 PM
The cabinets are oak, the island counter is dark blue marbled tiles, the other counters are almond and the floor is almond with dark blue tiles. There are many Disney itelms on the cabinet tops, but no actual theme.

Just wanted to let you exchangers know that the date for the Christmas Stocking Exchange has changed to Oct. 21st.
Hopefully this will be easier in sorting out exchanges since the present exchange will start on Nov.1st.
Also, this way, you can be on the lookout for stockings. Or if you want to start now, it will be the same as last year. You can buy a decorated or simple stocking-regular sized, no minis. Or, you can make one if you wish.

My kitchen is done in a bear theme (you know, those Big Sky Bears from Montana?). Multi shades of brown in our ceasar stone counter tops, black appliances, walls are currently white but I plan to paint them soon. Our nearly floor to ceiling windows look out on the Rockies and Pikes Peak, thus the theme.

We have had buffalo (I did try that), it was too strong for my taste (sold in the grocery store now...so guess it isn't "exotic" :rotfl: ).

I want to meet Patsy :) And Kirby :) All my long time exchange pals :) We've had such fun over the years.
I have met Dania :)

I was a flower one year. My mother spent a huge amount of time making it. The petals surrounded my face, made out of wire hangers with fabric over it. I had a felt pollen, yellow covering for my hair, green tights, leotard, and felt leaf green skirt. I pulled it out of the cedar closet for Sam to wear this year for Halloween. She was so excited, and was all smiles, but she showed it to her friends and they laughed and laughed, so :( she said she doesn't want to be it now.
But I agree, we always made our costumes, we never bought them. :)

I made all my kids's costumes when they were growing up. Took loads of time, but they sure were cute.
And last year, I made my DD's. It came out GREAT!! But was a PITA and cost a small fortune. She has to wear it for many years :rotfl:
It is a gypsy...I know I have a picture....some where ;)
found it.
It has skirt, overskirt, wrap, blouse, vest and head thingee...and I added the bag for her candy ;) hard to work with material too, especailly with my old, worn out machine.

There are a bunch of people that I would like to meet, especially certain exchangers that I have gotten to know better through the exchanges and pms.
I didn't like dressing up for Halloween. I remember one year I was Rainbow Brite. I had like the smock thing on with a Rainbow Brite mask.

The only thing I have up right now is my Yankee candle Pumpkin Tart Warmer.
And, the Pumpkin on the door step that Trey and I decorated. We used those new things from Potato Head. It is so cute. We used the Frankenstein Kit.
Otherwise I need to make a trip to the attic to get everything else.

Fall Decorations..... Don't really have them up yet. A few window clings on the front windows and alot of apples around the house from apple picking. A few things that DS has made at school are up too
What to find in my stocking? ....

Hi exchangers!
First off, let me say that I LOVE these exchanges, and I very much appreciate the work that the hosts put into them. You guys are awesome!
Is there a comprehensive list of all exchanges that are done? I have seen new hosts try to start an exchange to be told that one already exists, and I was wondering how one would know? There is the sticky of upcoming exchanges, I know. But is there a list of all annual exchanges? I know sometimes people have a new idea for an exchange, and it isn't a regular from year to year, but maybe some of you guys who have been doing this for a long time could help the rest of us out so we don't step on any toes. I understand not wanting to do too many exchanges on the same items because it will make people lose interest. Thank you so much! :)

No there is no list. The best thing that you could do is to check with the long time hosts and see if it was done before or not. If we are not sure, then we will ask each other and get you an answer.
But, I also wanted to add here that I will be starting the Christmas Present Exchange sign ups today. It will be the EARLY Christmas Present Exchange. So if anyone is interested in joining in, come and check it out. :santa:.

Ok so what is a good exchange for someone who LOVES stuff like this but is afraid to jump in. I always sign up for sercret santa, valentine etc. I love the shopping and the getting something I don't know about. Everyone always gives me money for everything :sad2: Which is great but I want the SURPRISE factor. So which exchange would be good for me. Proably any :rotfl2: :confused3 Also is anyone going to the used book exchange again now that is one I could do for sure for sure.

I am hosting the Early Christmas Present Exchange right now if you would like to join us for that. You never know what you will recieve.
I think there will be another used book exchange in the future...you will just have to keep an eye out on this board for it, or you could ask the past organizers if they will be hosting it again.

Any of the big chain restaurants (TGIFridays, Chili, Applebee) there are some around but we have to travel pretty far to eat at one. So putting one closer would be nice.

So what kinds of things do people send for the early Christmas gifts?
Also, with the stocking exchange, I assume that we fill the stockings before sending? What kind of $ amount is usually on that one?
I am just trying to plan out how I can do the next few exchanges. Thanks!!

There are all kinds of gifts that are sent for the present exchange.
Participants list some favorites, to give the sender an idea of what they like....and you can go by the info. that they sent in, or you can just by a random gift just for that person.
The present exchange is open to the first 50 participants, so hurry if you would like to join us.

Las Vegas!! I love people watching, the shows, SHOPPING!! and the food :)
Okay, we went to Vegas in Oct 2005, LOVED it. We had the best time.
We went again in July, 2006 and I was a little beaten down by all of the gambling. Then the people we went with thought I was a "stick in the mud"
I just love going to ALL the different hotels, sightseeing, eating, people watching...I got kind of "bored" with the non-stop blow our money at the tables.
I would like to go again as long as my hubby would agree to not just gamble the whole time.
Meriweather
10-09-2006, 09:31 PM
I don't gamble much...a little in the machines. That's it.
I like all the other stuff ::yes::
I also enjoyed our cruise to Alaska and would like to do that again sometime.

I've really been out of the loop. Busy working since I took all that vacation time. Ice cream - I love chocolate peanut butter ice cream, or just plain new york vanilla with lots of hot fudge sauce. Trip- I love going to any beach. Last year I went to Mazatlan. Loved it, my dh and I are going on a Carribean cruise in December. I am excited about that. Also my ds is turning 13 the end of Oct. So I need to do something special. I am taking him to Disney quest. I know I am crazy, but we are going Friday-Monday the first weekend in November. :thumbsup2 Pop Century for $79 night. I got 2 free airline tickets with my northwest world perks. So I couldn't pass up the great deal. I bought a season pass in August. I am alittle obsessed! I did get Boo'd...but I don't see it in anyone's sig. All I see is a grey box with a ? in it. :eeyore: I'm workin on it so I can do the Boo-ing!
We do something like this in our development. I have a little flyer that explains it, and we leave the flyer, a ghost you can hang outside and candy. Knock, leave the candy and run!
By Halloween we've all got the ghosts flying. Well, almost all. Lots of Mennonites who think Halloween is bad. Ah, well...

I was booed by 3 different people. I can not see the pumpkin in Patsy or Meriweather's siggys.
I could see it as an avatar of SillyMe, so I right clicked on it, saved it to my computer and uploaded it to my photobucket account. Copied and pasted from there.
So how many of you had gotten BOOed? :rotfl:
Pooh67_68
10-10-2006, 10:26 AM
I always smile at people and almost always get a smile back. I especially smile at people who seem to be angry or upset.
This past Sunday, my mom told her Nephew that he is going to Disney with us. The card she gave him, I had a DISer make up for me. So I helped to make him cry. (but a good cry)
So the question of the day is-
What sort of special little things have you done for people to make them smile?

That sounds like fun.
I am now able to see everyones jumping Mickey.
And as for my answer to the question of the day, I had booed more DISers this morning, and just like Michelle, I have something ready to be sent to hopefully put a smile on that persons face. Just having to get it sent out.

Just wanted to say hi. We just made it back from our trip and had a pretty good time. The crowds were just insane though. Ethan had a great time though he was so upset b/c he wore his donald shirt in hopes of seeing him and in the whole 9 days there my child did not see Donald one single time. He is still sad over that.
He did get to see some other great characters though. :)
I will read up and try to catch up on questions soon. :goodvibes

Hi Exchangers. I need help....
I am thinking of what to put both Brandon and Shayla into to take their Christmas pictures in. I will be taking a regular photo and making it into a Christmas card.
I usually get Shayla a Christmas dress-which she uses just 3 times and then it gets stored away and never used....so I was thinking either putting them in their regular clothes, or getting them both a Christmas colored-ex.red outfit.
I had seen a dress for Shayla-size 3T or maybe a 4T, but nothing for Brandon yet-0-3 months right now and a 3-6 month maybe in a month or two.
So, if anyone sees cute outfits that are not warm-Brandon gets hot fast so an onsie would be great, or something similar online, could you post about it here.
TIA. :goodvibes
