Not just in the month of march right?
Well every year we go to a local Family Camp (Faith Based) its a nice way to get away from jobs, stress back home, etc.
We also go on little day trips like to the Zoo, etc.

I would be nice to have some kind of fast food to be nearby. I'd be happy with a Wendy's.
THere's a strip mall coming in soon...we've all been waiting for it because the rumor is Target is the anchor store.

While I don't really have a choice, we are entering into baseball season. This is my son's last season of High School, so guess what I'll be doing 3 days a week. You got it, watching games, I love watching his games, I'll miss it when he graduates. Not sure how many college games we'll get to next year since he'll be about 5 hours away.

Hello Everyone!! I'm just checking in. I haven't been doing to much lately. I've been pretty sick.
We had really bad storm last night - this morning I found our trampoline 4 feet off the ground into the trees!! :scared1: So it's been fun trying to get it down!!
So for the QOTD
-What would you make with the following ingredients?
*Peanuts-
*Pork-
*Slices of American cheese-
*Lettuce-
*Shrimp-
I have no idea!! But I can tell you nothing with the lettuce. It's strictly for sandwiches and only DH's at that!! I guess I would coat the pork with crushed peanuts and bake it, then in the last few mins throw the cheese on top. I'd just cook the shrimp normally.

I would be glad to. It's very easy.
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup milk
1 pkg corn muffin mix
chicken
In a saucepan, blend together soup and milk. Heat until bubbly. Turn into a 9X9X2 inch pan. Add chicken, distributing evenly. Meanwhile, prepare corn muffin mix according to package directions. Spread over chicken mixture. Bake at 425 degrees about 20 minutes or until brown.
Note: the recipe calls for 2 cans (5 1/2 oz ea.) boned chicken. Instead I cook either two chicken breasts or four thighs and cut them into bite size pieces.
I also add a tablespoon of sugar to the cornbread mix if it is not pre-sweetened. My aunt who gave me the recipe uses Jiffy cornbread mix but I find that too sweet. I prefer to use Martha White's yellow cornbread mix and add sugar to it.

For the next two weeks, my daughter who is five will be off for Spring Break. I will have to think of things that we can do at home, that are simple, and things that are not too messy since her little brother will get into things, and would want to join us. So, creative minds out there, what can we do? Some things that I already am thinking of doing are, Easter, and St.Patricks Day crafts, a treasure or scavenger hunt, outdoor play, water fun, working in the garden, and cooking/baking.
Also, what did you do during Spring Break when you were growing up, and what did you do, or what will you be doing with your kids?

You would put together all of your info.
Name, address, cost of exchange, send by dates, and so fourth. Tell the participants what type of exchange it is, and what is required of them, ....
And have participants pm you to sign up.

We're heading to downtown Dallas tomorrow for another three hours during the lunch hour. Hopefully we'll sell off what we have left.

You're up early this morning Nancy. How are you doing?
I thought I would never fly again but one of the chaperones for Carol's band trip to New York had a stroke this week and I said I would fill in. I'm a nervous wreck!! My doctor has prescribed some generic Xanax. I've never taken the stuff. I hope that it works!

Happy Easter Everyone!!!
I was looking online at different stores, and I came across a store that sold lemon bundt cakes for an :scared1: eye popping amount. Wow, if I could sell my cakes at that price, and go into business, I would be very happy.
So today's QOTD is-
If you were to make something to sell online, what would it be, and how much would you charge for it before shipping, and handling?

What different types of party favors have you recieved at parties, and weddings? Which one was your most favorite, and least favorite?
Kirby

The only wedding I've been to that had party favors was my neice's. Everyone (couples received one together) received a wallet sized pewter photo frame that had our name written on a creme sheet of paper. It's very nice.
I haven't received party favors at a party since I was a kid.
One thing I've seen that I've liked is the Yankee Candle party favors. Maybe I'll see one of those at a wedding one day.

At my niece's wedding we made chocolate molded lollipops. It was a western theme and we did hats and boots.
For my wedding...almost 17 yrs ago....we had potpourri sachets. I still have a few and they still smell good:thumbsup2
I've actually received Save the date "favors". My DH's family is quite wealthy and when they send out the save the date cards we get custom tins with mints, magnets, tin match cases, all kinds of stuff! I'm sure the favors for these weddings have all been amazing too, but we don't attend. Too much pressure on what to give as a gift:confused3 :headache: Besides they are usually in North Jersey (at least 2hours away) and our kids are never invited.

We attended a wedding of a dear friend of ours and they had the reception at a local winery, they had small bottles of wine with their names and wedding date printed on the label and gave as favors. When I spoke to them a couple of months later she told me that they didn't even get one, I felt bad because she really wanted one, some of her guest were taking two or three bottles.
When my boys were younger and still had parties, I would put together favors for their b-days such as school supplies (I put all kinds of supplies in a pencil box), plus a beach favor (I purchased beach items and placed them in a sand bucket). We had summer b-days, I really miss those days when I planned parties for them.

As for the QOTD-I thought that for most parties, people gave out favors. I know that for birthday parties that we attend here, we don't always get favors, and something the kids only recieve candies that they get from the pinata, while other times, they may also recieve goodie bags. I guess I learned something new.

Hey, guys! I'm back and I survived! Thank God for Xanax!!!
We stayed at the Grand Hyatt and walked to Times Square every day, sometimes more than once. The hotel was fabulous! And the beds were great! The kids sounded great in Carnegie Hall and we got to keep the playbill that was posted on the outside. Thursday night we went to see Wicked. If you get a chance, it's definately a must see musical. The kids were so hyped up about it that the band director decided that Wicked will be their marching season program next fall. He had already decided on something else but since this next year is not a state competition season, this will be so much more fun to do and they will have a good time playing around with it.
We went to the Twin Towers area and our tour guide did a very good job of talking to us about it. The band went on a Circle Line Harbor Tour. I tried to go but just 10 minutes on the docked boat, I had to get off. So, I had the privilege of walking all the way from the harbor to my hotel. There were no cabs to be had until I got to Broadway and by then I knew that I didn't have that much farther to walk so I just kept going.
Friday evening we met up the the Naked Cowboy on Times Square. You know the one that only wears a cowboy hat, boots and a pair of tighty whiteys? The girls that were with me were so excited to get a picture with him!
Did anyone happen to see the band on GMA? Carol was on tv. In the last 30 minutes you could see her behind Chris as he talked with the visiting chef. The kids loved being on GMA even though they had to be outside the studio by 6 am and stood in line for over an hour. Then they were crammed in like sardines for two hours. Carol said she really liked Robin but thought Diane a little stuck up.
If you were to teach a subject at a high school, what would it be?
Remedial math if they were to offer it. I love algebra and trig but would not like to teach it.
If you were to be any type of doctor, what would you specialize in, and why?
I don't think that I would like to be a doctor.
If you had to eat out everyday for dinner by yourself, which restaurant would you choose, and what would be your top three things that you would choose to eat?
To be honest, I don't have a favorite restaurant at the moment but my favorite would be one that had a huge selection of different foods to eat.
If you were to be a voice of a cartoon character, which character would you pick?
Jerry of Tom and Jerry. He doesn't speak. ;)
If you were to discover a time capsule that your parent/parents had put together when you were one year old, what would you hope to find?
A photo album, memoirs, things like that.

LOL Well, I suppose if any where was to sell sanity, Sam's or Costco would be a good place for it because that's one thing parents need to buy by the case load.
If you see some Brussels, and Zingers could you get me some. It is making me nuts that I checked about 7 stores, and they all don't have them.
That's so weird. I'll have to make a point to look for them next time I go out.

What was the most thoughtful Random Act of Kindness that someone had done for you?
Before ds was born we did not have a lot of money, a co-worker dropped off 3 boxes of NWT, EUC osh kosh boy clothes/shoes sizes 0-3 months to 12-18 months. It got us thru his first year. Her cousin was a manager at one of the stores and had a son 18 month older than ds.

Reaching out to me when I was grieving an awful loss...
I like to look for ways to perform little acts when I can, paying tolls for cars behind me and all, but when someone took the time to just sit with me and grieve with me, that meant the world

That's so cool. We actually went there yesterday! And I told Ruben (my DH) about the traveling one you were going to. Sorry the prices were higher then what they had been. That's a bummer.
I picked up some pins too. About 6 of them. The prices were in the $4 and $5 range so it was too good a price not too.

Since we were talking about random acts of kindness yesterday, I thought I'd share what someone did for us today.
We were at a car wash, one of those $5 ones that you pay first and then stay in your car and drive through. Well, the attendant came up to us and collected the $5 and then we were sitting there waiting our turn, when he comes back to our window.
My DH put his window down and the guy hands him back his $5 and says, "Don't worry about it, this one's on me." Then he smiled and walked off.
It was kind of weird at first and my DH and I were just looking at each other like "huh??" :rotfl2:
But we ended up with a free car wash thanks to this guy.
It wasn't something major, but it was sure nice and it brightened our day. Now I told DH we needed to find a way to pay it forward and do something nice for someone else now. :goodvibes
Anyway, sorry for rambling, just thought I'd share.

Hmmm, the square dancing would be fun. And it would be cool to see some bull riding too.

Oh yes. Once in the second grade a kid in my class was selling some gum. I didn't have any money and I knew my mom wouldn't give me any for something like that, so I found a jar of quarters up in my step-dads closet.
I took a few of them to use to buy the gum, figuring they'd never know. Well, turns out those quarters were really old and worth more then just 25 cents!
When the dad of the kid who sold me the gum saw them, he took them from his kid and called my parents to ask them if they knew I was using them as payment.
Busted! I was in big trouble and grounded for two weeks. But I learned my lesson and was actually never grounded again. (well, I wasn't really an angel after that, especially in high school, ;) , but I never did anything that they felt I needed to be grounded for)

I think that it would be fun to square dance, line dance and listen to some country and western music. And since square dancing and line dancing are in the same category, I'd have some horse shoe tossing thrown in there for good measure. And, of course, it would all have to be done out under the stars and the big Texas sky!

Last Fall to not go on the band trip to New York which I ended up going on anyway to take the place of another chaperone that had had a stroke, so I guess I was meant to go on that trip. We had to get rid of our 2 dogs last year. The first dog, Kirby, was a Pug-Shizu mix who bit our daughter 2 times. :( The second dog Kelsey, a Basenji, went a week and a half later. She had never been alone and could not take it. She kept thinking that Kirby was locked in any room with the door closed. She would try to dig up the carpet and ended up cutting her paws up on the carpet tack stips. :( It was really rough...

Hmm, I'd have to say making the decision to move from MI to Vegas. We used to live in CA and my grandparents had wanted us to move out to MI for awhile.
We finally decided in '04 to give it a try. We were out there for 3 years when we'd had enough of the winters, and made the choice to move back west.
My grandparents are getting older and cannot travel, so when we left, it was with the knowledge that it could very well be the last time we saw them alive and well.

Well, I think we've established back in November that I really like praline pecans. :rotfl2:
But I also like almonds, walnuts (in small doses) and cashews (only once in a while). I prefer my almonds honey roasted or lightly salted. Walnuts work best in chocolate chip cookies and cashews scream to be covered in carmel & milk chocolate.

I love nuts! Cashews just plain. Peanuts, plain, covered in chocolate, raw, you name it. Almonds, plain or covered in chocolate. Pecans, in brownies. And I have just recently decided that I really like walnuts, plain or in baked goods. I like other nuts also but those four are my favorites.
One of my favorite memories as a child was to get Spanish Peanuts at the mall. Our local mall was the first one built in the Dallas area. Sadly, it's been torn down. But anyway, there was this bakery that oddly enough also had a selection of nuts and I always chose the Spanish Peanuts over baked goods to eat. They were served warm. Yum!

I love bread. I don't think I've met a bread I didn't like. We used to have Big Sky Bread Company by our old house. They made the most unusual combinations of nuts, fruits, cheeses. I loved them.

I have never seen someone stealing from a store and hope that I would contact a store employee should I see someone stealing. Just being honest..... I have taught my children that stealing is bad. This kind of situation is like the one's where would you stop to render aid, would you report abuse, etc. You know what you should do, what you would want yourself to do but until it actually happens, you really don't know what you would do.
mommaU4

If you had seen someone steal something from a store, what would you do?
I'm not sure. And the only reason I would hesitate to say anything is because I'd be worried they'd need some sort of statement from me and the person would know I was the one who said something.
I'd be worried about retaliation of some sort. That might sound silly, but especially around here, sometimes it's best not to get involved. That's a sad thing to say, I know, but it's just the truth. :sad2:
If it was something more hands off like calling in to report a crime that's different. I called the police once on the neighbors across the street from us in CA. The guy was mean and abusive to his elderly mother and I could hear him threatening and cursing at her all the way in my house! There was no way I was going to let that go.

BTW...has anyone tried for ADRs lately? Today is 180 out for me, and I called the CRO #s this morning...wanted to see what time it opened!...and I get a msg saying the # is not valid. :scared1:
(I know...I have to edit my ticker. We got better flights/rates for Fri instead of Sat. I get an extra day!)

Make your Advance Reservations for Disney restaurants by calling 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463) 180 days in advance. Disney's Central Reservation Office, or CRO (407-W-DISNEY), can also make your Advance Reservations.
Is that the number you called?
Almost time to make mine :hyper: Guess I better bet them figured out

Yep, those are the numbers I called. It still tells me the # is not valid. (10am) But I found a toll free one that works: 800-711-4344 which is a good # to keep.
BUT, I'm a :goofy: , cause even tho a CM told me I could book them on 4/17 for 10/17 when I added on a day, it's not really 180 days...I have to wait til Monday.
Thought I'd liven things up and try some new ones this trip. :goodvibes

I always use the toll free number ;) But was too lazy to go find it :teeth:
We always try to try some new places.....it is getting harder to find some.

I had an old toll free one, apparently I need to update my stuff once in awhile. It directed me to a new one....and that didn't work either. I was starting to think it was me! (The main # still says invalid for me... :goodvibes )

I just tried those two numbers and they worked for me. Weird:confused3
I can't make my ADR's till the beginning of June and I've already changed them on paper 6 times!! With 5 of us in the family it's tough finding something everyone will like. I think I have it down now. Maybe. :rotfl2:
The problem is everyone had their favorites from past trips and I get flak if I don't include some-one's favorite! Plus we went during free dining last year and now everyone is spoiled:rotfl: DH is the worst!! He used to be happy with chicken nuggets until he went to the Coral Reef:rolleyes1

If you could live closer to any other state, which would you pick?

If you were to throw a Disney party for a family or friend, who would it be for, and which one Disney character would you pick to bring in the birthday cake while singing happy birthday to the birthday person?
The party would be for my daughter, Carol, and the character would be Peter Pan. Even though she is happy that she is now 17 and can get in R rated movies  , she is still a little girl at heart that wants to never grow up.

That is a tough one also. I can't just pick one so I'll pick two, Florida and Colorado.

That is hard because I want to live closer to a few places. If maybe I could switch some things around ....(now remember I live the mouse in CA)...
***Put Utah in Nevada's spot...this is where my husband's family is and it would be nicer to have them a few hours closer than 12! (by car trip of course:rotfl:)
***Put Florida in AZ spot...you know just so that WDW is closer (just as HOT, not nearly the humidity)
Other than those 2 I can't think of any....:cool2:

I really would live closer to FL...and not just for WDW. Is that sacrilegeous?:goodvibes
Oh...and it really was me with the WDW phone # not working! I called the phone company last night. They figured it out today--they were having problems on their end--said they had another call just like mine from someone else in the area trying to call Disney!
Whew....thought maybe we'd been banned. :rotfl2:

Love it here in FL, so I would stay put. :goodvibes
However I do miss the good Amish style eating! :lmao: And I miss the Great Lakes. So someone could squeeze Lake Superior between FL and GA and that would make me happy. :rotfl:

There seems to be many types of fundraisers out there. My mom just purchased roasted chicken tickets, but they were selling pizza, and something else as well. So today's QOTD is-
What different type of things did you see being sold for fundraisers, and what was your top favorites, and which ones would you try to avoid?
