For the first time I'm going to be car-less at WDW. I'm trying to find the easiest yet somewhat economical way to get to and from the airport. I was going to use Mears, but I don't like the idea of waiting at the airport and then having to go through a bunch of other stops. A car service would be nice, but that's a bit spendy for one person. Is there any reason I can't take a taxi? It seems like this would be easy and yet cheaper than getting a car service? Anyone have any suggestions/advice for me? And if you've taken a taxi before, how much does it cost? Thanks in advance!

We have done both taxis and towncars, and a towncar is definitely cheaper (and more convenient). We used to do Mears back in our "unenlightened" days, but we quickly learned that there are better alternatives to waiting around for the van to fill and then visiting a bunch of other hotels along the way. Depending on the size of your party, a towncar or van is often cheaper too. We use Happy Limo, and be sure to ask for the coupon rate if you contact them for a price.

I've used Tiffany several times and have always been pleased with them. Simply put, Mears sucks.

BTW--the cab fare is about $40 from the airport to WDW. So take the car service, with the coupons most offer, it's actually cheaper. IF you have a Passporter there's an $8 coupon in the back for Tiffany.

For one person Mears is much cheaper. You have to decide if saving an hour or so each way is worth the extra money. Even with the coupons a car service/limo will cost you 75 + tip R/T. A cab will cost the same (or more). What you really need is a way to share a limo/car service with one or two other people.
