Wow, that's great that you got some of the secret porthole rooms!

There are 3 of us - me, DH, and DD. We wil be celebrating DD's 8th birthday and DH and my 15th anniversay. We are on Deck 7. Is this your first cruise? It will be for us.

We are going to WDW in November  . Have y'all been lately or are you going any time soon?

Where do you live? We are from Louisiana.

Are y'all going on any excursions? I don't think we are. The only ones I'm really interested in is the dolphin excursion or the stingray feeding excursion.

Look forward to talking planning and dreaming along with you!

We're just doing the cruise. We live fairly close to WDW, so we go at different times. I know these boards can become addicting! But it's so much fun!

Hi gang!

Being fiscally responsible (!), I've postposed our May 20 cruise to Sept. 2. Even now I'm not sure if we'll go because I'm now really focused on paying off my credit card and should be able to do it this summer! Yeah! The other thing I have to keep in mind is I've had a 7 night for Jan. 2008 booked for over a year, so that cruise takes presidence. (I can't believe I have 2 cruises booked!) :scared1:

The Sept. cruise would be with my mom who has never cruised, but loves Disney. I've been to WDW 17 times, but DCL only once. That cruise was Jan. 2006 Land/Sea. (Happy to answer any questions!)

A huge concern is cruising in Sept = Hurricane Season. How soon do I need to purchase the trip insurance. What if I cancel the cruise? I understand the captains are good about steering around bad weather, would be sad to miss CC, but am perfectly happy staying on the ship the entire time. Also worried about the stateroom. Last cruise we got upgraded for free to Cat 6, but will be we're stuck in Cat 9 this time. Will I feel like a trapped sardine? Before Disney my only cruise was on Carnival in 1995. THE WORST trip of my life! I ended up in the medical center getting 2 double-shots!

So far my mom doesn't know about this cruise and would love to make it a near-last-minute trip. I once took her on a suprise WDW trip and was able to keep it a secret until we were at baggage claim at MCO!

I guess that's enough for now. Look forward to hearing from everyone!:rolleyes1

We are on the 9/2 cruise. We booked while on a cruise last May. I am planning our land stay for prior to the cruise. I am really hoping for a discount on the hotel or for free dining. I haven't booked anything yet - We would like the Poly or GF.
:cool2: Our 9 year old DS already has all of his activities planned out. We can't wait!

Just wanted to "jump onboard" so to speak. ;) We just decided to do the 4 night Sept 2 Wonder cruise and then 4 nights at Wilderness Lodge. It will be me, DH, and DD 3 (her first cruise).

Angipoo, we just moved from Mandeville, LA to Hattiesburg. What part of LA are you in?

Looking forward to talking w/ everyone over the next 5 months until we cruise! :boat:

I thought this thread got started awhile ago, but glad to see someone has initiated it again.

This will be my 2nd cruise. First one was land/sea (Jan. 2006) to celebrate mine & best friend's doctorate degrees. We were upgraded from Cat 9/Deck 2 to Cat 6/Deck 6. (This is where I say we've been snookered by Disney AGAIN - introducing us to a more fab experience, so we'll want to spend the money on it next time!) Alas, I've booked the Cat 9.

This cruise is to make up for a HORRIBLE trip :scared1: to Hawaii in Jan. 2007.(Ask if you want details.) I'm planning to take my mom, as so far she doesn't know about it. I think our deposit is due June 10? Her birthday is June 16, so I thought this would be a good gift. I have concerns though....

She can't swim & has only been a pool once - Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club a couple of years ago. She's never cruised in her life, which is enough of a worry, but we're going smack in the middle of hurricane season. Thoughts?

Hope to hear more from everyone over the next couple of months.
Gayle

P.S. I've also got a 7 night Western (Cat 6) booked with Best Friend for Jan. 2008. (Can you tell I was immediately hooked?!)

I booked our timeshare and our WDW property stay, three nights at the Poly and a week at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club. We missed out on free dining by a few days - bummer.

But she likes to give the impression she has money. Sorry for the long description but i just got off the phone with her before i read your post and she p.m.off moaning about my husband should visit her blah blah blah and it's all my fault.;) well anyway happy cruising are you sailing sept.2nd?

You can PM me.:)

Sorry. We're only flying in the day prior and staying near the airport. We used to towncar to WDW. Since it's just the two of us (Mom), we're taking the Disney transfer bus. Mom loves the "Disney feel", so I think she'll be fine with it and watching the movie.

I spent most of high school & college traveling with the marching band on charter busses & they do one thing to me: put me right to sleep. Since I doubt I'll sleep much the night before from excitement, I can catch a nap on the way to the port! :)

*Still planning to surprise Mom with this on her b-day June 16. I'm wrapping the travel kit we already received. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Hey gang! I just about had a heart attack.

I paid the balance on Friday since our Castaway Club reservation window opening this morning.

I cmoe to work. Work. Get to lunch. Decide like usual to browse the boards. There's a post "Is Palo still $10?" I think of course it is.... my mind does one of those "life flashed before you" and I realize I completely forgot to login this morning and make the reservation!!!!

FAST Where's my reservation #? Get me logged into DCL!!! CLICK CLICK FASTER FASTER!!!!!

Huh. That's odd. Either our ship isn't very full (which I hoped by time of year and that SCAREY weather season) or there aren't many suite/Castaway Club people on it.

I pulled up the Palo listing. There were MANY dinner times available on EVERY DAY!

Crisis averted.

I can't see this being a problem. Reservations were available for 1-2 person tables only. Like I said all but one time slot was available. Unless your heart is set on a specific time, I can't see that being a problem. Plus, you can always add it the day you arrive. I read on the boards that only 20-30% of the reservations are made available online.

Just remember - at least we get to go! I'd eat a Pluto's every night if I had to!

Hey Gayle - we were in an 10 last year. DH is a little clausterphobic and he didn't have a bit of trouble. But it was just he and I and we didn't spend that much time in the room to notice how small it was. We also had inside staterooms so no windows for us. :)

Hi everybody! We're on this cruise, too! It will be me, my dh, and my 2 dds (7 and 4). This is our fourth cruise on Disney, but the first time in a cat. 9. We usually just get 10s, so we're excited to have a window this time (although we'd be thrilled to pieces to have a verandah, so here's hoping for an upgrade!) MY DM, DSis and I are going on all girl cruise. We booked at cat 6 today.
Got late dining but since we are leaving the kids at home it is not too big of a deal.
Besides a few days away from the husbands and kids and jobs, we are going on this cruise so we can become Castaway Cay members before our Aug '08 Repo cruise. With all of the experienced cruisers on that one we could not get anything without it. This at least puts us on a level playing field.

Welcome to 7.5 weeks out!

Well, I delayed buying my airfare longer than ever before. I was disappointed that there seemed to be no sales during the July 4th holiday. :confused3 (Yes, I am one of those people that will check every single days for weeks!)

So Sunday I gave in and purchased one-way tickets on 2 different airlines. This trip wasn't originally "planned", so I wanted to keep costs low. Begrudingly I booked IND-MCO direct on Southwest. I haven't flown SWA in nearly 7 years. I was never really excited about them, but the big thing was this: It means I was giving up SkyTeam (Delta, NWA, Continental) frequent flyer miles. :sad2: Miles are HUGE to me because they've allowed me two free trips to Hawaii & I'm now saving for Europe.

I booked our usual return flight direct on NWA. As you can imagine, I really wanted the round-trip on NWA.

Now I supposed I shouldn't really complain as both are direct and the total cost was only $178.80pp, but this the most I've paid to go to FL since 1998 (no joke). It's a decent price with current gas prices, but then I did what I always do... I checked the prices again yesterday. Yes, Tuesday. The day most of us know airfare goes on sale. No change in SWA, AirTran, etc. So I was feeling satisfied. :snooty:

Then last night... round-trip direct on NWA: $149! :scared1:  :sad2: Now I realize it's only $30 difference, but that could have paid for gas to the airport!!! Does $30 even impact me - not hardly. But my self-esteem of being a "travel guru" is now completly shot. :headache:

Since, I haven't flown SWA is such a long time, is there anything I should know? Suggestions? Do they still board by order of check-in? When you arrive at airport?

I've also got a car booked for us to zip over to the Beach Club for lunch and Downtown Disney shopping the night before the cruise.

Any others getting more things checked off your lists?
Thanks for letting me rant!
Gayle

P.S. The $149 rate is now gone, so it's probably a fluke that I even saw it in the first place. :surfweb:

Hello everyone! We just booked our first cruise two days ago for 9/2 on the Wonder. We are extremely excited. My DH planned the trip as a 25th wedding anniversary gift (our anniversary was in June). As well, my birthday is just two days before we set sail so can you say "party!"

We are both still shocked we are finally getting to take this cruise. It's been a dream of mine for a very long time. Having just been in WDW in mid-June, I'm still very much in the "Disney state of mind" making the excitement that much more!

We are flying in from Buffalo the night before. The flight we intended to take on Southwest the morning of the cruise is not available (they consider 9/2 to be a holiday and they cancel certain non-busy flights). My DH works at the airport here and has to work that Saturday until 1:00 pm so we have a very small window of opportunity to grab a flight. Hopefully, we'll book something in the next few days. Totally hoping SW has a "ding" available and then we'll grab that.

It's great to see so many other Dis'ers on the same cruise. If anyone has any tips to share, please do. Can't say I have ever wanted a summer to fly by so quickly as this one!!!!!! LOL!

Hey everyone. We're on the September 2nd cruise. I will be 17 when we sail and I am sailing with my parents and my aunt and uncle. This will be our fourth cruise, first for my aunt and uncle. We're from the Orlando area and my aunt and uncle are from Michigan. It's going to be an aweseome cruise. Can't wait. Mike

Hi all! Just wanted to chime in that we will be on the Wonder Sept. 2. My DH, myself and 3 ds's, age 7, almost 4 and 2 are traveling with my sister, BIL and her dd's, ages 9 and 13. Grandma and Grandpa are tagging along too!

We have booked two rooms at Comfort Suites for Atlantis access and plan to just hang on the beach at CC. My family will be following up the cruise with 3 days at the Poly with free dining.

40 days to go!!!:woohoo:

For example:

Also, do we want to do a meet on the cruise? I have read about that - just throwing that out.

HI angipoo,
I attempted to PM you, but it was rejected since this is my first post ever on the Disboards. I have been lurking for over a year and thought it would be nice to finally join the boards and be added to the list.

blessedbyfour- Me(31), DH(35), DD(14), DS(12), DD(Turning 5-her birthday is the day before we cruise), DS(3) and my DM and DMIL. All first time Disney cruisers.

We will also be attending the Pirates and Princess Party on the 31st. This was an unexpected surprise because we won tickets at a Radio Disney event at Bealls and this event also falls on the eve of my youngest daughter birthday. We are all so excited.

We look forward to cruising with everyone!!

I would like to meet because I would love for DD to know someone in the Kids Club and it would be nice to meet people from other areas of the country (or world). Meeting up on the first day is a great idea. That way we will know some people throughout all the activities.

I have to ask my friend again (I deleted it) where they always meet, but as for time I think it was around 3pm the day we board. That way most people would have had time to get aboard, eat and get in their rooms. The safety drill is at 4:00, so that would give us 30 - 45 minutes to meet. I will post a final date, time and place as soon as I can.

I went to Wally World today to get a mat to drop off and have signed....I found one that is esp made for signing...called Signature Event Mat...I had never noticed them before..it is 11x14 with a 5x7 opening but figured it would have more room for the characters to sign.

We are leaving today and I am going to make a stop at Walmart to see if I can find this. If anyone else has luck finding, please post!

Can any of you guys tell me who the cruise director was while you were on the Wonder? Leaving in 2 weeks, and wanting to get an idea of who we might have this time around.

Thanks.
