I sent mine in early and haven't heard anything one way or the other?

Some have heard back already and were accepted- others were denied already for either mistakes or that the 200 quota had been met already
others are still waiting- most who have heard nothing either in the game as a message there or through email- sent their entries in on Monday during the day- sometime after VMK opened and the early afternoon...
Good luck- I do hope you hear something soon

Did everyone else at least get a response one way or the other or is everyone else still waiting?

We're still waiting as well. Sent in regstration Monday afternoon. We talked to Hula (yesterday I think?) and she said to be patient and that all responses would be out in the next few days. People are still getting accepted so don't give up yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

Well at least we didn't get a no yet.
Too bad they don't sent out an email stating that they received the email and are reviewing the entry or something like that.

This is just getting annoying I entered around 11 am monday morning. (eastern time) I still have not heard back. I don't want my team to work on these rides and have it just turn into a lost cause. I would hate for it to be that way. I would also like to make sure that I did not mess up on the application. I would hate to be the reason for many people's disapointment.

Yes my team is still waiting is frustrating because everyone on my team has their rooms done as well and we really don't want to waste all those credits for nothing...

Skate, you would not be the reason for your team's disapointment! I am nervous about not hearing anything either and if we did not make the unreasonable 200 team cutoff considering how many people play this game it is not my teamleaders fault. (did registration begin at midnight, if so what time zone? or when VMK opened?)
As far as doing this all for nothing:
I think that we should do our own Dis Reject Competition for the teams that got rejected. We should all open our slides that weekend and make a thread with a poll and a list of teams and slide names and let everyone here vote.

I also heard someone say that people may have not heard because of the email address they used and that aol and yahoo do not receive emails from VMK.
For those of you accepted, what email did you get your response? I sent mine in with a yahoo email address and I have not heard yet.

WOOT!
The person I talked to had no idea who I was, but was more than willing to hear and try and help my team's situation that I put them in. They couldn't guarntee (sp?) that they could help, but they would surely pass along what I said, which was written down and sent to, "That department".
I got our response not long after and.. we're in!

Thank you VMK! This means alot to us and our team cannot express how excited we are to take part in what you have in store for us! It may not seem it at times, but it's getting better all the time!
If your nervous you've made a mistake in registering and have not gotten a response yet, some pretty easy detective work can get you in touch with officials that are MORE than happy to help you, and can also boost your confidence that the VMK branch of Disney truly does care about us simply being happy! :thumbsup2

Good thoughts then Ranch, We will get to tracking down where our response is. I think we have a person on our team with the right detective like skills in the area of VMK. Congratulations on getting in, apparently that in itself might be worthy of an award.

Well great! Congratulations and that is good news for me I am going to expect that if they want to disqualify my team for losing a member they will make an exception because after all, one person messing up shouldn't hurt everyone else right and once they start making exceptions everyone is going to want one my team included

We also heard that you can only use water ride pieces and will be disqualified if you use other ride pieces (river/everest) -- does anyone know if that is true? Really only staff knows the judging criteria, this was a rumor last time as well and I most sure that almost every team mixed it up a bit, including some of the winners. My personal opinion is the water ride pieces kind of stand apart and are best suited for this competition. At the risk of giving out helpful information I would think the staff will be thinking summer water ride = water ride pieces but very much doubt DQ for it and definitely if you are talented enough to pull it off - use whatever you want. Good luck!

Congratulations. You've shown you have an exceptional ability to have strings pulled. By this very action, VMK should allow *every team* that wants to be a part to take part. They have clearly shown that the rules the posted regarding the exactness of an entry do not matter.
Now that you are in, the sportsmanlike thing to do would be to offer to assist anyone who asked you with how do to go about the "detective work"
you so handily executed. Not everyone has the access that you do to the parks to facilitate such "detective work".

My (3rd) corrected application was in on time, so no "exceptions" were made for us.
Congratulations. You've shown you have an exceptional ability to have strings pulled.
Or the common sense to actually speak to a real person.
By this very action, VMK should allow *every team* that wants to be a part to take part.
Why? Because they confirmed recieving and accepted our (corrected) on time application?
They have clearly shown that the rules the posted regarding the exactness of an entry do not matter.
Because we're in the competition, and you were expecting us not to be? And you're wrong, because they denied our first application, which prompted me to take action on finding the status of our corrected application.
Now that you are in, the sportsmanlike thing to do would be to offer to assist anyone who asked you with how do to go about the "detective work"
you so handily executed. Not everyone has the access that you do to the parks to facilitate such "detective work".
Ok I lied, I said it was easy when in fact, it was a pain in the rump to finally reach a Disney official that actually knew what VMK was. And as you can tell from my first application, I'm not that bright.. so if I can do the work and find great results, so can other sportsmanlike people.
Daz said it best, just having the relief of knowing initiation is over is a prize in itself, but now.. I'D LOOOOOOVVVEEE to win after such flaming! :thumbsup2

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just be happy that another DIS member will be competing and showing off their hard work without sarcasm and/or bitterness?
His mistake was a simple typo, let's not act like committed some kind of registration fraud, lol. Anyone who's seen Tampa's team's rooms should know it wouldn't be a competition without them.

Actually, I am hardly bitter. The rules for entering clearly stated that only 1 entry per team was permitted. Not keep trying til you manage to get it correct. The registration fraud as you title it was that the additional attempts at registering were even considered. Was that same consideration given to any other team that tried to enter within the appropriate timeline?
That being said, instead of bragging about his ability to call someone and get in thru the back door, he should have said something along the lines of: If you want some help in getting thru the red tape, ask and I'll try to help you. It would be nice if instead of talking about detective work an honest offer of assistance was made to those teams that didn't necessarily have his contacts.
And actually with or without his team it would still be a competition.

The rules for entering clearly stated that only 1 entry per team was permitted.
Here are the rules:
- Each Pool Patrol is to consist of no less than 6 and no more than 20 members.
- The ride may not exceed 30 rooms in length.
- Players may only be on one Pool Patrol team.
- Each member of the Pool Patrol must contribute at least one room to the ride.
- The Lifeguard must be the owner of the Shallow End room, where the team's ride begins.
- The categories we will be judging on will be Best Use of Color, Most Creative, and Best Overall Ride experience.
- There will be 5 winners and 1 Grand Prize winner from each category, for a total of 18 winners.
You must choose a name for your Pool Patrol. Choose carefully, it must be allowable in VMK and must fit into the room name, preceded by Shallow End (example: Shallow End Dumbo). No "dictionary dances" are permitted in any Pool Patrol room names (example: Shallow End Dumbo To is not allowed).
Judging will take place between Friday August 4 and Sunday August 6. The way in which you will know if your team has been judge is that you will find a Blue HOST Judging flag in your Shallow End start room. This signifies that your team has been visited by staff and judged
While it is not necessary to keep your ride open to be judged, we hope you will be able to keep it open during the event weekend so other Players can enjoy what you and your team have created.
Begin planning your water adventure!
I'm having a hard time finding your rule, would you mind highlighting where it is? Maybe your cofusing the "Be on 1 team only" rule? :confused3

Right lol? Am I the envy of all the kingdom yet? I'm not you, so what I say is probably going to be different then what you would, or from what you would agree with apparently.
And actually with or without his team it would still be a competition.

I must concur with aeryn, especially on the part where Tampa fails to offer help to his fellow DIS members. Instead in his previous posts, he boasts about clout, having contact with a Disney Exec and being conceited about how groundbreaking his entry will be. This is not the way of DIS and this is exactly why several people have told me Tampa is not very nice. Now I see that for myself.
it wouldn't be a competition without them.
It would be nicer if fellow DIS members didn't feel a need to brownnose so much :thumbsup2 And it's arrogant to say it wouldn't be a competition without them, that is a lack of respect for the endeavors of every DIS team to disregard us like that. So much for your united DIS position.

Very well said and I agree on all levels. It doesn't matter how you slice it, an exception was made. This is made clear with the involvement of a contact number, kudos Tampa for socially engineering your way to successful acceptance into the competition. Though unfortunately your team is now tainted with the wind of an exception made.

I realize from your posts and the fact that you pointed out, that you may not always understand some words. And I am not being mean here at all  . When I say "exception," I mean "something that does not fit into a general rule, pattern, or judgment." In the sense that speaking a live person to get your entry accepted is not the standard way and is therefore an exception to the rule.
When I say "concession" I mean "something, e.g. a privilege, right, or kindness, that is granted to a person or group, usually in view of special circumstances". You were rejected because of an error and therefore spoke with someone who took that into consideration and decided to accept your entry. This is therefore a special concession ;)
Not everyone will get special exceptions made even if they are in a more dire situation then you. It's wrong of Disney to make an exception for one and not for all. It also sours other DIS who entered before you and did it 100% correctly and yet were rejected due to being above 200 teams. You were possibly included at the expense of someone who followed the rules, did everything right and followed the general rules through email. You went above to make your calls and plead your case and thus had a advantage over others.
Me personally? I will take the decline in stride, support my DIS teams and help friends stay on the rooms list. I wont bother execs or beg or try to act better than other people. No award is worth all that! :cheer2:

Thanks Daz; As a member of the entry in question I find it totally wrong of the DIS members that are turning this into something personal. I have had contact with VMK producers via telephone about some different, but important concerns in the game. It is not easy finding the right person to talk with and who knows how to help your situation.
I respect you TAMPA for going the extra mile for your team. You accidentally hit a " ; " key by mistake when entering. And this is what the DIS has to say about it? Come on folks get over it, a simple mistake was made. All the correct rules were followed. So whats the big deal?
I really enjoy reading most of the posts on this site and have contributed to some. (yes even off the VMK threads) The people here are some of the best I have seen and this should not be an issue.
Thanks

In the sense that speaking a live person to get your entry accepted is not the standard way and is therefore an exception to the rule.
But you are selecting what you want to read. If you would (please) read what I type, you'd see that I said the person didn't say they could get any action for me, but could simply say I called. Which worked wonders
When I say "concession" I mean "something, e.g. a privilege, right, or kindness, that is granted to a person or group, usually in view of special circumstances". You were rejected because of an error and therefore spoke with someone who took that into consideration and decided to accept your entry. This is therefore a special concession
You make it sound like if you were to call and say, "Hey, what's up with our application" they'd tell you to take a hike! I still don't see how making a phone call for inquiry can constitute as "concesssion". Are you saying I'm the only one who knows how to pick up a phone? If that's the case, I guess I am exceptional!
Not everyone will get special exceptions made even if they are in a more dire situation then you. It's wrong of Disney to make an exception for one and not for all. LOL.. and this is my fault how? Too funny! And through this whole drama, I can admit, the LAST thing I was worried about was the roster being full.
Me personally? I will take the decline in stride, support my DIS teams and help friends stay on the rooms list. I wont bother execs or beg or try to act better than other people. No award is worth all that!
But looking to reedem yourself for your friends in a sense of pride is worth everything. Try it! And I didn't beg, I don't remember saying that.

Thanks Daz! I'm a member of as many fan boards as I can be and as much drama as being experienced now, this paticular fan site is one of my favorites! Alot of people here have shocked me in how nice they can be! My first experience was when I was looking for a Haunted Mansion Room for -VHM- and to my surprise, I get a pm for our own GameBot.. a pm with nothing more than a code. He truly set the pace for me and what I think of these boards. :thumbsup2

I dont really want to get involved with the arguement, but I felt compelled to say a few things.
Ranch, anything that is outside of the norm, such as calling the company, emailing the executives, or hunting down the staff, is getting an exception. Everyone does not have access to the means of reaching VMK outside of the Contact Us button, especially teams run by kids. That makes it unfair.
Second, Ranch, you obviously think highly of yourself if you actually asked the person on the phone if they had heard of you. Are you kidding yourself? What a self-important thing to say. I know you are talented. I have seen your rooms and tried your quests. However, I do not necessarily think you are into VMK because of the Disney Magic or the happiness it brings to people, but that is just my opinion.
It is great that you were able to get in with your team, but I also understand why some people see it has a backhanded way of accomplishing it. I do think that everyone is ganging up on you, but I am sure you would be ganging up on someone else if they had the secret to something you.
Please help each other out DIS people!!! I do not want this to become just another board. There are so many of you that create magic. Please do not let a few people ruin it for the rest of us. :)
