Well, today is Tuesday, July 11th. A great day to get back on track with my eating and excersizing! So, here is my July New Years Resolutions~~
1) Drink water. Lots and lots of water. At least 60 oz a day.
2) No cokes, pepsi's, or other caffinated products.
3) Eat healthier. Salads, veggies, fruits. Lay off the sweets.
4) NO JUNK FOOD!! McDonalds, BK, Taco Hell, (not that I even like these places, it's just a quick, and easy lunch!)
5) Plan better meals for the family. Real Meals, not frozen crap...meals w/ veggies, AND MAKE THEM EAT THEM!!
6) Get entire family involved in being healthy. Exercise, eating right, no junk food!
7) 3-5 mile walks at least 4 times a week....REGARDLESS OF WHATEVER ELSE IS GOING ON!! kids will be going on bike rides, and walking the dog.
8) Work my way up to running again. Sign up for a 5K (or 2).
9) No more fads. No more thinking about Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, LA Weightloss, Hypnotizing, Ear Stapling, Diet Pills, or anything else that is supposed to work. I will make myself work for this. I will make myself lose this weight, and keep it off, ON MY OWN!
10) Discuss w/ DH about joining a gym, with real weights, aerobic classes, pool, and sauna. Obviously, I'm not disciplined enough to do it at home. I need to look into someplace the whole family can go and get something out of.
11) Journal, Journal, Journal. Keep track of what I'm eating, how much i'm working out, weight, measurements, THE WORKS. ACCOUNTABILITY ON THE WISH!!
If none of the above work, check into liposuction!!
I'm going to do this. No if's, and's, or buts about it. No Mulligans. No do overs. No taking a break because of TOM, Birthdays, Holidays, Bad Days or anything else. This is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE AND IT STARTS NOW!!!
yes, i took my pill today...i don't think it's kicked in yet.
WISH me luck...this is it. i'm in for the long haul this time!
Thanks!
Marie

Marie - good luck with your journey. It helps to have the whole family involved.
I like your resolutions. Keep a positive attitude and you will succeed. Take it one day at a time and start over as many times as necessary. You might want to start with baby steps and develop good habits in one area before proceeding.
I am at about the same place as you. I have problems with motivation and continuing on with new habits.
Have a greeat healthy day.

Yay on the new journal! Those are awesome goals, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! :cheer2:
Remember if you are running short on time, Subway is an excellent choice and there are lots of healthy options there.
I love how your definition of "lots of water" is 60oz! :teeth:
You are going to do it this time, we are all here with you! I expect to see some measurements posted within the next few days. Can't wait to see those shrinking numbers!

Yesterday ~ (i like that little squiggle thing)
b-1 sm bowl Special K w/ Red Berries (if that's what you call those dehydrated, little red specks in there!)
l- cheeseburger on wheat - brought from home-made on the grill
d-1 piece Boboli pizza
s-8 oz chocolate milkshake..... :confused3 (where'd that come from?)
water-64 oz
exercise-3 mile power walk~didn't time it, but it was hot, and felt GREAT!
ok, so i'm not off to a great start on my resolutions, but i did stay away from the candy drawer at work!!
the milkshake was the last desert for the family. they (kids)are not happy about this healthy living kick i'm on, but they'll get over it! they are the little debbie snack food junkies of the universe!! (just ask them, they'll tell you!!)
i had a heart to heart talk w/ ds(10) last night. he has really gained alot of weight this summer. instead of losing it, he's gaining it....he's also sneaking food in his room.....eating between meals....not getting outside enough.....(god, i'm a horrible mother!!) anyway, he wants to sign up for Karate, so I told him that we would sign up when he could learn discipline...no sneaking food, exercising, the works! we'll see. he did do a 3 mile bike ride while dh and i did our walk, but it was a slow ride....then he and i did 15 situps when we got home. i told him we were going to be doing this EVERY NIGHT!!!
oh, i also have ds walk the dog (gunner) every morning. this morning he only did 1/2 a block and he was sweating!! i told him to suck it up!!
i'm gonna make some phone calls today about joining a gym. there is a YMCA that I want to check out. It's new and about 20 minutes from us....dh said it's pertty nice. (ok..that's pretty nice...forgive my southern accent!!! :rotfl2: ) i'll let you know what i find out.
later!

Hi Marie,

Have a great day! :sunny:

That's great that you are checking out the YMCA. They are good for the whole family. Sorry to hear about DS's weight problems. My DS has the opposite problem - too skinny. :confused3 He definitely doesn't get THAT from me! You are doing the right thing by having him focus on getting more exercise. I think karate would be great! :thumbsup2 It teaches discipline as well, that might help him in school next year. I think the only way you can nip this problem in the booty is to get rid of all the junk food in your house. That way if he sneaks food at least it will be healthy! And yes, the kids will complain, but let them know they can still have treats every now and then like when you go out for ice cream or b-day parties, etc...
Don't worry about not getting ALL of your resolutions mastered right away. Maybe focus on a couple at a time and when those become habit, tackle a couple more. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! :cheer2:

Hey Marie. Just some thoughts on joining the Y. Here they have a junior program...I dont remember what its called, anyway my son did it when he was 10 or 11, they takes the kids thru and train them on the equipment (not all of it, just certain pieces) and then once they are trained they are allowed to work out in the gym (normally , the age is 14) Anyway, they also have this great computer system hooked up to the machine that tells you your program, how many reps and what weight etc, and if you are doing it right. It logs in the system how many pounds you have lifted per week, month etc. You can also log all your cardio stuff and keep track of it, and a trainer will keep tabs on you and send you little email-type messges on the computer (the Y one that you log onto). I am quite sure none of this makes sense to you if you havent been to the Y yet, but anyway, its a very good system. Make sure you sign up for a training session tho and have them set you up on all the machines.
Ps...ref DS...probably getting ready for a growth spurt.

Marie, I love your new thread! What great resolutions you have made too. As determined and tenactious as you are, there is no doubt in my mind that you will suceed now that you have put your mind to it! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I also get major complaints from the kiddo's with the no junk in the house, but they do get over it! And if they are really hungry, there are healthy choices for them to eat. My problem (aside from the fact that I end up eating the junk :rotfl2: ), is that DD's are all really skinny and must have the tiniest tummies. They will fill up on junk and not be hungry for real food.
I really like your plan of having DS show some discipline and having Karate be the reward. Have fun checking out the Y too.

:goodvibes Hey there, Hi there, Ho there!! :goodvibes
We are going to check out the Y tonight! :woohoo:
I talked to my friend that lives in that area and she said it is busy....ALL THE TIME!! She wants me to check out the club that she goes too....I'll talk to dh and see what he thinks. The only thing that bothers me is that it's about 30 minutes away...with it being that far, will we use it? I know I WANT to use it, but w/ gas so high.....(hey, look....i'm making excuses and we haven't even checked it out yet!!)
ok, so yesterday was ok...
b-sm bowl cap'n crunch (my favorite)
l-salad from Olive Garden w/ 1 breadstick & swt tea
d-1 hot dog
s-none
water-32 oz :guilty: swt tea 400 gallons :rolleyes1
exercise-3 mile power walk~ (95 degrees out~heat index made it about 110!)
resisted- candy drawer, dibs, more breadsticks
goal for today - WATER WATER WATER!!
Thanks guys for sticking w/ me on my new thread...I appreciate the encouragement!!
oh, I sent sis#1 the link to my thread yesterday....maybe we can get her to join.... :teeth:
oh, one more thing....Gunner is doing great!!http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h295/kmp1191/Pierce118.jpg

Is this the sister that is going to kill you because you posted her weight?!? :lmao:
Are there any gyms that are closer to you? I've read (and I firmly believe) that if the gym is too far away you will make excuses not to go. Mine is 3 miles away and I have a problem with that sometimes! :rolleyes1 But if you make it a routine (like take the kids as soon as you get home from work on MWF or something) then hopefully it will be OK. I bet you will love it, you will have to let us know!
STEP AWAY FROM THE SWEET TEA!!!!!!!!! That HAS to be bad for you! Why not get regular tea and put Splenda in it? I know it's not the same, but you will just have to get used to it. Or else. ::cop:

Do you make the sweet tea or is it bottled? I am assuming you wont drink spenda stuff and just like the sugar. Heres a trick to look at tho, just check the suger grams in one glass (can , bottle what ever) Compare it to the sugar grams in something you really really like (whoppers?) Compare how many treats= per glass sweet tea. You can do a reward and switch system, treats for tea (always less sugar in the trade of course) until youve weaned yourself off the "stuff"

if we make it ourself, it's decaffinated....but most of the time it's from a resturant.....loaded w/ sugar!! :thumbsup2

How was the Y? If it is too crowded, it is a pain because you can't ever get onto the equipment you want. Also, unless you have a plan like Amy said, 30 minutes is a long ways to go to work out. Maybe look again at the gym's closer to you or close to work. Then you can go before or after work or even at lunch time.
So don't know exactly what sweet tea is, but at 78 m&m's I can take a guess  . How 'bout ordering regular tea and adding your own amount of sugar? That way you can be in control of how much sugar goes in and slowly cut back. Or maybe cold turkey is the only way to go!
Other options for drinking water - have sliced lemons/limes to add to your water glass. Try club soda w/ just a splash of OJ or other juice to add flavor. Just throwin' options out. Of course, there is always my drink of choice - milk :rotfl2: !

no, we didn't go to the Y last night. dd was at a b-day party yesterday and didn't get home til after 7...plus, we talked about it some more and were honest with ourselves....we aren't disciplined enough to drive 30 minutes to workout. i'm going to check out the 2 that are closer to the house. they will probably be a little higher $$..but we'll see. i told dh that i'm willing to clean out the garage and set up a gym out there. treadmill, sit-up bench, weights.
ok....starting out pretty good this morning...no sweet tea!! don't want to kill anyone yet either..... :woohoo:

Ok, so I'm finally caught up w/ what has been going on w/ you lately! Whew!
All I have to say about Kim's challenge is she's Definitely a Yankee! ;) (no offense Kim :hippie: ) They just don't understand us southerner's and our sweet tea! I am bad because I don't even log mine when I drink it. :rolleyes1 I have been considering trying to switch to some sort of green tea, but I'm just not sure. :cheer2: WAY to GO Marie for accepting the challenge! :cheer2: I know you can do it! I bet you will really see a difference if you drink as much as you indicate that you do. I am guilty of sweet tea guzzling myself. :guilty: You guys are really motivating me today! I am considering joining you for the week in a slightly modified way. I only drink tea at meals and sodas only occasionally when we eat out. But I could cut that out, maybe. I will think it over and probably do One Week with my only allowable liquids being water and milk (can't live w/out my milk ;) )
My advice about the gym is that you Definitely need to make sure it is close and convenient! Ours is only about 2 miles from the house, but even that can seem like too far some days. Just an extra 10 minutes each way can be a barrier when you are crunched for time. It is awesome to have the gym though! On those 100 degree days it is WAY better! Good luck on finding one for your family! :wizard:
I think you are doing a great job w/ you new Resolutions by the way! :cheer2: Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

good morning!! :sunny:
Well, day 3 and so far so good!!
Had to shoot a wedding last night.....outside wedding....99 degrees in the shade!! (do we have a melting smilie??) I was soaked by the time I was done!! The heat really wasn't the problem....the 22 member wedding party and me with no assistant was the problem!!! The bride and groom were wonderful, and everyone was really easy going...it's just hard for one person to coordinate that many people. OH...they had these BIG OL' glasses of sweet & unsweet tea at the reception....one of the servers asked me if I wanted one, and i said NO THANK YOU, WATER ONLY PLEASE!!!! ( :p KIM)
man, as hot and sweaty as I was, the tea would have been WONDERFUL, but i resisted!! :thumbsup2 I didn't get in as much water as I needed too, but I will get into the groove of that soon....maybe today!! I need to go buy a couple of cases of bottled water..one for home, and one for work.
I told the kids I would take them to the zoo today, but #1) its 103 at 11am, 2)they really don't seem to interested, and 3) my legs & back are killing me.
You would think that with all the walking that dh and I do, that I would be in better condition for these wedding shoots. I guess its the constant up and down, bending & squating that is doing a number on my thighs.....but then again, with all the bending & squating, you'd think my thighs would be more toned....hhhhmmmmm...
ok anyway, I don't know what all I ate yesterday, so i'm not going to log it.
water-approx 50 oz
exercise-housecleaning for 5 hrs, outside wedding shoot for 3 hrs....i'll count the 3 hrs, because it was NON-STOP!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
i'm sure there was something else that i was gonna tell ya'll, but i really don't remember now.

Way to go resisting the sweet tea! See, you didn't drink it and you lived to tell about it!!! :cool1:
Walking is great exercise, but to get a total body workout, you really should incorporate some weights and other strength training. I bet you wouldn't get so beat up from the photo shoots that way. What happened to Bob? You haven't been hanging out with him lately. I finally got that DVD, but have not used it yet... :rolleyes1

To hell w/ Bob.....just bring on SVEN!!! :teeth:
MONDAY WEIGH DAY!!!! 157 !!!! down 2 lbs!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
I don't know if my sisters are still doing it or not....if they call, i'll let you know!
I'm pumped now!!! Actually, the first time I stepped on the scale this morning, it said 154. I knew better than that...(no, it's not digital, it's old fashioned!) Anyway, I stepped off.....re-set it and did it again. Heck, I'm happy w/ a 2 lb loss!!!
Last night dh and I did a 2 1/2 mile walk....wasn't as fast as it usually is...my thighs were still very tight! Anyway, after the walk, we did some weights in the garage. I did a bunch of arm exercises. ( I HATE my arms!) He's going to start helping me do squats after our walks.....should help me w/ the photo shoots and the thigh issues! if nothing else, it might even tone up my legs.....hmmmm....now there's a concept!!
still no sweet tea!!! :dance3:
Have a great day all!!!

I am also super impressed that you passed on the sweet tea at the wedding when it was offered - WTG with the super willpower :woohoo: !
It definitely helps to have a case of water easily available. I keep one in the back of the car so I can grab a bottle whenever.

See, you lost 2lbs after giving up sweet tea. I wonder if there's a connection... :scratchin
Squats and lunges are awesome for your legs. I HATE them, but they work. Add some weights to make it extra painful, I mean effective...

Well, this has happened in both of our bathrooms, and in the garage!! Anyway, he's gonna give us a quote to scrape them smooth and repaint them. (he's a painter)
i also have to go get estimates for carpeting the bedrooms!! dang....where'd my money tree go??!! :confused3

No, no green tea yet....I'll stop and get some in the morning. Haven't been doing tooooo terribly bad, but not that great either.
Bad day today....attitude...eating....exercise....you name it, it sucked!!
Got into it w/ the boss first thing this morning....she jumped my butt, and I jumped back! I don't back down very easily, especially when it's not something that I was responsible for. DH is at a ballgame tonight, and a friend of mine came over...we went to Sonic for dinner...no sweet tea, but I did have a half of a Brownie Bite Blizzard.... :cloud9: ....and since dh isn't home and I have company, no exercise. :guilty: I feel like crap. I wish I could go running right now, but it's dark and I don't go out alone after dark.
Anyway, the rest of the week is gonna be pretty much shot as well. I have a friend coming in from out of town tomorrow and Thursday. I also have a photo shoot on Thursday night. I don't know what's on the agenda for Friday yet. I hate to throw this out there, because I know how I am, but I am going to TRY to get up early and go walking in the morning. I know how cranky I am in the mornings..but I will TRY.
Ok...got alot on my mind tonight, so I"m going to go sit and relax for a few minutes.
oh....

Why is the rest of the week shot? You can plan some healthy food for your friend's visit and take something healthy to snack on during your photo shoot. And you CAN get up early to get your walk in! Maybe that will get you out of your morning grumpies...
Great job resisting the sweet tea, pretty soon you won't even miss it anymore. And I'm sure your dentist will be thanking you too...

yesterday ~
b-1/2 english muffin
l-2 pieces rip n dip bread
d- 1/2 slap baby back ribs/cinnamon apples/1 big beer (we went to Smokey Bones for dinner w/ our friend from out of town)
water- 64+ oz
exercise-none....not to mention the fact that it was 104 degrees!!
I have 2 oranges sitting on my desk, and a case of water under it.....why can't i get into the groove of eating healthy? am i that pathetic? :confused3
don't answer that!
Anyway, I have a photo shoot tonight and then I'm gonna visit w/ my friend for a little bit...so, no exercise again tonight....oh, and sorry...I am just NOT a morning person....can't do it....tried...failed. :guilty:
So, today my goal is~
1)64 oz water
2)eat both oranges
3)don't kill anyone~came close yesterday~

kimwim?? Since when have you been so formal? :confused3 You just keep on going with the NO SWEET TEA and you'll be glad you did!!! You're doing AWESOME already!! It's almost been a whole week!!
Do the best you can with the food/fruit/water. Keep a cold bottle of water on your desk or near you at home at all times. Then you'll be more prone to sipping constantly. I know about the fruit. Especially oranges. To me, they are work to actually get to the point of eating them. Try grapes or something more portable. That might help.

You are doing great with your sweet tea challenge :cheer2:  :cheer2:
My new favorite afternoon fruit snack is blueberries from the freezer. Fresh blueberries that I put in the freezer, not blueberries from the frozen section of the store. Does that make sense :confused3 ? It is cool on a hot day, and not messy or sqishy. Grapes work too, but I haven't tried that.
Keep the water with you always and you'll naturally sip it. Order water (with a slice of lemon if you want) and it will always be refilled.
:Pinkbounc Just remember how great it was to see the scale go down last week. Use that when you want to over indulge with something.

b-1 orange
l-tuckey sandwich on wheat w/ pepperjack cheese
d-2 malibu rum & cokes ( :cloud9: ) and 3 nachos
water-64 oz
exercise-none
had a no brainer photo shoot last night....didn't exert any energy on it... :confused3 , then went and picked up my friend from IN and went for a drink (or 2) and a bite to eat!! I LOVE Parrot Bay Coconut Rum!! (although the place only had Malibu), anyway, 12 oz glass filled w/ ice and rum, and just enough coke for color....YUMMMMMMMMM!!! The first glass he brought me was 99.5% rum!!! It was soooo goood!!!! Anyway, I didn't overindulge on the food or drink, so I think it was ok!

I have been hanging in there w/ you on the sweet tea, but I couldn't resist the beer this week :rolleyes1 That's not on your challenge, but I had said nothing but water or milk for me. I have pretty much given up coffee during the week, but I sure wanted some this morning! It goes along w/ the sweet tea thing because I put Way to much sugar in my coffee.

So yesterday was MY KIND OF DAY!! I did the stuff that I needed to do, and wanted to do!! No, it wasn't laying by the pool, or going shopping. I got up, ate b-fast, did the morning routine, (teeth, face, clipped the hair) and went outside and trimmed the bushes out front, clipped the roses back, weeded the front flower beds, and turned up the mulch!! :cloud9: Man, you want to talk about RELAXING!!! I love doing that kind of stuff!!! What was even cooler about it...I brought Gunner (dog) out there with me and he just laid in the grass. I didn't even have to hold his leash or tie him up...he was just content to lie there and watch me! :cloud9: After that, I came in, TOTALLY cleaned DD's room, and then I started on the attic! I started bringing boxes of clothes down, if it was fall clothes, or clothes for DD for next year, then I put them in one area, if it was garage sale clothes, I priced them, folded them and put them in a box. ok...you have to understand..my daughter is the youngest of 5 girls. My sisters send me the hand me downs....2 or three boxes at a time!!! IT"S GREAT!!! I really only have to buy DD socks, shoes, and panties!!! Some of the stuff they send still has the tags on them!!! Anyway, I went and got some of those Space Bags (suck the air out and they flatten out) (pretty frickin cool!!! :smooth: ) and, SO FAR, I've filled up 4 large bags, (dd clothes)and one Jumbo (several blankets)
and 6 big boxes of garage sale clothes!! AND I'M NOT DONE!!! I'll start up again here in a few minutes when DH & the kids get up. Ya know.....I love getting stuff organized! I'm going to order some more of those bags on e-bay today....they are pretty cool!! Might just give them as Christmas gifts this year!!! :lmao:
(my dog needs hands right now...he's trying to reach his rope bone and can't.....of course he's on his back rolling around...d@mn dog)
so!
b-sm bowl frosted flakes
l-orange
d-cheeseburger on the grill w/ 5 fries
water-60 oz (pretty good for me on a weekend!)
1/2 margurita...little too strong.
exercise-no running, but 442 trips up and down the steps
I'm going to go get out of my pj's and take the dog for a walk, then when dh gets up, we're going to start running...TODAY!!!
(DON'T YA LOVE IT WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN A GOOD MOOD!!! :sunny: )
have a great day!!

ok....so it took me all day Saturday & Sunday to go through ALL the boxes and bags of clothes!!! I priced, folded and boxed ALL the clothes!!!
15 BOXES OF CLOTHES!!! :faint: 10 OF THEM ARE MY DD!!!
I couldn't believe it!! They are stacked up along the wall in my bedroom!! It's riduculous!! Of course, now I have to get all the other stuff cleaned out!! It's gonna take me about 2 weeks to get this all ready!! I have a BUNCH OF CRAP!!
So, that made for a really good weekend for me!! Also, didn't do TOO terribly bad on the food....
b-sm bowl frosted flakes
l-2 buffalo chicken strips w/ honey mustard
d-1 buffalo chicken strip.....actually 3 bites of it....
water-40 oz, 20 oz Mountain Dew Orange (sugar overload!!! )
exercise-walked 1 mile, ran 1 block. :guilty: Up & down the stairs, hauling boxes & bags 40 hrs.
DH & I got up this morning and did 2 miles. He ran 1/2 mile, I ran 2 blocks. My back was hurting. My back ALWAYS hurts in the morning, but I still did some. I also did about 10 sit ups....trying to stretch out my back. We are going to do the 3 mile course tonight...walking & runnning.

Are there any stretches/exercises that will help your back not hurt in the mornings?
No, probably not.....what would help is a cat that doesn't take up half the bed, and a 6yr old that stays in her own bed, all night, every night!! Either DH or I have to get up and carry her back to her own bed at least 3 times a week....and she's 60 lbs!!
I did do a bunch of stretches before we left this morning, and I think it helped. We are going to do most of our running in the evening.....dh is off today, so we figured we'd get a jump on the day. Next time, I'll let him jump by himself!! :rolleyes1

Ok...I bought some clothes back in April.....$198.00 worth of clothes. I decided to take a pair of shoes & a skirt back. I went in there last week, with no receipt, and the kid behind the counter tells me w/out the reciept, he can only give me the sale price. I said, well, let me find my reciept. So, this morning, I did out my reciept and on my lunch hour I go back. The woman behind the counter says, the reciept is over 90 days old, I can only give you the sale price. I looked at her and said, "You've got to be kidding". She says no. I said, can I talk to a manager please. So she calls some other chick up there who says the same thing. I said fine, give me the sale price in cash back. She says, "we can't do that, we can only give you an in store credit...to be spent today." I looked at her and said FINE, JUST GIVE ME THE D@MN THING SO I CAN BE DONE HERE!" THEN she tells me I have to use it in the same departments that the items had been purchased from. I looked at her and said, EXCUSE ME??? she repeated it, and I said, "What kind of crap is that? I don't want any shoes or clothes from this store." She smirks and says, "That's all I can do". (right about then, I wanted to reach across and slap her...hard!!!) :furious: I said, "Well, find me someone that has more authority than you, because you're not much help at all!" So she calls on her little walkie talkie to someone else. After about 5 minutes, this little blonde comes up to the desk..."Can I help you" says Stripper Barbie (get the visual?)
The other chick tells her what's going on and then I tell her that their policy is crap. She looks at me and says, "We don't need to use that kind of language." I said "Fine, your policy is BULLSH!T!! Is that better!?" (yes, i was trying to get kicked out of the store!!) She explains the policy to me again and this was the straw. I looked at Stripper Barbie and the other chick and said, "I UNDERSTAND YOUR CRAPPY POLICY, AND YES, I THINK IT'S CRAP. I WAS TOLD LAST WEEK THAT IF I HAD MY RECIEPT, I WOULD GET THE FULL REFUND. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY RECIEPT IS OVER 90 DAYS OLD, AND I WILL TAKE THE SALE PRICE AS MY REFUND, BUT I WILL NOT SHOP WHERE YOU TELL ME TO. I DO NOT NEED ANYTHING FROM THOSE DEPARTMENTS. I AM GOING TO GO GET A PAIR OF ROLLER BLADES FOR MY DAUGHTER, I AM GOING TO BRING THEM BACK UP HERE, YOU ARE GOING TO REFUND ME THE DIFFERENCE OF THESE ITEMS AND I WILL PAY YOU THE DIFFERENCE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?? IF YOU DON'T, GO AHEAD AND CALL THE POLICE BECAUSE IF YOU THINK I'M MAD NOW....JUST WAIT!"
I went and got the skates, came back up to the front, paid the difference and left. They never said a word to me.
I'm not normally this way. I know these places have their policies and I respect that. My reciept was 93 days old....3 days!!! The attitude that these chicks had is what made me so mad!! The smirks, the fake smiles...I really just wanted to punch them!! :furious:
ok...vent over....no need to reply....just unloading my frustrations!!

I think your DS would have been beaten to a pulp every day if you would have named him Otis Spunkmeyer. Kids are cruel (and you would be a cruel mom if you did that to the poor thing!)

haricolor is about the same....just no dark roots!! the box said it was Coconut w/ Ash Blond highlits. (basically, brownish/blondish) next time i'm going back to auburn. dh likes that.....
ok....so this weekend so far has been GREAT!! everyone we've met is AWESOME!! We actually had a date last night!!! just the 2 of us!!! we went to this resturant called the Cajun Steamer....OMG!!! it was SSSOOOOOOO good!!! (the place is actually a bar type atmosphere) we had stuffed shrimp appetizer and for dinner I did something I've NEVER done before....I order something I've never had....never tasted!!!! How scary is that??!! I order grilled Talipia w/ a Creole sauce....YYYUUUUMMMMMM!!! I've never had any kind of fish before besides fried catfish or fishsticks or shrimp!!! DH looked at me and said, "are you really gonna order that??" I said yes...I see people on the DIS all the time eating stuff like this!! Next time i'm going for the Salmon!!!
Ok, so we're on our way back to sis's, gonna do DD b-day thing tonight (and again next weekend!!). I'm really ready for a nap, but oh well!!!
Tomorrow we are going jetskiing, (unless it's raining like it is now!)
OH, and I did about 2 hours of physical labor earlier today, so I'm not running tonight!! Sorry Kim!!!

Sounds like you are having fun! I'm glad that you are branching out and trying new things. I love tilapia and salmon.
Great job resisting the sweet tea. Is it getting easier for you?
No, not really!! I LOVE a tall glass of sweet tea with a meal....to me, it's the desert!! :cloud9:
Actually, it is getting easier....I'm learning that I can control my craving, and fill up on water instead. After this 30 days, I really believe that I can limit my sweet tea to with just a meal or two during the day. I HOPE!!
Well, today we went to the mall, spent a billion dollars on DS. Jeans, shorts, shirts...back to school stuff. Then we went back to sis's house, ate lunch....relaxed and around 2 o'clock decided to go jetsking!! I'm glad we did....it was a blast!!! It was REALLY overcast and actually rained for about 20 minutes, but after that....WOOOOHHHOOOOOO!!!! Everyone really had a good time!!! I hadn't been on a jet ski in about 8 years....it's like riding a bike...you never forget how!!!
anyway, we're on our way back to TN.....decided to come back tonight...kids will fall asleep on the drive, and I really want to sleep in my own bed!!! We'll be home around 11pm.
anyway, the weekend getaway was great!!!! Loved every minute of it!!! I love the mountains in that region.....Yes, I could live there...very easily!!!
talk to ya'll later!!!

Just my opinion, but I think if you have successfully gone 30 days without sweet tea, you shouldn't get back into the habit! Save it for a rare treat, or have it with 1 meal on the weekend or something. I think it will help with your weight loss tremendously if you keep it to a minimum. Or you can tell me to go pound sand...
I'm glad you had such a fun weekend. Sounds like a big stress-reliever! :teeth:

Didn't get to the attic last night... :confused3 Head was hurting, dh was working late....heart just wasn't into it! Did some cleaning around the house...just picking up in general.
ok...i have a question...am I weird?? (shut up kiim!)
Seriously....I feel like I can't start a "project" until my house is picked up. I want to clean out the attic and get ready for the garage sale, but don't feel like I can start a mess, without cleaning up first. It's not like my house is a disaster zone...it's lived in. I feel like the dishes need to be put up, the laundry done, just general picking up, before I can start anything new. But, by the time I get all that done, I don't feel like tackling anything else. Am I losing it or what? We are talking about putting our house on the market, and I HAVE to get this done.....
Ok...so my goal for today.....(after work) WORK ON THE ATTIC!!
(it really shouldn't take too long to do...any volunteers to come help?)
thanks

I've gotten to the point where I don't even do anything "project-like" during the week. By the time I get home from work/gym, get dinner ready, do dishes, get lunches ready for the next day, etc it's usually 7-8pm. Once I get the kids to bed, I MIGHT get to watch TiVo with DH. Lately I've been hitting the sack around 9pm. Talk about FUN! And I wonder why I don't get any R&R on the weekends - I'm busy doing all the errands and other projects that I didn't do during the week...
I hope you get it done today. Why are you selling your house, you just re-did everything!
kmp1191

Well, I'd like to do all my projects on the weekend, and sometimes I can, but with the photography job, it's hard to fit it all in. This weekend I have a 6 hour wedding to cover, which is actually 8 hours of my time. (set up, and break down). I'm not complaining, I just need a couple extra hours in the day, and a few more sets of hands!!
Well, the neighbor just brought some more boxes, so I'm gonna make a couple of runs up and down the stairs. I figure I'm already all sweaty, so why not!! DH & I just did our 2 miles....too hot for 3!! I'm not dong too good w/ the running challenge....but I'm keeping up on my walks!!

No running last night, and had to limit the walk to 1 1/2 miles...too friggin hot!!! Like breathing water!! DH did run 3/4 of a mile, but was drained afterwards! I told him it's not worth passing out over!
Still no sweet tea!!! :woohoo:
Been drinking the heck out of some water, but not enough...only getting in about 64 oz a day...should be more.
Didn't get to the attic last night..had a FAMILY MEETING. Told the kids that school starts Monday, and the new rules start now!! DH backed me 100% on this...they each have their chores, and are responsible for picking up their stuff....nothing unusual, but it just wasn't enforced before. Now it will be. $5 a week allowance, and if I have to pick up their stuff, it gets thrown away, and no allowance for the week. Not unreasonable in my opinoin. We'll see what happens. Also, they are responsible for taking care of the animals. If the dog doesn't get fresh water, then neither do they!! You can have your breakfast after you feed the dog/cat....they can't get it themselves, they don't have thumbs!!
Yes, I know, I'm a mean mommy....deal with it!!

Marie, just putting my 2cts in on the kids chores/duties. :thumbsup2 Stick to your guns! Chores build character! Most of my boys friends have no responsibilities at all...it makes me nuts! Mine has always had some sort of chores. In the summer he has a list every day, very detailed tho. He never responded well to "clean your room" I have to write on the list...pick up the clothes off the floor, take everything off the table, dust the table...put everything back on the table neatly....etc. What can I say...he's a boy....short attention span.
A little idea that I use as well (reference allowance). Starting in 6th grade he would get 20$ per week for doing everything on the list. He would then have to decide whether he wanted to buy lunch at school or save the money. If he decided to take his lunch he would have to make it himself. The decision was completely his, but he got no money for food or snacks except the 20$. If he didnt do the stuff on the list he got no money ...and had to take his lunch whether he wanted to or not. In middle school they have "choices" for lunch and can buy ala carte items...it gets expensive. He could easily spend almost the whole 20$ on food if he is too lazy to make his lunch. Just a little economics lesson that works like a charm.
Mean Moms are the best!

Hi, Marie! :wave2:
I made it over to read your journal the other day and then life pulled me away before I could post. :sad2:
You have been doing AWESOME on your sweet tea challenge!! :cheer2: :cheer2: You are SO WAY better than I am. I do very well until I go out to eat then all will power flies out the window. I did want to thank you and Kim though! Because of your sweet tea challenge, I have cut out Most of my sweet tea and cut back to only one glass when I eat out instead of the endless refills that I used to get. So THANKS for the inspiration! Keep up the good work!
You are doing really good on your exercise also! I am amazed that you are able to do even 2 miles in this heat! You go girl! :yay:
I think your chores for your kids are reasonable and good for teaching them responsibility. Don't back down! I also love Linda's idea about the lunch thing! When I was in high school my mom gave me lunch money everyday even though I told her that I wasn't going to eat. I always skipped lunch and saved the money... not the best health choice, but I had extra money :thumbsup2
Hope you are having a Great weekend! :sunny:

Man o man, what a weekend!!! I'm ready to go back to work tomorrow so I can get some rest!!! Started off cleaning house yesterday...then had to run a bunch of errands...return stuff....then I had a wedding to shoot...supposed to be from 2-7....wound up being 2-9:30!! The place that was holding the reception's A/C went out...it was awful!!! I got the pictures of the cake before it completely collapsed!! Also, the bride and groom were stuck in traffic for 30+ minutes....some nutcase  was thinking about jumping off the bridge over the interstate and they had to close it off going in both directions!! The guy driving them finally did a U-turn in the median and found a different route to take!! I told the bride when they got there not to rush...I'd be there until they told me I could go...I figured she had had enough stress. The entire family was really thankful...(yeah me!!!)
Then today was DD's b-day party. DH got called out to help another officer, so it was just me, DS10 pirate: and 6 little 7 yr old girls!!!
princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess:
We went to Libby Lu!!! It was SOOOO MUCH FUNNNNN!!!!! people in the mall stopped and watched them do their dances and stuff....some even joined in!!! My photog boss came and took pictures....he let me be a mom today instead of a photographer!!! He took about 275 pictures!!!
I have no idea what I ate this weekend....it wasn't too bad... a chicken salad sandwich yesterday....water...lemonade....1/2 piece of strawberry wedding cake.....1/2 ham sandwich today...water.... 1 small square of giant b-day cookie (instead of cake).....I'm sure there's more....but who knows right now! I have to get busy and download these pictures before I fall asleep!!

Libby Lu is a GIRLS ONLY place.....they do their hair...some glittery makeup....dress them up like hoochie mama's and they get to dance and sing out in the mall area!!! It was a BLAST!! My boss took about 200+ pictures...I'll post a few of them later...I haven't even had a chance to download them yet!! Gonna make one heck of a scrapbook page(s)!!
Today sucked. Let's just leave it at that...ok.
I had a coke....chinese for lunch.....only one bottle of water...didn't walk, or run...cleaned up the garage instead...also started moving stuff around in the attic....brought some down to toss....some to sell.....I need HELP!!!! I know I have to do it...I just don't feel like it. I want to snap my fingers and make it all magically go away!!! Yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself!! DH asked me what was wrong, and I said, for once, I don't know where to start!! Normally I'm a very organized person, but now.... :confused3 I'm just blah!!! My bedroom is a disaster zone....so is my office....and I don't care!!! I think I need another happy pill.....

ok....i won't quit....but i'm not gonna weigh anymore either.
i'm tired guys......stressed out....fed up....and tired.
I got cut off three times this morning....WHILE DROPPING THE KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL!!! I finally rolled down my window and yelled at the JABBA THE HUT woman who about took off my front bumper! Not cool, I know, but come on people! We all have kids that need to get to the same place....no need to crush my vehicle because your precious child needs to be out first!! I told the kids that I would find a drop off point and they could walk from there....I'm not gonna deal w/ the stupid's before I get to work every morning!! The kids think that would be cool to walk a block to school.
Also, the kids are really doing good w/ their chores. DD keeps forgetting to feed the cat, so I told her, the cat eats before you do....seems to help her remember. DS is doing really good w/ his chores and exercises! I'm really proud of him. DH and I talked last night....I'm going to start the Couch to 5K program w/ DS tonight. ok...so no....we didn't workout last night. dh had to work late (got him some BAAAAAAD GUYYYSS! )
After I picked up the kids @ school, we went and got some groceries...fruit, veggies, cheese, yogurt.....good stuff for lunches! I also got some stuffed salmon & talapia...baked that for dinner....SOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! DS loved the salmon....dd wasn't too fond of either....she's still in the fishsticks are food phase. So anyway, by the time we finished dinner, homework, and showers, it was after 8, and I still had to get stuff ready for today (set clothes out, iron etc) I told dh that we would be doing our program tonight instead. I also didn't get into the attic....gonna have to really hit it hard tonight and tomorrow night!
so...nothing new going on here....dh dropped the kids off at school this morning, so I didn't have to yell at anyone...

Garage sale is done, and I'm exhausted!!! $450+ in 5 hrs!! That's alot of quarters and dollars!!! I sold SO many kids clothes, it was unbelievable!!
Kim, thanks for making me do this challenge...it wasn't that hard, but at times, it wasn't that easy either!!! (and my aunt calls me Ree-Ree, so I guess it's ok if you do too, Kimmy! :teeth: )
Gonna go soak my foot for a little bit...(don't ask... :rolleyes1 ), then I've got to get the house cleaned up. Photo shoot tomorrow, so no time then.
Would much rather be going to WDW with Kim... :sad2:

I MADE IT 30 DAYS WITH NO SWEET TEA!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I could sit here and tell ya'll that is was easy....piece of cake.....no problemo, but that wouldn't be the entire truth. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but at times, it was dreadful!!! Most of the times, it was lunchtime at work, or when we went out to eat, (which is not that often). I do believe I can cut it back to maybe twice a week...that is my goal for now. I do know for a fact that I will be having a gallon for breakfast tomorrow!!! :rolleyes1
Ok...so I already recapped the garage sale...went great! Today was exhausting!! Wedding show from 9-6...talked to a couple hundred people...was on my feet all day...had a piece of wedding cake for lunch and 3 bottles of water. I am SO ready for bed right now!! I'm going to finish my yummy (coconut) rum & coke, then head to nitey nite time.
Oh, one more thing....I have the MOST WONDERFUL HUSBAND IN THE WORLD!!! Some of you may think you have the best, but you're wrong!!!
He helped me get ready for the sale Friday night....was out there with me setting up and tagging the stuff....then got up w/ me at 6 on saturday to get it all pulled out and set up...and then he stayed out there with me the entire time!!! He dealt w/ customers....took money....bagged stuff...even helped load some heavy stuff!!! THEN, he helped me box up the remaining stuff and we took it right over to Goodwill!! THEN he did all the yard work...edged, weedeated (?), cut and blew!!! NOW then, today I told him to do nothing but sit and watch the race...BUT NOOOOO....he got ALL of the laundry washed and folded!! I just got done putting the stuff away!! I am truly the luckiest woman alive. :goodvibes
Sorry, just had to brag for a minute.
ok...off to bed...my eyes keep slamming shut!!

BTW......DH>>>talking to his co-workers on Monday......"I have the most wonderful wife in the world! You would not believe what she did this weekend! She pulled off this amazing garage sale on saturday and raked in 450$...then she had a photo shoot today and was on her feet all day...and do you know what she did? Told me to do nothing but sit on the couch and watch the race!!!! Can you believe that!?! I did do the laundry while she was working, but when she came home she put it all away! I'm living the good life guys....I think I'll plan a special romantic cruise for our anniversary just to let her know how wonderful she is!
(I added that last part in for effect....feel free to accidently let hubby see it... ;) )

Actually, gonna start a routine w/ ds. I said last week we were going to do the Couch to 5K program, but w/ the g-sale stuff, I put it off. We are starting it tonight...he's not happy about it, but oh well!!
Also....I'm not sure what my next "project" is gonna be. I have to replace the carpets in the bedrooms, and do some painting....but I might wait a few weeks....I might just sit on my butt for a week or so and do nothing!!! :teeth:

Food for today....I haven't been logging this, but I'm gonna start again...
b-poptart to go bar thingy
l-Lenny's chicken salad sandwich, baked lays, SWEET TEA!!!!! :sunny:
d-grilled chicken salad wrap w/ lt. ranch & fresh tomatos.... :goodvibes
water-50 oz,
sweet tea-24 oz
exercise-ran/walked w/ ds 25 minutes...walked 2/ran 1, walked 1/ran1 alternating this pattern for about a mile or so...DS HATED IT!!
I got a little mad at him because he was whining and crying. I turned around and looked at him...I told him if I could do it with a screwed up foot, then he sure as he!! could do it!!! I told him I wasn't asking him to do anything any other kid in his class couldn't do!! He finally sucked it up when he realized mommy wasn't gonna let him quit! Anyway, when we got back to the house we did our exercises~ 3 sets of 10 pushups/ 3 sets of 10 sit ups/ 2 sets of weight lunges and then some bicep/tricep curls. He was really getting into it at the end. He was pretty amazed that his old mom could do the pushups & situps.....(of course so was his old mom!!! :rolleyes1 )
I told him to get used to this routine....we would be doing it 3-4 times a week. He seemed ok with it, as long as I'm doing it with him.
ok...gonna go soak my stupid foot now....I'm such a dumb@$$! :sad2:
have a nice evening all!

I think it's great that you are exercising with DS! It will teach him some healthy habits for the future. Are there any sports that interest him? Or maybe he can rollerblade alongside you instead of running if he hates running. Whatever you do, don't make it so he hates it, find something that he loves so he will stick with it. You are a great mom for helping him get healthy! :thumbsup2
I'm glad to see you enjoyed a sweet tea. Don't get hooked on it again, use it sparingly. Pretend it's butter or something else you wouldn't overindulge in!

Your garage sale sounded excellent (esp. the part about the helpful DH :thumbsup2 ). That is one of the few disadvantages to where our house will be...we are way off the road on a dead end, so no traffic for a garage sale. I guess I'll have to make friends with someone who will let me use their yard :teeth: $450 to get rid of some old stuff you can't use anymore sounds great to me!
Your plan to work out w/ your son sounds great! Stick with it and I bet he will really look forward to it soon!

Hey all!!
Doin' ok here...just haven't been on my journal for a day or 2.
DS and I have gone running 2x's this week, and he really seems to be coming around on it. We have a mile course, and what I did last night was give him landmarks as the finish line. (two blocks to the corner, then we'll walk) He seemed to like that better than the timed ones. He's also coming around on the exercises. He's got a tummy on him, so the sit-ups are hard, but he's not giving up at all!!! He really likes it when it's my turn.... :sad2: We do 3 sets of 10 pushups & situps. (my stomach muscles are KILLIN me!!)
anyway, been eating salads and wraps...chicken salad & fruit....of course we had Chick-Fil-A for lunch today, but we were in a rush this morning...
ok...just wanted to check in real quick.....will talk to ya'll later!!

Mornin.... :wave2:
woke up w/ one heck of a headache this morning....already took 2 tylenol...not helping! Got a call from my neighbor last night...she's pregnant, and was on her way to the hospital....got a call from her daughter this morning...little boy born at 8:42am!! Can't wait to see him!!
ok...I have a dr. appt at 1:30 for my stupid foot. Hopefully he can fix it. I did something pretty stupid last week, and it's only gotten worse. I had a hangnail on my baby toe, and clipped it off....ended up taking most of the nail w/ it. Then it got a blister on it....and then it all got infected! :sad2:
Hurts like a bear!!! It's ok as long as I don't have any shoes on, but it's kinda hard to go shoeless all the time. Also, I've wrapped it to go running, but it is so painful that it's really hard to keep pace w/out crying! I've soaked it several times....but no good....so today the dr. will tell me what an idiot i am, and make it all better...I HOPE!!!
DH will have to take DS running tonight I think....
ok...hope you all have a great day....sorry if the toe thing was TMI..... :rolleyes1

Marie, what a great idea for your DS to run with you! I'm sure he likes the attention , too. :thumbsup2 Maybe your DD can join in sometimes too.
Be careful with your infection problem, be sure and give it time to heal. There are lots of feet problems going on...Amber is having trouble with her shoes too. I have heard people talk about using body glide on their feet, I might have to try that.
Good Luck and have a nice weekend!

Hey! Thanks Ya'll for the support! DS is getting used to working out. He weighed himself the other day and got discouraged because there wasn't any loss, but I told him it takes time....lots of time...and lots of exercise. He doesn't even get "huffy" when it's time to do the situps & pushups! Even though I can't run for about a week, he and DH are going to keep it up.
Ok...so the dr. (podiatrist) numbed up my stupid toe...that really hurt (made me cuss a little.. )...then he got all the infection and "icky stuff" off of it....and wrapped it up. Felt ok when I left there yesterday until about 4:30....then the numbness wore off. Man oh man did it hurt then!!! I came home and sat down for a little bit while DH went and got my perscriptions filled. I swear that's the slowest DH has ever been!!! Dr. perscribed antibiotic for the infection and Darvocet for the pain. I took one at 6 pm....and it did NOTHING!!! I was white knuckled just sitting there on the couch. About 7:15 DH brings me 1/2 of one, and I downed it...well, by 7:30 EVERYTHING in the world was good!!! :teeth: I was numb!!! I called my dad...talked to him for a little while....told him I felt blurry... :confused3 he was laughing at me...said I sounded drunk....
Anyway, took the other 1/2 at 10pm and went to bed. Had to soak it this morning, but I can tell it's already getting better. Feels 100x's better than it did last week, or last night!
Been cleaning house today...gonna reaarange DS room....clean out the crap. I swear he's the worst packrat I know!! DD is at the neighbors playing, and DH is watching the NASCAR race....I'm gonna finish up my stuff today so tomorrow I can scrapbook ALL DAY!!! :thumbsup2

Have you talked to your Dr about DS's weight loss? I thought I read somewhere that kids shouldn't lose weight, just stabilize so they grow into it. But that might have been for little kids. :confused3 I can't remember the details of the article, so I'll shut up now... I was just curious what his Dr suggested. That is awesome that he is making it part of his routine. Don't let him get discouraged about the scale - make it about getting healthier, not about losing weight. :goodvibes
My DS also had a room full of junk when I cleaned it out a couple weeks ago. He never even mentioned any of the junk I threw out - obviously he doesn't miss it!

good monday morning!!
What a weekend!!! I did housework ALL weekend!!! DS room is completely rearranged and looks great! House is clean....right down to the baseboards!! I started rearranging the office (dining room), but had to cut it short, so I'll try to finish it up tonight.
Had to take DH shopping...he's out of town all week and needed some new Dockers and Polo's....that's why I had to stop redoing the office.
Hey, here's a question for ya.....my dining room is 10x10- (i think) and I want to put the laminate hard wood in here (you know, the stuff that snaps together)....is this something I could accomplish this week while DH is out of town? Otherwise, who knows when I'll be able to do it.....DS has soccer practice tonight & Thursday, and I have a friend in town Mon - Wed....just goona go out to dinner on Tuesday....and homework......so, am I biting off more than I can chew....again? :confused3

Gotta tell ya...I tried sweet tea in Florida and OMG was it SWEET (hence the name)!!! I had ordered an unsweetened ice tea for me and sweetened for my kids. I tried theirs and HOLY COW!! No wonder you like the stuff...it gets you hopped up for DAYS!! :rotfl:
Congrats on your exercise plan with DS. I love that you're both involved in it (actually all 3 of ya ;)).
And, yes, I'd have to admit you have the best DH!! (You probably gave him some sweet tea to get going like that!!). My DH loves when I have yard sales and make money off of our old junk...but he doesn't like to help  . Actually he keeps the kids occupied...so I shouldn't say he doesn't help.
Tell your DH that you AND him are coming up north to help get my whole house organized and running smoother!! You guys are awesome!!

You and your DH are awesome with the garage sale and then getting your whole house clean & organized. Wanna come to CA and get my house put back together? :lmao:
How are the chores going? For us, it lasts about a week. But with our goof schedules this year (three different schools means three different calendars), I am going to need them to pick there stuff.

08-22-2006, 12:31 PM
Kim - you don't want me coming up there...according to DH, whenever I go on a cleaning/organizing spree, he can't find anything for weeks!! I tell him BECAUSE I PUT IT WHERE IT BELONGS!!!
Hey, thanks for MAKING me do the sweet tea challenge....I'm doing pretty good since it's finished. Some days I'll have 1 glass.....some days none! I don't go over the 1 glass a day now...and it's really only when I eat out. I've been bad these past two days though.....I've been on a coke binge!! :rolleyes1 (coca-cola!!) I had one yesterday, and one the day before. I know I shouldn't be drinking them, but I'm weak. I haven't weighed in about 3 weeks either.....I know I've gained....but I"m not worried about it. Honestly. DS and I are going to do our running tomorrow....(company in town tonight, dh out of town, toe still sore, but MUCH better)...and we are going to really start hitting it hard. He had soccer practice last night, and he was struggling....but I was SO proud....he never gave up!! I told him I don't care if he isn't the fastest runner, or if he comes in last every time....he's still a winner as long as he finishes!! He really seemed ok after that. There was another kid on the team...(brat) that REFUSED to run!!! Just flat out stood there while the other kids were doing what the coach told them what to do. His mom was really ticked. I told my son that what (brat) did was disrespectful to the coach and to his teammates. He said the kid is a jerk anyway! The coach finally told him that he could either run w/ his teammates, or he could go home and stay there, that this was a TEAM. He finally ran, but was really ticked.
Oh yeah, Amy....I did talk to the Dr. about DS weight....he is behind us 100% on a workout / diet program. He said to call him in a few weeks and let him know how it's going...he said he would recommend a diet regime if I wanted him to. DS is going to be 11 on the 28th and weighs 115lbs. When he was on the ADHD meds, he hardly ate at all, and then when we switched him to Strattera, he slowly started gaining, but then this summer, I took him off of it completely and he really gained. :confused3 I know he's not the most active kid on the block.....and I know I'm not the best parent in the world either....but we're on top of it, and we will all get healthy together. DS made the comment to me after practice last night that he wants to be a good runner and maybe do a 5K one day!! :teeth: I said ok....that will be our goal....we'll both work towards that! DH is almost ready for one, but I've been a slacker.... :rolleyes1
ok...gotta get back to work....not much to do...but gotta look busy anyway!!
marie
PS - Anna - the chores are going really good....surprisingly enough!! DD came to me this morning and said, "mommy, i can't feed the cat...do i still get an allowance?" i asked her why she couldn't feed the cat and she said "cuz there's no more food!" oops.... :rolleyes1
they are both doing really good about their stuff....just into week 3...so far so good!! :thumbsup2

A healthy family is a happy family and you are setting both kids up with really good habits that hopefully will last their lifetimes! I think it's great that he is interested in running. morning guys...hope ya'll are having a good day. :sunny:
Yesterday was a bad day....not food wise....life wise. I'm not gonna get into all the details, but it felt like another monday.
the topper of the day was when my mom called last night. she's been having some tests run....general stuff is what she told me....anyway, she had a colonoscopy done yesterday and they found a tumor. they said it would be about 5 days before they would have the results....but either way, it was a large tumor (not a pollup) and would have to be removed surgically. I hate this. I hate being so far away. I hate the waiting and worring. I feel like I did when she called and told me she had breast cancer about 3 years ago. She tells me not to worry, and I say ok....yeah, right. This morning sis#1 calls and wants to talk about it. I snapped at her. Told her I hadn't even been in the shower yet, had to leave in 15 minutes and I didn't feel like talking about it! Yeah...i called her back and apologized later. I guess I'm upset....and mad. I mean....here my mom is....just turned 60 on Saturday...has survived breast cancer, but continues to smoke. :confused3 I don't get it. I feel like she is being selfish for not taking better care of herself. I know people get sick....I know cancer happens in healthy people....I'm just worried.....I hate this.
ok....gotta concentrate on work now. yeah.... :rolleyes1 right.....
thanks for listening.

Yeah....she knows....we've ALL told her...we've ALL begged her to stop...especially after the breast cancer.... :confused3 she says it's her life. She's right...it is her life, but it still affects us. I used to go around behind her putting out her cigarette. I'd stub them out, or run them under water....really ticked her off. Oh...our kids have even said something to her. My dd was 5 and came right out and asked her...."Mim...why do you smoke...don't you know it stinks and it will kill you??!" Didn't phase mom in the least. :sad2:
thanks for the prayers....really needing them now.

morning guys.
been awake for a while now. don't really think i slept.
mom has rectal cancer. she has to have an ultrasound and scope done today, and then we will know what stage it's at. either way it will have to be removed and she'll have to have radiation. we've got a long road ahead of us. she will be in the hospital a week, and about 6 weeks recovery. i will be flying up several times over the next few months to help out. i already talked to my boss, and she said no problem.
i'm thinking positive. she beat breast cancer, she will beat this.
i'm scared. i'm mad. i'm confused. i'm worried as hell. i guess i don't get it. the doctor said it's been there for a while....how long is a while?? how come they didn't find it with all the bone & tissue scans she's had? Hell, she had 8 months of chemo...i thought that was supposed to kill the cancer cells? how come they told her she was cancer free? she had her last round of chemo in march 2004.....every one of her test since then has been negative! i asked her last night if she'd been having any problems and didn't tell anyone. she said no. she just wanted to have a clean bill of health before she went back to work full time. go figure. she's doing what you're supposed to do....general maintenance.... i guess the doctor couldn't believe that she hadn't had any problems either...no weight loss, no bleeding, no anemia...NOTHING!!
ya'll don't have to do anything but pray right now....even if it's just short bullet prayers once or twice a day...
i haven't really cried yet....i'm a delayed reaction type. it was 3 days before the breast cancer hit me....5 days when my uncle died, and 4 days when my grandmother died....go figure. :confused3 i'm sure that with the lack of sleep, it will hit pretty soon...
god...how do i tell the kids?!
ok....gonna go read up on this...i'll let you know more when i do.
thanks in advance guys....

Hey guys....THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Good news!!!
The cancer is still encapsulated...it has not spread!! It is considered stage 1!!
The Dr. said that he feels they found it pretty early.
So far, they have decided to do the LEAST INVASIVE procedure...
They will do 4 weeks of radiation, then 2 weeks off, then do the surgery. Hopefully, that will reduce the tumor enough so they won't have to go through the abdomen..and they can do it....the other way....and laproscopically. Considering what this is....this is the best possible scenario (sp?).
I'm pretty relieved about this...as is the rest of the family! She still has a long road ahead of her....but it's a much brighter road than originally thought.
I'll talk to her tonight and let her decide when she wants me to come up.
Thanks again guys...I really needed you and you came through for me!!
I love ya'll!! :grouphug:

oh...ps - they put some kind of blocker thing on the server at work, so I can't DIS at work anymore. :sad2: I guess some pervo downstairs was going to some XXX places.....EWWWWWWWW!!!
ps-s - had a meeting with the teacher at school this morning. DS will be going back on the ADHD meds. I'm not going to put him back on Strattera...I want something that will work a little better. She said he has NO focus at all, isn't turning any work in, and is in another world most of the time, and is easily distracted. I also told her that I wanted him to bring EVERY book home EVERY night...he's not going to be watching TV, or playing video games, and he LOVES to read....so he can read his Science book, or his Social Studies book. Yep, mean mommie strikes again!!
ok....gotta get homework done, then soccer practice.
again....thanks guys! I'll keep you updated on mom, & ds as we go along....

YEAH MARIE!!!
If she's gotta have cancer, that's the way to do it! Sounds like some prayers were answered already. :thumbsup2
No DISing at work?? You need a NEW job!!! :rolleyes1
And as far as your DS...good move meeting with the teacher. Hopefully you guys can work together to help him out.
Take care! We love you too!

That is wonderful news from the Dr. Good thing your mom went in for general maintainance and they found this when they did. I will still be sending plenty of :wizard: your way for continued good results.
Major bummer about no DISing at work! :sad2:
Glad you had a good meeting with DS's teacher. I hear you on the bring EVERY book home EVERY night thing. DD's may be bright, but organized? Not at all! We have a house rule about no TV/computer games during the week during the school year. It does seem to help. You have gotten your kids to do their chores for 3 weeks :worship: , you'll get through this too.
Take Care.

That is really positive news about your mom! What a relief that they caught it so early. And yay for her, being so proactive!
I hope DS finds a med that will work for him.
Bummer you can't DIS at work anymore! I wouldn't be able to do it at all during the week if that happened to me!
So with all the other stuff going on, how is your eating? Have you lost, gained, stayed the same? Or maybe you don't care anymore? :teeth:

Kim ~ I hear ya...if ya gotta have...keep it in one place, zap the $&%! out of it, and get it out of there!! The only thing I didn't know was that she has to have radiation for 4 weeks....right now, they say, everyday for 4 weeks!! :sad2: ...that has me concerned...but she's the toughest woman I know!!
Anna ~ Yeah....3 weeks!!! :woohoo: they like that allowance. I even forgot to pay them this past weekend and they didn't even notice!!! They do notice that if they put their stuff away, then they don't have to dig it out of the trash!!! OH....dd left one of her shoes (flip-flops) out and the dog DEMOLISHED it!!! we only found the strap!!! She was really ticked!! But she knew it was her own fault!!!
I like the idea of no tv/video games during the school week....gonna have to put that into effect too!! :thumbsup2
Amy ~ Well... the weight...it's a gain. :guilty: I haven't run this week...I've eaten everything in sight....my clothes are all tight! I don't dare step on the scale because that will only piss me off even more!! I told ds that we are running in the morning!! he said ok!
Yeah...no DISing at work has really sucked these last few days! It's not like I'm searching porn!! I can't even play solitare on my computer either...someone wiped that out a few months ago!! I told my boss I was gonna bring a casino/poker/blackjack game and download it!!! :rolleyes1
Hopefully I will be getting another job soon....IN ANOTHER STATE!!!
ok....DH got home this afternoon...major stress relief there...I'll actually sleep tonight!!! :goodvibes
I'm gonna go sit w/ him for a few minutes...then I'm going to bed....5 hrs of sleep in 3 days....yeah....i'm getting a little cranky!! :rolleyes1
nite all...talk to you tomorrow!!
oh...and thanks again for all the p&pd!! you guys are the best! keep mom in your prayers and I'll update as I know more.

Thanks Jen.....(I hear you want an Elvis shirt too.....?)
Anyway, today was good...got the house cleaned up...(thank god DH is home!!) I even took the curtains down in my bedroom and am going to get them washed up. (I even dusted the walls in there!!! MAJOR dustbunnie breeding!!)
We went to DD soccer coaches pool party/meet & greet today. Was a really nice time. There are some kids on the team that we've played w/ before, and some new ones. Gonna be a good year! oh, and for some reason...I must have been in my other personality mode...I volunteered to be the team secretary :confused3 WTH was I thinking?? I have to coordinate who brings drinks & snacks to the games, make sure we know where the games are, etc. no one else was volunteering and I felt bad for the coach....I did tell them that they would be responsible for helping out if I had to go out of town!! (yeah, right!)
Also, talked to mom today...she sounded good! I think I'm going to go home over labor day...THIS COMING WEEKEND! I already talked to my boss and she said I can have Friday off. (yeah!) The only thing that would make it not possible is if my Photography boss's mom takes a turn for the worse. She's 81 and is intensive care on a ventilator. She's improving, but slowly. He has a wedding to shoot on Sunday, and if he can't do it, I'll have to. He said he'd keep me informed on his mom. He said he could call another photographer to cover for us, but I told him not to...that if he couldn't do it, I would...it's my job. Yes, I want to see mom, but I also have to cover for him...he would do it for me.....that's just how we are.
anyway...gonna go get my scrapbook stuff organized....that's one thing mom wants to do while i'm there....I told her I'd bring my stuff and we would get some pages done. (she really enjoys me helping (doing) it w/ her)
ok...talk to ya'll later!!

I'm in a bad mood. Woke up that way. How can you wake up in a bad mood?? Does't something have to get you in that mood?? :confused3
Anyway, since I was in a bad mood anyway, I started balancing my checkbook and paying bills. Now I'm in a worse mood!! :sad2:
I'll snap out of it eventually....I'm sure it's mostly PMS. Should start soon...(tmi,sorry)
Ok....so on the agenda for today...
1) go for a walk/run - do situps & pushups (time to get back on track)
2) go get cake for ds's b-day gathering (his b-day is tomorrow, but I told 2 of his friends to come over this afternoon for a while...don't know what I was thinking!! :confused3
3) continue organizing scrapbook stuff...maybe even work on a page or 12!!
4) hide from kids
5) hide from husband
6) plan for better meals for the week....I've got to get this family healthy...it might kill me, but by golly, they'll be healthy!!!
7) get treadmill back from boss....gonna set it up in the garage..ds can do that in the mornings!
8) DRINK ALL THE WATER IN THE HOUSE!!!
9) finish balancing checkbook - rob a bank
10) long, hot, quiet bath~ :cloud9:
I don't know what order I will accomplish all these tasks, but this is my list for today. Wish me luck.
I think I'm gonna go back to bed for a little while....

I hope everying works out so you can go see your mom this weekend. I know you need to be with her right now. It'll make you both feel better.
Take care, and try to get out there & run or walk. It really does help clear your mind!
Oh, and I'm jealous you have a treadmill. I really want one. I know there are days I could hop on there & run while the kids are around and DH isn't. It's just impossible to run outside when he's not here. OK, enough of my whining.

Hi Marie - you did great with your goals today. Great idea to get the cookie, and it is fun and unique too. I am so with you on #3-5, but they keep finding me! This fresh food thing is not cheap, is it. Have you gotten the "there is nothing to eat!" speech yet from the kids (and DH!) when the pantry is full of food? What they mean is there is no JUNK to eat. They will get over it eventually. Hang in there! Why is it when we are cranky, can't sleep and wake up early we try and balance the checkbook? I do the same thing. Doesn't help my mood or the checkbook. When you find the money tree, let me know. 10 :rotfl2:
Have a great week. Sounds like you are getting off to a good start!

Nice job with the groceries! I know it stinks how much the GOOD food costs. But you're doing a good thing for you AND your family...and really, can you put a pricetag on that? :rolleyes1
When you get a chance, post that veggie wrap and veggie bake thing you used to make (and I assume will be making again). I remember thinking how good it sounds, but never wrote it down.
Talk to you later! Keep up the great work, girlie. You're on the right path... :moped:

I hope you are in a better mood today! :teeth: I know what you mean about expensive groceries. It's the pits! I guess I have just gotten used to it, but it really stinks to try to judge how many fruits and veggies will get eaten during the week before they go bad... I love apples and grapes because they keep longest. You are doing great with your shopping and the whole family will benefit.
I hope you get to see your mom this weekend! :wizard: :wizard:

ok guys, forgive me if i ramble tonight. I'm a little tired.
talked to mom tonight...now the dr.'s are saying something completely different. Now they say that yes, it is still incapuslated, and still in stage one, but that they need to remove it first. So, what they are suggesting is that they remove the tumor and follow up w/ radiation & chemo. Then they will monitor her closely for the rest of her life to make sure it doesn't come back...but the risk is hight that it would come back. They also said they can remove the tumor, and the surrounding tissue, and still follow up w/ radiation, but she would have a colostomy. That is the one thing she DOES NOT want to do. They also told her that they couldn't do the radiation first because it would burn the "tube", and she would end up w/ a colostomy anyway. There would be nothing to resect. I told her to get a second opinion. These dr.'s want to do the surgery within the next 2 weeks.
I asked her if she wanted me to wait to come home then and she didn't hesitate, she said no, i want you to come home now. Then she said, what are you gonna do if you come home when I have the surgery? I said "Sit at the hospital and look at sis#2." She laughed and said come home now..that way we can have some fun!
I'm trying to stay up....happy....relaxed.....but I am so damn worried I can't stand it. I've been doing pretty good so far, but it's getting harder. She's worried, and mad....and so are the rest of us, but again, I try to be the comic relief....that's always been my job....it's what I'm good at. I hate hospitals....hate everything about them. 3 years ago, my Dad spent a month in for gallbladder surgery & double pnuemonia.....I went up there once. He understood....he's the same way. :guilty: But I did talk to him everyday, and made him laugh at least twice a day. :teeth: (I also stayed at the farm and did the work that he normally does, that way my mom & sis could be up there)
ok...onto something better to talk about! 11 years ago today my son was born!!! :cloud9: 35 hours of labor, 3 hours of hard pushing, and he finally arrived....sunny side up!!! He is the sweetest, most lovable kid I know. Yeah, we have our share of problems, (adhd, anger, homework, sister), but I wouldn't trade him for anything!! He's mine!! :sunny: I strung a banner across his door so when he woke up this morning, it was the first thing he saw!! Also, I had ordered his gift online, and it arrived today! (he LOVES legos, so I got him the star wars Jabba the Hut Sailbarge thing...he's been asking for it for 3 months!!) I told him he could work on it for 30 minutes a night, but that homework and exercise came first!
ok...i'm rambling. I'm tired. I'll try to check in tomorrow. No DISing at work really SUCKS!!!

Definitely a second opinion would be a good move for your mom. Very hard to know who to trust & what decisions to make.
Take care of you & your family through this. Give lots of hugs so you get lots back. Feel free to cry when you need to. I used to tell my HS kids when I taught that God wants us to cry - We have all this water inside that has to come out & if we don't cry, we'll sweat too much & stink. Don't get stinky on us!!
Praying for all of you!!

Thanks for all the encouragement....I'm really needing it right now. TOM hit today, and I feel like crap!! I told my boss (female) that it felt like my breasts were going to explode!!! I'm so swollen and bloated...I hate this!!
Oh, I've also gained about 7 lbs!!! I haven't been watching what I'm eating, and I haven't been running either....I'm a sloth...a worm.....a lazy, bon bon eating rolly polly schmegworm!! I know I have to get back on track...I know this...why am I not??!! Depression? Worry? Stress? Kids? Jobs?
I don't have anything that the rest of you don't....so why am I such a slacker??? :confused3 Enough whining...I'm going to start back on my schedule tonight. I'm going to do my 3 mile power walk when DH & DD get back from soccer practice!
We started DS on Focalin this morning. If anyone has any knowledge, feel free to throw it my way. The teacher asked me how long before it starts working. I gave her a look and said, "Why, is he THAT bad?" I know he's not bad, he's just not focused...AT ALL!!! He brought home his Tuesday Folder....

I really hope you get to go see her this weekend! It is best to spend happy time together. Sitting around in a hospital doesn't really make good memories for anyone involved.
Happy late birthday to your DS! Sounds like you guys are working on a plan to get him healthy! Maybe with all the exercise you guys are doing, he won't need any meds!
I know that it has been difficult to concentrate on diet and exercise. I think that is just fine. Sometimes life just gets in the way. You'll get back on track when life gets a little bit calmer. Maybe a long evening walk through the neighborhood might be a good stress reliever though.
Take care of yourself!! :grouphug: I think that is some of the best advice that I have gotten in a while, so I'm passing it along!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist (which I am, by the way :teeth: ) to figure out what is wrong with you - it's the big S-monster: STRESS! Look at all that is going on in your life right now. Your mom has health issues, DS has school issues, you might be moving, etc... Remember that while you are taking care of everyone else, you also have to take care of YOU. Us moms sometimes forget that and we always put ourselves last. So pick one thing to do for yourself EVERY DAY. Take the dog for a walk and sort some things out in your head or make sure you have a healthy breakfast (or lunch or dinner) every day. Just do it for you and don't feel guilty about it! That's an order! ::cop:
I really hope things start calming down for you soon, but sometimes it only gets crazier before it gets calm. So hang in there, do your best and don't let the stress get to you too much! :grouphug:

Gee, why are you getting your hearing checked? Then you won't be able to say "Sorry, I didn't hear that"... JK, I hope all is well with that too. Don't you hate making appointment with specialists? They are SO HARD to get in to see!

Well, the hearing thing is more to prove a point than anything else. I say that the majoity of the people around me mumble. They say they don't. My boss says she thinks I have a hard time hearing different tones. I say I'm just really good at ignoring people! also, i have what everyone else has...a constant ringing. just gonna get it checked so he can say i'm normal. :thumbsup2 (shut up kim!)
ok....so i'm going to rush this journal tonight because i have to go fold some laundry and then pack. my goal is to leave tomorrow night after work and drive half way. that way i'll still be up there relatively early on friday. also, i don't drive well at night... :rolleyes1

So youre trying the Krispy Kreme diet eh? I have tried that one before too. If it wasnt for the whole diabetic coma thing I'm sure it would work out well! :goodvibes Throwing in the health bar was a sweet added touch tho...was that for our benefit? I think it may negate all the positive evergy of the straight Krispy Kreme thing you had going tho.
My gut feeling is your hearing is fine and everyone around you does mumble, or the tv is on, or the radio, or you are distracted by the million other things going on. I have my hearing checked every year (my job requirement) and my kid is always saying I am deaf. Nope! He just talks fast and wierd. Kids today!
Have a nice trip. When you come back you can reapply to the wish journal board and we will take your application under consideration. You may want to include some references just in case! :happytv: :sunny:

Have an absolutely wonderful time with your mom this weekend. As kim said, laugh, drink & be merry. Just be together. Sending loads and loads of P & PD :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: your way from CA.

wow....i was expecting a whole lot more "SHAME ON YOU'S" for the KC binge! I even left a few for later today!!! :teeth:
I'm going to blame the KC attack on TOM....my sweet tooth goes pretty wild this time of month..I have no control!!!
I did decide to do something kinda smart today...I'm going to pack a little cooler w/ fruit & cheese & veggies for the drive home. I'll leave tonight and drive about 4 hours, then do the same thing tomorrow morning....hopefully will be up there by noon. The kids won't like the fruit snacks, but oh well...remember...i'm the mean mommy!!!
ok....gotta get some stuff together...still gotta work today....(at least i show up...the work part is optional these days!!) have a good day, and I'll check in when I can....(no internet at mom's.....doesn't that just suck!!)
:thumbsup2 :sunny: :goodvibes :teeth:  :Pinkbounc :dance3: :joker: :woohoo: :bounce: :teeth: :rotfl2: :sunny: :cool1: :cloud9:

You know what I just realized......tomorrow is the start of a new month!!
What a perfect time for me to get my head out of my butt and get back in gear!! I know I'll be out of town, but so what!! There are still roads to run on....the stores still sell healthy food....why can't I get back to the basics starting tomorrow? :confused3 :thumbsup2
Ok....so that's my "new" goal!!
Tomorrow morning I will be back to getting healthy.
I'm going to sign up for 750 minutes for the exercise challenge...(don't want to be unreasonable...I want to be reachable!)
ok....i'll keep my food & exercise logged on paper until i have access to a computer again....WISH me luck guys....as usual, i'm gonna need it!!!

Nah, the sender was just running late as usual  You should have a nice surprise when you get home.
As far as starting tomorrow, I think that's a great idea. You should be able to get yourself moving. Still...have fun too. Don't turn into grumpy Marie (you know you DO) during your visit with your mom. Exercise (maybe get mom out for a walk) and do what you can with the healthy eating. I'll get on your butt about it when you get home. You want SHAME ON YOU, I'll give it to you with a smile! :rotfl:
Now why did you ruin a perfectly good Krispy Kreme day by eating......*gasp*....grapes? :teeth: :rotfl: I'm going to scold you for THAT one!
I do hope you have a nice weekend with your mom. Good idea to pack that cooler! Here's to a great September! :goodvibes

I can't believe I missed the donut fest! Where was my invite?!? Of course I am the minority that prefers the Krispy Kreme cream filled ones. You know, the ones that make your teeth ring?
I know you'll have a great time visiting with your mom. Congrats on the healthy re-start in Sept. Don't get down on yourself if you don't get the best beginning. It is really hard to stay on track during trips, let alone get started! You just have an awesome visit with your mom and worry about your new start when you come back! :thumbsup2

hey guys! i'm back! we got home about 5:45 this evening...that is such a long drive!!!
We had a great visit!! Had a few mixed drinks....sat on the front porch enjoying the weather....watched dad try to shoot gophers....he missed!....woke up at 4:30am to go to a swap meet at the local fairgrounds...it was really cool....all kinds of animals!!! My kids wanted to get a puppy....i said, how about a turtle instead?! WTH was I thinking?? :confused3 a simple no would have been just fine!! so now you can all welcome the newest additions to the family...Vader & Princess. Yes...we have 2 red eared baby turtles. I know NOTHING about these things, so any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Mom and I also got to hide in the basement and scrapbook for a while. We both really enjoyed that! Oh, and we made smores w/ the kids!! I did a few scrapbook pages on that...turned out really cute!!
Mom also did something I wasn't expecting. She gave me some of my Grammies jewelry. I'm closer w/ my mom's side of the family than my dads.
Anyway, Grammie always wore a necklace w/ a heart and a rose on it. Mom gave me that, and a diamond V necklace. She also told me that I will be getting Grammies 2nd wedding ring...it's the one that meant the most to her. Yeah...no emotional buildup on that, huh??!!
We also talked about the cancer, and what was going to be going on. She's mad,scared,nervous,upset.....a bunch of adjectives. But she is also very strong, and positive. I really admire her. We got a laugh one day....someone had called to ask how she was doing....I told her, from now on you respond with..."I have cancer in my @$$, how the heck are you??!!" Dad just happened to be taking a sip of (sweet) tea and started choking on it and mom almost wet her pants. Yeah, i'm a great kid!! :teeth: I then told her she didn't have to answer the phone every time it rang. That's the joy of caller ID. It was pretty neat....she would start checking the ID, smile and walk away! (I'm teaching her well, aren't I??)
oh....I also had some bad news while I was there. My photo boss's mom died on Saturday. :sad2: He knew she was going to pass, but didn't let me know how serious it was because he knew I needed to go home. I told him I could wait, but he told me he wouldn't have let me. I told him he is the most selfless person i know. They are having a memorial service for her tomorrow and I will go to that for him. She donated her entire body to science....how wonderful is that??!!
ok...i'm gonna go regroup for the upcoming week. gonna be a busy one!
love ya'll, and thanks for staying with me!
marie
Welcome back!!!!! :)
What a special weekend you had! That quality family time just can't be beat can it! I'm sure you'll treasure that jewellery forever.
Speaking of spitting out tea......I about did it myself when I read what you told your dm to say when people ask how she is!!!!! :D Seriously, your humour will be invaluable as you, as a family, get through all of this. You're a wonderful gift for your mother. Sending lots of hugs to you and your family (and to your boss. :( )
As for turtle advice......I've never even had a goldfish!! ;) Best of luck and here's to a great week ahead!

What a wonderful weekend you had! I'm glad you got the chance to go. That is so sad about your boss's mother. It's gotta be hard, even if it is expected.
I hope your mom uses your line on someone! Especially someone she doesn't know, like the checker at the supermarket. It'll blow their mind! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: Keeping a sense of humor about things is probably the only reason you are not clinically insane...
I don't know what to say about the turtles. JUST SAY NO comes to mind, but it's a little late for that... Let me know how low maintenance they are, DS has been wanting one since his fish died 2 years ago.

Yes, it is going to be a great week!
Mom had more tests run this morning with the surgeon. He said the tumor is about 2 cm, and he believes he can remove it without cutting the muscle, and her winding up w/ a colostomy. She will then have to follow up with radiation. The only drawback to this is that the chance for recurrance is high. BUT...if they do the other way, take everything, there's no guarantee it won't come back that way either. I say get it out of her and will deal with the other IF it comes back. Keep her in your prayers.
Ok....so today....
b-2 pieces (1 inch squares) cinamon roll squares
l-chicken salad, carrots, cauliflower & 2 1/2 tostidos
d-salad wrap
water intake-64 oz :woohoo:
tea-none
exercise-ran/walked 30 minutes w/ ds. (ran a block,walk a block)(i wanted to go more, but he was panting.... :confused3
Today was my bosses mothers memorial service. REALLY tough. He's having a hard time...but hell, who can blame him??! Anyway, I stayed for a little bit afterward and talked to him. He was glad I came....so was I. Again, he was showing concern for my mom....asking about her and everything....he really is something.
ok...gotta get busy on the homework front.
Have a great evening ya'll!!
marie
Good news about your mom! :goodvibes I understand why you'd want it to be gone, out of her body asap. Once they get it out and treatment is finished, will they do regular check-ups to check for reoccurences? Dh had a tumour removed a few years ago and had to get checked every 3 months afterwards, then every 6 months and now it's once a year.
Good job on the food and exercise with attending the memorial and all that emotion. Continued success this week!

What a sweet man your boss is! To think of others when he is experiencing such grief is truly amazing.
That is good news from the surgeon. You are right - don't worry about the IF right now, worry about what needs to get done now, then deal with the future when needed. When is she getting her surgery? Are you going to be able to be there during her recovery?
Your eating looks good (minus the cinnamon rolls :teeth: ) and that is great that you got your workout in! Pretty soon DS will be able to keep up with you.

Yes, we all falter (*cough* cinnamon rolls) but you went on to have a GREAT day! And look at you....NO TEA!!! Nice job with the water, too! :thumbsup2
I really like what the surgeon has to say about your mom. That is definitely what I'd go for too. Hopefully she can have the surgery soon, and then work on the recovery. :grouphug:

Is it possible to wake up on a Friday and it feel like a Monday? Man....it's 8:00, I haven't been in the shower yet, and I have to be to work in 30-40 minutes. I just don't care today. Serious Blahs I guess... :confused3
Ok...talked to sis this morning. Still no word on the surgery. BUT now they are saying that "if she has clear margins...(the area surrounding the tumor), and they are able to remove the tumor without any problems, then she won't have to have radiation or chemo.....but if the margins aren't clear, then he will have to go back in, remove everything surrounding the tumor and she would have a colostomy and would have to follow up w/ radiation & chemo."
Damn ya'll.....this is starting to get to me.
I also talked to dad this morning....his sister in law(deceased brothers wife ) had surgery yesterday...ovarian cancer....actually....there was alot of cancer in alot of different areas...they told dad that wherever they found it, they took it. She had it in her colon as well. 6 hours of surgery....and she will have chemo & radiation. This sucks.
I'm still staying positive on all fronts....just getting harder to do so.
Ok...gonna work today....at least I'm gonna show up...then tonight I'm gonna take ds running. Tomorrow is housework, and I'm going to scrapbook too....I don't care if the toilets don't get cleaned....I'M GOING TO SCRAPBOOK!!!

Great idea to get DS used to running more so he is more prepared for soccer. They do run a lot during that sport! DD came home from practice yesterday and I have never seen her face so beet red. I thought she was going to keel over, but she wasn't out of breath or anything, just red! Hopefully she'll get used to it too, that was only her 2nd practice.
Oh this dang cancer!! :guilty: I hate how it affects so many people. My thoughts are with your entire family. You sure do have a lot to deal with, but I know you'll get through it.

Thank you so much you guys!! Yesterday was a real bummer for me....my mood was just really sour....and it pretty much lasted all day! A couple of us went to a resale shop on our lunch hour, and I bought a $45 pair of jeans for $2.99....tags were still on them!!...we also stopped at Sonic and got some ice-cream.....even after that I was still in a funk. I came home, finished up the laundry (put clothes away) and then went to bed at 8:45. DH came in and asked if I was ok....and I was....just in a funk.... :confused3
Well, today is going better. They have scheduled mom's surgery for Monday at 5:30 pm. Yeah, I know...weird time, but at least it will be done. I'm not going to go home yet....mom said she would let me know if she needed me to come help. I'll be so glad when this is all over and done with.
Ok...so ds had his first soccer game at 9:00 this morning....they won 2-1!! :woohoo: I was so proud of the whole team...they really played well together!! DS is a guard...he doesn't run fast, but he doesn't give up either....the coach even told him that he was really proud of his "can do" attitude. Made him (ds) feel pretty good!
I also just finished coloring my hair!! Went back to "ginger spice". Got tired of the brown/blonde w/ ???? roots. :rolleyes1
I'm gonna go scrapbook for the rest of the day. Yes, the toilets are waiting....as is the dusting, and sweeping and mopping!!
I might even post a page or two when I'm done... :rolleyes1

That is great about DS's soccer game! DD's first game is next weekend. They did OK last year, this year 1/2 the team has never played before. This ought to be interesting... ok...so I didn't scrapbook all night like I wanted to. I quit at 10:30. Got a few pages done....but I haven't done the titles or journaling yet, I'll post them when that's done. Man...what a day....I REALLY enjoyed not doing anything but scrapping!!! It really was relaxing!!!
Today has been good too!! Got up...read the paper...had a bowl of Cap'n Crunch....then around 11:00 am, we went to a festival/craft fair in the neighboring town. Walked around there.....bought a Christmas ornament for Gunner, had a Polish Sausage for lunch.... :teeth: ...then the kids wanted to ride the "tin-can" rides....I convinced them that it would be more fun, safer, and cooler to go to a movie instead!! They actually agreed!!! :woohoo:
So, off to the theater....where upon I get a small buttered popcorn popcorn:: & a large caffine filled coke!!! (We saw Monster House....scared the crap out of me, but the kids liked it!!) (I also snagged some of DH peanut M&M's!! :teeth: )
So, now then, back at home, and I'm gonna do a few more pages....maybe some of my own this time.... :confused3
I told DH that some ice-cream sounded really good right now.....he said I'm stress eating...I said, yeah....do you have a problem with that?? :rolleyes1

Well, mom's out of surgery!! The surgeon told my sis & dad that he is pretty sure they have clear margins, but they will know for sure in a few days. He said the tumor was lower than expected...which may not be a good thing...more chance of damage to the muscle (sphincter)...but he said he didn't think he damaged any of it.
So, basically, the tumor is out of her body...YEAH!! but we don't know what the next step is yet. I hate this limbo crap!!
I also hate it when sis #2 calls sis #1, then sis#1 calls me. Sis#1 called me with the info, then she gets all upset and crying and crap and I went off. I've done pretty good so far, but dang....SHE'S OUT OF SURGERY...WHY THE HELL ARE YOU CRYING NOW?? Anyway, I told her she could call me back when she calmed down and she calmed down right away. I told her that if this whole thing went south, then there'd be time for tears. She is a wonderful person (sis#1) but she is SOOOO dramatic. It's really irritating!
Anyway....I guess I'm just a little out of sorts tonight...cranky...too far from home....
I dropped one of the turtles tonight. Damn thing ran right out of my hand! He's ok though....landed on his back in a full tucked position!! :rolleyes1
I cleaned the tank and put him back in...he said thanks and swam off.
Gunner is laying on his back chewing on his blue dinasour...don't tell him he's a dog...he'd never believe it!!
Ok...thought for the day...
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO STUFF A MUSHROOM.
Talk to ya'll tomorrow.

That is great news about your mom. :thumbsup2 I hear ya on the "limbo" thing. Patience is not one of my virtues either. Hang in there! :grouphug:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Poor turtle! Don't those things live forever? They must be pretty indestructable, right?
What does Gunner think of the turtles? :dog2:

Hey Marie
I'm glad mom came through the surgery well yesterday. Sorry about the sister drama...I know how that can be (one of 3 girls here!!) . Stay strong, girlie. You're the glue with them, it sounds like. I'm here for you, if you need ANYTHING.
Oh, and WHO stuffs mushrooms?? :confused3 :rotfl:
Great news about your mom!!!!! Let us know what the final results are. Must be a nice feeling to know that the tumour is out of her body!!
Those dang turtles are so resilient! He probably enjoyed the "ride"! :teeth:
Stay strong you, and have a great week!

Glad to hear everything went OK with your mom's surgery. I'm sure they will come up with a plan of attack soon. Hang in there!
I dropped DD's Beta in the sink once. I almost let it go down the drain, but she would have been crushed. It survived and that was about 5 months ago! This is the same fish that got splattered on the tile floor Christmas morning '04 (the bag broke and the whole aquarium shattered). The fish was just flopping around and everyone was staring at the mess with open mouths until my mom ran to the kitchen and came back with a glass of water to save the fish... I think those childhood pets are resilient for a reason! :goodvibes

Great news about your mom. Having a positive attitude really helps the body heal faster.
You have inspired me to get some scrapbooking done! My mom is coming over with her big suitcase of supplies on Sunday and while the kids are gone and DH is sucked into football, hopefully I will be able to get a couple pages done. :cool1:

Man....you're gonna have fun!!! Let's see those pages when you are done!!
Thanks again everyone for the well wishes and prayers!! So far, so good!! Haven't heard from the Dr. yet about her margins, but I feel really confident that they are clear. They have to be!! Anyway, we're pretty sure the Dr. didn't damage any of the musle...(I won't go into detail of how we know that, but let's just say, everything is under control!! :rolleyes1 ) I talked to her today and she was pretty sore...but in a good mood. Damn, I'm homesick!!
ok...gotta get busy on homework and dinner!
I'll check in later!
Thanks again everyone...I wouldn't make it without ya'll!!

So glad the news is good for your mom and no "collateral damage" from the surgery and that she is feeling positive. That really is so important, I think.

Hey Marie...I'm SO glad you're doing well with this. I know it's hard to not be with your mom right now, but your positive attitude is WONDERFUL!! :cool1:
Sorry I wasn't around yesterday...had to fly to DC for work and back and then had MIL's retirement dinner. Yesterday is a complete blur!! :rotfl:
Keep those spirits up, woman! :thumbsup2

Hey All!!
I just received an email from Marie. She's working right now (and can't DIS) and has a photo shoot tonight...so she asked me to post an update regarding her mom!
_______________
MARGINS ARE CLEAR!!!!!!
They like to have a 1 cm radius of clear margins, but mom has 1/2 cm radius, so they are going to schedule radiation and chemo....just as a precaution....BUT NO MORE SURGERY!!!!!!!
She just called me....giggling like a 7 yr old!!!
Damn, I'm in a good mood now!!!
have a great day!!!

What a relief about your mom. Hopefully she will be on the lowest dosage of chemo and radiation so she can get through that without any nasty side effects!

Hi gang!!
Yeah, we're pretty happy with the results!! Thanks Kim for helping me out...AGAIN!!! I talked to her this evening and she sounded pretty tired. She's doing a little bit too much and isn't taking it easy like she should. She'll figure it out pretty soon!!
Ok...so things around here are going good. DH is running every night. DD & DS are both doing good at soccer....I'm upset because I"m going to miss the first two games for both of them. Photo shoot this weekend and out of town next weekend.
I've been doing LOUSY on the diet!! I ate a burrito as big as my thigh today for lunch!! It was HUGE, and I ate EVERY bite!!!! :rolleyes1 Yeah, no wonder my 12's are getting tight!! I'm not worried about it right now. I'm going to go back to cutting back on my portions and get back into walking EVERY night. Other than that, I'm not going to stress out over it....life is too short to stress all the time! I'm going to pick and choose my stress factors...and right now...I refuse to stress about ANYTHING!!!
Ok...gotta go take care of Vader & Princess, and Gunner and Tortie!!!
g-night all, and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PRAYERS AND PD...I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!
ok...enough mushy.
g-night!

I wonder if a burrito as big as your thigh is as big as a burrito as big as my thigh. Probably not! :goodvibes :rotfl:
You'll get back on track as soon as everything slows down a bit. Don't worry, be happy! :teeth:

After saying you did so bad in my journal I was expecting to see that you'd eaten an entire cheesecake with no fork then washed it down with a couple Krispy Kremes and a pitcher of sweet tea! I'm so disappointed to learn it was just a mongo burrito... :confused3
It's great that you are going to get back into walking and portion control. That makes a big difference!
Bummer about the soccer games, can DH record them for you?

Hmmm... Burritto the size of my thigh....that sounds familiar.... That is what I had for dinner last night! :rotfl2: But I one upped you and washed mine down with 3 chocolate chip cookies! :smooth: Oh, well, we'll get back on track one of these days.

Hi Marie-
I think you are right about not stressing about the food/weight right now.
Have a great weekend
I agree with you and everyone else. Do not worry about your eating right now with all that is going on. I have no doubt that you'll get back on track when things settle down.
Burrito as big as your thigh huh? Is it wrong that I felt a little jealous? ;)
Hope you're having a good weekend!
