Hi Beverly Lynn!

You've helped me in the past so I thought at a whim I would check with you again on this. Way back when I booked airline tickets on Airtran and you told me that they would probably come down after they detailed the flight and that if that happened there might possibly be a way to get some sort of voucher or refund. Well I've called Airtran and they keep telling me that it is a non-refundable ticket and that they can't give me any credit whatsoever if the price of our tickets goes down. I know you said that there might be some way to do this but maybe not.

I just read on another thread that someone who has a friend who works for Airtran said that they are going to announce a major sale on Tues. Oct. 30th. We went ahead and purchased our tickets back in July because we wanted to make sure we got a particular flight time coming and going. Well would'nt you know that even before the sale this Tues. the prices are lower than what we payed. We booked our tickets 5 of them in July and paid $280.00 roundtrip a piece. I think they're now down to around $210.00 roundtrip. It sounds like they will go even lower with this new sale. Is there anything I can do or should I just call it quits?? I don't want to risk loosing the flight that we have now but it sure would be nice to get the difference back if the fares go down alot. I appreciate any insight you can give me you've been a great help!!:) By the way our airfare is for Dec 13 returning on Dec.20 and we will be staying at the Contemporary Towers for the first time. I know you were just there is there anything new and exciting??? This will be out first time in the Tower we stayed in the wings back in April and I can hardly wait to stay in the Tower!!! Now if I could just get a complimentary upgrade to the Tower Club concierge on the 11th floor I'd really be excited!!!
Again Thanks For All Your Help!!!!;)

airtran does not like to give money back. contact them again and insist that they give you the difference. we used to have a lot of people coming to the counter to have this done. when you call them tell them you want a supervisor and explain to the sup that the fare went down for what you are holding and you would like the difference back. they put it into a que for you to use at another time. tell them too that you will use it towards a future flight on them. be firm yet nice about it. don't let them bullcrap you around. they love to do that.

Not all airlines give a refund if the fare goes down after you buy your ticket. For this reason I generally suggest waiting until the fare "goes on sale" as opposed to buy at their "everyday low price".

Some airlines refund only in the form of a gift certificate, some airlines insist on reprinting your ticket and charging you their change fee.

If you want to fly on a popular date, such as just before THanksgiving, you have to book more quickly to get the flight of your choice, even if you have to miss the real sale fares.

I booked a trip over Thanksgiving 2001 back in January. I noticed that from time to time fares came down but not for the dates and flights I chose.
