We went to Discovery Cove in November of 2000, and although we enjoyed our day very much, I was somewhat disappointed with the dolphin interaction aspect of it. I realize it is for the dolphin's safety that there are limitations with the swimming aspect, etc. I still felt it was extremely limited. We touched the dolphin's back and dorsal fin as it swam by us, then each individual was pulled a short distance while holding onto the dorsal fin - just long enough for them to snap a picture of you and sell it to you for about 30 bucks! Then we were basically told to get out of the water to make way for the next group.

Has this portion of the experience changed at all since back then?
It was still a worthwhile experience for us but I wouldn't pay that kind of money again for the same thing.

Thanks!

*** For anyone reading this who is thinking about going to Discovery Cove - don't let my comments discourage you! Our day there was still a wonderful time. Snorkeling in the fresh water area was amazing and very relaxing. Overall it was definitely worth our time and money.***

Walt Disney offers a dolphin interaction as well. For 150.00 person, you get video, picture, t-shiirt. It is 3 hours duration with 30 minutes for dolphin interaction.

Over the last 3 years it has not changed - DD & I did TFAD in 2004 which included the normal DIP, 2005 we went and only she did DIP. She just got back from Career Camp @ SW which included a day at DC. It was still the same. Basically as you originally described.
