We checked in yesterday and our room was not ready. So we spent the afternoon in the pool. The CM's broadcasted the launch, we counted down and we were able to see the shuttle from the pool. Very cool!!
We are in the Congress Park section. Last night Downtown Disney's fireworks were awesome! The best part.... we didn't need to leave our balcony. Absolutely perfect.
This is our first time at SSR and we are lovin' it. Definetly will come back again.

That was cool!!
I think that SSR has some of the best Recreational Cast Members on property. They always do stuff like that! They are really involved and love what they do.
The fireworks for DTD are awesome too! We have really enjoyed sitting on our patio and watching the NYE fireworks the last 2 years.

The launch was scheduled while we were there, then of course postponed, but I was telling dh that I thought i'd read here that they'd be able to see it from VBR (which was where we were originally going, so we would have been able to see it had it launched when it was originally supposed to and had we been there lol). How awesome that you got to see it from SSR!!!

mello - I'm sure it was even better at VBR. I had no plan of being able to see it anywhere here. It was truly amazing. I just wish I had my other camera with me. But since we were spending the day at the pool, I just brought my disposable water camera. I took some pictures and am eager to have them developed when we get home. I almost ran to Walgreens to have them developed while here, but just haven't gotten it done.

Wow! That is really cool! DH and DD watched it on tv and 5 yo DD was very interested in the fact that the launch took place close to WDW.

We have seen several launches from OKW over the last 14 years, but then again, we can see it from our home on the gulf coast. Night launches are the best.
