View Full Version : Hey Whispering Canyon group on the 27th! Or anyone interested in resort hopping.
I was just thinking...I know a dangerous thing. How about after the Whispering Canyon dinner, maybe 7 pm or so, we can do the Christmas resort hopping on the 27th?
We can start at the Wilderness Lodge, and take the water shuttle the TTC and hop on the monorail there. Then we can hop the monorail resorts and see the resorts lit up for Christmas...you know maybe even have a drink at each one ..."coffee, tea or alcohol.. pick your poison" ;)
What do you guys think? I think the resorts at night would be awesome. Anyone interested?
OK, working list of those who posted that they want to do this.

I am thinking WL, Poly, Contemporay, GF, YC/BC, Boardwalk, S/D.. what do you think? We could end up at Beaches and Cream or anything that will be open late. I know Tubbi's is open 24 hours..

WooHoo!!
Now you're talking! This sounds GREAT! Are there going to be fireworks @ Magic Kigndom that evening? If so, maybe we could cordinate a place to enjoy a drink/or whatever and see them at this time as well since we'll be doing the Monorail resorts. Hmmm, the timing may not be quite right though. You WDW experts will have to figure that one out!
I am so glad that you have suggested this time for this! That was when I had considered doing this anyway.
Just let me know what's going on for sure here Marsha, the girls and I are definately IN!
Gerri
That would be cool since we are all on the Epcot end we can tour those and end up at one of the places mentioned...A huge hot fudge sundae would be just the thing to end the day....lol

Does the boat go from the WL to the TTC - or just to the MK? If it goes only to the MK - you can get the monorail there and start at the Contemporary.
As long as you'll be on the monorail at night, be sure to take it from the TTC to Epcot - because it goes over much of Future World. I'm assuming you'll have AP's or else will have been in a park that day - then you can walk through Epcot to get back to Beaches and Cream.
Sounds like lots of fun. :) Too bad I'll be elsewhere with my family that day. :(

If so can I host this one since I am no longer going to be hosting the Osborne Loght Tour ...I was really looking forward to that one.

Dh and I think that's great and my DS is along for the ride (he he he). When I tell him we need to make plans and to come over so we can, he just says "whatever you want to do". Little does he know! :D
I think this is an EXCELLENT idea. Glo! Great job!! It seems to fit in perfectly with our plans! We can fine tune the trip as we get closer, since things seem to be changing all the time. But, I do think this is a terrific way to end our first night, and I love stopping for a drink or dessert at some point! :D :D I am definitely in for this one! :)

It is a great !!!!!
glo, but for a moment I had this weird impression that you were proposing a dangerous combination of the yuletide tour with DATW :D :D :D :D
I think we could take the boat from WL straight to the Contemporary and proceed on to the other MK resorts, then Epcot resorts, finishing at BC (i.e. Kitchen Sink). This is going to be fun, fun, fun!!!
Oops, and I remembered sg. We can take the bus from MK and go straight to one of the Epcot resorts, avoiding to cross the whole park (and making it easir for people who don't have Ap).

Is everyone accounted for that is doing dinner at Whispering Canyon that night?? I think it best to hear from all involved before we add to Itinerary, but I think we should plan on it.. Glo and I were chatting this morning about this... and Livia it does sound a little like DATW and Yuletide Tour.. LOL At least this way we can tour some of the Resorts because it sounds like we are going to be too busy otherwise.. and I have intentionally left my dance card open for unexpected events..
BelleMom
10-27-2001, 06:03 PM
Marsha, I think we had around 30 diners at WC, right Barb? So I think quite a few haven't said a word yet.
And my dance card is not complete also ... I still have (pardon the pun) some gaps in it.;)

This sounds like a great idea to me! We'll probably have to skip any parts that require park admission since we'll be using parkhoppers and do not plan to be in Disney parks that day - it's a Universal Studios/IOA day for us. I love the idea of touring the resorts with a group of DISers. What could be better than sharing those great decorations with a great group of DIS friends? :D :D :D

I'll miss this one. Not getting in until 11PM that night. But I'll be thinking christmas carols on the plane for ya. Of course, I might forget while I am relaxing in my first class seat. Of course, if I was a good sport I could switch my flights, come down a day early and fly in coach. NOT!!!
I think this will be a blast. I will find out exactly tomorrow where the water shuttle from the WL takes you to. Either way it will put us on one of the Monorail stops. Perfectmatch you do not need to use park admission to see any of the resorts. I was thinking of doing WL, followed by Contemporary, Poly, and GF then take monorail or car to the Swan/Dolphin, then the Boardwalk and end at the YC/BC. We can end with icecream, or at Tubbi's or anyplace in that area....I am planning that it will take us atleast 3 maybe 4 hours to do this in a relaxed manner....and enjoy..
Barb, not totally my idea, Marsha and I have been discussing this for a while, as we have been very interested in doing this as a tour. This morning we just hashed it out and put it together...not a bad mornings work huh?
So what do you all think?
BelleMom

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
That is what I think!!!!
As I will be arriving a day earlier, I will be certainly up to this Christmas extravaganza!!!!!
Just one thing: we can't take the monorail to the S/D, glo. If we do so, we will have to cross Epcot and leave through the International gateway: I don't remember buses to the Swan from Epcot's main gate. I believe it should be more convenient to take the bus from MK (or car) straight to S/D.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Ice cream!!!!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Yes, Livia you are correct....we would have to take a S/D buss from the TTC ...I forgot that Epcot would be closed by the time we were done with the monorail resorts. SO it would be the resort busses...Still, not a bad form of transporatation.
I would love to see how many are interested...I know I am doing it no matter what...lol

I am Interested..sign us up :D
We have about 22 confirmed for Whispering Canyon right now, but I don't have Glo or Marsha included in that list. Are you two coming for dinner? If so, how many? Here's who I have that have confirmed for WC:
me
Steve (disneycub)
Taryn
KarenNY
Ray Sharpton
Secret Diser-2
Sandra B.
Perfectmatch300-2 (Nancy)
Frank (lowellsdad)
PatinMn
Roger Brown
DVC-bwv-3 (Norma)
Livia (bellemom)
Gerri & 2 DD's (fostrmom2mny)
Marilyn and Wally Bloss
So there are a few missing right now. Did I miss anyone? Between all of us, I'm sure we can figure out how to get to the S/D area after we do the monorail resorts. I think taking a bus from the MK directly to the S/D, is the best way to get there. This will be a great way to begin our DIS-Con adventure!!
Barb,
I will have to pass on dinner. I get in that afternoon, and it will be a rush to make it there in time. I will definitely be there for the tour around 7pm. I don't want to be to pooped to have fun with all of you that night.

Secret DISer
10-28-2001, 11:53 AM
Yeah, I also was wondering how late the bus transportation would be running that night. We'll be staying at ASMo with no rental car, and have to find a way back that night!!
BelleMom
10-28-2001, 11:56 AM
Oh boy! With the present situation of early closure, I think you would be much better off driving, Pat. I know transportation between resorts can be tricky anytime, and at this time of the evening, I guess you would end up in DD. Maybe you could park at TTC and we could split the group and regroup again at the Swan, so you wouldn't have to be driving to YC and going back to WL.
There are always taxis around near the hotels, if one isn't there you can call for one, and it usually is less than 13 dollars....but I am sure that there will be DISers with cars...
There is also the "not-so-terrific" DTD we can use as a hub to get from our last stop to your home resort. Pleasure Island, the Marketplace, and the West Side are open late, although I don't know how late these days. You can always catch a bus from a resort to DTD and then get your bus back to your resort from there. It does work, but sometimes takes almost forever! Is there anyone or anyway we can check how late bus transportation is running these days? Let's face it, if the parks are closing early, Disney would like you to spend your money shopping or partying instead.

:p :p ROTFL:p :p We won't be boisterous at all, will we?? A bunch of friends getting together for the first time, after spending an evening at Whispering Canyon!?! Can you see us all getting on the monorail and the buses?!?!
Barb??? US boisterous? Please, we are the epitomy of decor and respectability....does that sound right? ANyway not me, my mom taught me how to behave and not do anything embarrassing...hehehehehehehehe
Only thing is that I KNOW atleast one person who will have to be made to behave and conform to the rules of civility, but she will deny it.....we will have to see...

We will have a lot of competition at Wilderness Cafe. Maybe we can outdo the castmember servers.
I can't wait to meet everyone.
This is my very, favorite time and place in WDW. I guess this is where we will be waiting for each other for dinner and after dinner.
I hope the picture came out. The photographer is standing just inside the Wilderness Lodge, to the left, and in front of the stairs to the Wilderness Cafe.

That's right, Ray. That's where we'll be waiting for everyone. I seriously thought about making some sort of lime green flag to catch everyone's attention. I figured it'd be easier to spot than ribbon on a backpack or pinned on a shirt. What'd think?

OMG Ray, that picture is breath taking! Thank you for sharing it and for giving us the actual dynamics of where the photographer was standing when he took this. I certainly want to get one of my own.

Barb, I think you've got the right idea. How about making a small, 5-inch, lime-green, index-finger flag. You could slide one end over your finger and raise your hand and arm and wave. You woundn't need a flag pole and it could easily fit in your pocket. And you could use it anywhere. If you saw someone in the park or resort, you could just pull out your handy-dandy finger-flag and wave it above your head to get their attention.
Do you think that I should apply for a patent for this idea, LOL?
Fostrmom2mny: Here's another picture. The photographer is standing on the upper floor balcony looking down toward the opposite wall of the lobby. To the bottom left of the far floor area is the entrance to the Whispering Cafe and the open restaurant continues along to the right behind the Christmas Tree.

Great pictures, Ray! I could almost feel the smell of the gingerbread house, which is somewhere in the lobby of GF! I just can't wait for our resort-hopping tour.
Now, glo, I am very intrigued. This must be another DisCon mistery... Who is the "she" who will have difficulties to behave according the basic rules of civility????? No, I think you should be mistaken. We are all so respectable and well behaved here... So dignified and refined. So discreet and elegant... We could be meeting at Buckingham Palace and we would be easily mistaken as royalty.
Oh Livia....I am so glad to know that you can be so easily mislead...j/k.
I do not know if it will be the same, but I can tell you that is the group of DISers up here are any indication of what may happen down there, then we are all in big trouble....lol

Yes, I'll be joining you. The only thing I've got to figure out is how to get back to the Wilderness Lodge after the tour to pick up my rental car to go back to my off-site hotel. Guess I could just cab it over to the WL for the Whispering Canyon dinner, and then cab from wherever we wind up back to the Grosvenor.
And I do believe everything the tabloids say. Especially about royalty and the guy who found a mermaid in his soup.
