I have a bunch of short video files in the MOV setting, but I recently bought a new computer with XP Media Center and it doesn't recognize MOV files as video. How do I convert my MOV files to MPEG or something that XP recognizes as video. Hope someone out there can help me.

Mov Are quiktime files, you can download quiktime for free from apple.

As for converters just do a google search for keywords "mov to mpeg", you should get dozens of free converters.

I can watch them on quicktime. But my problem is Media Center doesn't recognize them as a video file. I did a search and see a lot of software that say that they will convert them. Do you have any idea which ones are good or garbage. Any advise would help. Also I don't see any that are free. I called Kodak help line and they said that I would have to buy a third party program to convert my files but they would not give any recomendations either. Thanks

Dunno if it's any good, but this was free:

I personally use Ulead VideoStudio 9 to do all my video conversions, but I paid for it. :)

I guess I'm confused. If you can watch them with Apple's Quicktime, why does it matter if Media Center doesn't recognise them? What else do you want to do with the files? I'm not really familiar with what Media Center is able to do with media files.
