We booked a grand gathering for this Aug. with the free dinning one of the people in our group misunderstood the deposit date and tried to pay for her package in full today to find that Disney cancelled her reservation yesterday! Now Disney says there is no way we can fix this problem. It is my daughters honeymoon and my mother's room. She is 82 (my mother) and this will probably be her last trip. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really like to hear them. Sorry for rambling but I am sooooooo upset with Disney. My daughter is about to cancel the whole trip! I really don't want her to do that but she wants my mom to go sooo bad.
Thanks

Number one: Call back!!! Different CMs often have different answers or are able to do different things. If the CM can't help, ask for a supervisor, or call back again. Or call the Grand Gatherings number (unless that's who told you it can't be done).
My understanding (not supported by any solid evidence from Disney) is that they allow a couple of days' grace period, probably because some people count wrong - or if someone is mailing a check it may not arrive quite on time.
I calculated your visit starts August 15? That's 45 days from yesterday; any/much earlier than that, and I can see Disney's point.
At the VERY worst, book your mother a room without the free dining - there's apparently PLENTY of food available on the plan, some of you can share meals.

Our visit starts Aug. 19 the reservation that was cancelled starts the 20th of Aug. So we still have lots of time until the 45 day period. My sister called today to pay the TOTAL due!

So to clarify - no deposit was put down to secure the reservation?
I would think your only option would be to book the room and pay for the dining.
