My family and I will be headed to HHI for a quick trip mid-August. Actually, only have 2 nights there. We are familiar with Hilton Head itself, be that my parents live in Savannah and we travel there every so often when we visit them. However, we have never stayed at the DVC resort there.
So, for all of you HHI experts, what activities would you recommend for a DD5 and DS2 from their plethora of activities that they offer? Also, any tips or recommendations that you guys might have would be much appreciated? Should we pre-book anything?

Shannon Tanner at Shelter Cove is great for the kids. I think he plays at 7pm.
Also, try a crabbing trip (we went on the Crabber J)---- they just put chicken on the end of a fishing string and everyone catches crabs. It's fun and requires NO skill (and you get out on the water).
Have fun!
The fish painting, the unbirthday party, the magic show and tales with Shadow have always been a hit with my kids.....B'Lou Crabbe is the GREATEST ever!!!! Also the campfire is a GREAT time (Shark attack!)! There are also various crafts- at the BBQ there is face painting, little kid crafts and general fun games......
We will be there 7/17-7/22. We go as a respite after WDW.....my kids are a little older now (well, a lot older- 18, 14, 10 and 8). The littlest still likes those activities and the pool games, as well. The CM's are the GREATEST ever and seem to really like little kids.
It is a great resort- very laid back, very different from WDW but the best! Have a great time.

Does the DVC resort at HHI have kid activities all year round or just during the summer months?

The HH resort is great for everyone, but especially fun for little kids. My little cousins loved the fish t-shirt painting (gyotaku? I think?) and painting flower pots. Whatever you choose, you'll have fun!

Thanks everyone for all of the great advice. I'm really looking forward to this trip. Sounds like the kids will enjoy it as well.

B'Lou Crabbe is a storyteller/magician/balloon artist that tells tales of HHI.
There are fireworks on Tuesday nights during the summer, but I believe that the campfire is on a different night.
