For some reason I thought why not have a thread, so what do you know about Portugal?

Kicking it off ( so to speak)

Its next to Spain.
To its south the beach area is called the Algarve.
Port comes from it?
Their footballers like red cards????????
The last European football championships were held there.

Anything else?

They will loose on Saturday????

The big questions is will they win or lose tomorrow. Only know that Christiano Ronaldo has got the loveliest body when his shirt comes off!!!!!!

England's oldest and longest serving ally - Treaty of Alliance signed in 1373.

Has its own language.

Liberated from France by Lord Hill in the Napoleonic peninsula wars.

Has a jellyfish named after it.

Were beaten 2-1 by England in the semi-final of the 1966 world cup.

Columbus asked King John II of Portugal to sponsor his expedition to find a new trade route around the world....

King John II said "Go away.....", so he chatted up Queen Sophia of Spain instead.

Why do English fans always always look for someone to blame?

Did Ronaldo make Rooney stamp and push - no he did not. OK I'll admit his attitude wasn't very sportsmanlike but that is part and parcel of the game. All players do it - some are worse than others. Rooney is a loose cannon - Ronaldo would know that more than most but Rooney was sent off because of his own stupid actions and no-one elses.

Presumably it was Ronaldo's fault that only Hargreaves managed to score a penalty as well?

Let's not turn this thread into a football argument please.

The comments about Ronaldo were intended to be taken in a light-hearted manner, I don't think it would be fair on Andrew if we turned it into a 'how England lost' type of scenario.

Lets keep it friendly guys and on topic, although I am a bit confused as to what the topic now is, as it started off as what we know about Portugal and seems to changed to do we care about Portugal??? :confused3
