I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to ask, but what can I do besides WDW? I have a free full day before returning home with DH & DD (4 1/2 yr). I am staying at an off site resort, Courtyard by Marriott and also have car rental. Any suggestions?

you can easily spend a week at WDW.

however I also like Seaworld, US/IOA, local zoo.

there is also Silver Springs and Cypress Gardens - around an hour away from WDW.

This is the place, alright!

I'd say the number one thing is SeaWorld. Not far from WDW and odds are your daughter would love it. Cost is about the same as any other theme park, around $60 for adults. If you've got $700 to burn you could go to Discovery Cove, SeaWorld's smaller and more intimate baby sister, which features a dolphin encounter.

Universal Studios is not really aimed at young children and I would (at best) save it until she's a few years older.

If you truly have a full day, Kennedy Space Center is a possibility. It's a 75-90 minute drive each way. If you go on Nov 18 or 19 one of the Disney Cruise Line ships will be in port until 5:00 at Port Canaveral, very close to KSC. Worth a small side trip just to gawk at it. On Sundays the huge Royal Caribbean "Mariner of the Seas" is usually there too.

More relaxing: go visit Celebration just south of WDW, and have a nice lunch there. Only a half-day. We've never gotten around to it but would like to.

In the Unofficial Guide to WDW it says that when 4 year olds are asked what their favorite thing about their WDW vacation was, the most popular answer is the swimming pool at their resort. So give that some consideration too.

Thanks erikthewise, those are quite a few things to consider.

My boys loved Green Meadows farm mentioned in one of the previous posts - they were around the age of your child when we went - a petting zoo, a train ride, you get to milk a cow, ride a pony, etc. Check the Orlando attraction guides for a coupon. It's off US192 and out a bit, but worth the short drive. Definitely a nice day after spending busy days at the parks.

We went to Gatorland on our last day just to kill some time before our flight. We really liked it and I wish we would have had more time. Disney it's not, that's for sure. ;) But worth a trip for sure.
