I called Ft. Wilderness and apparently they do not rent RVs anymore but a friend of mine suggested that I could rent an RV from a local Orlando renter and they could bring the RV to Ft. Wilderness and set it up for me.
Has anyone ever done this or know if this is even allowed?
Thoughts / Suggestions?

We just got back from FW and I saw at least 15 rented RV's along my travels in the golf cart. If you are thinking about it, make sure you check around, prices vary greatly between places.

I've seen lots of rented RV's there, too. I can't recall FW renting RV's for many years. Fort Wilderness does rent the cabins, however. These are very nice, too, and come completely equipped.

Here are some local RV rental locations:
El Monte RV (http://www.elmonterv.com/)
Cruise America (http://www.cruiseamerica.com)
USA RV Rentals (http://www.usarvrentals.com/)
GetRV.Com (http://www.getrv.com/search.php?home=1&city=Orlando&state=Florida)
I have never used any of them, so I have no personal knowledge

I checked into rentals, and it seems like it's cheaper to go for the cabins, and immensely more convenient!

I agree, we just got back last month from camping at FW and thought about renting a rv and bring our dog with us next time and after figuring it out between site rental and rv rental it was going to cost us triple then it did renting the cabin.

You might try renting from a private owner vs. renting from a large company.
We plan to rent an RV for our next trip, and have found a couple of private owners that will rent for a reasonable price.
