Walker and Scooter on the airplane

Hi all

I decided it is probably better to bring my walker along with my scooter. Want to keep up my walking as much as I can. :) See pic below of my cool scooter :)

We will be flying South west. Is a walker considered a piece of luggage or a mobility device that does not count.

Also yesterday I got my disabled parking permit so I can now park in MK handicap parking :) and not have to worry about how I get my scooter through the parking lot. :)

Posting this incase there are others like me that need a walker but hate the look of the traditional. I think mine looks sporty and sleek. I call it my chair on wheels.

So if you need one check this out. It is a neXus lll.

A walker is a mobility device and is not counted as luggage or as a carryon.
Depending on the airplane (like whether or not they have closets and how big the overhead compartments are) you may have the choice of doing a gate check for your walker or bringing it on the plane with you.
If the flight attendents give you any hassle, the gate agent should be able/willing to help you.
Your walker is nice. If you have not parked at MK before, you may not be aware of how far the handicapped parking is from the monorail and boat stations (and how steep the ramp to/from the monorail is). If you are staying on site, it is usually better to take the buses/WDW transportation to MK.
if you do drive, you might actually be better parking in the regular lot (let the CMs know you need to park near the tram pick up point) if you are able to step up to board the tram and to hold the walker on the tram.

For the other parks, the handicapped parking is more convenient than MK.

It is a mobility device, of course. Southwest will have no problem...There are no limits on mobility devices or medical equipment in luggage on Southwest.

Just a note, I agree with Sue, if possible use Disney Transport Buses to get to MK, they will drop you off near the gate, whereas driving you have to park in the main lot, walk or ride (in your scooter) under a steep bridge, then transfer to boat or monorail (monorail has steep ramps at both load and unload locations). The buses will accomodate your scooter just fine. For the other parks, we do usually drive and park.
