If you check in at the hotel before your room is ready (say at 9 am or so), will you still get a key or something similar that will allow you FOTL access?

Yes, I believe this is the case!

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that you can checkin early, even if your room isnt ready, then hit the parks with FOTL access!!!
