To make a long story short, we are short on funds and are thinking about camping at FW for our next trip (probably early Jan.) We have 4 kiddos. We have looked at campers for years but would like to rent one first to see how we like it. We have a Suburban, but it would be nice not to have to tow the thing from Texas. I have seen local places that rent TTs and RVs, but do any places in Orlando rent pop-ups? That is probably what we would buy as it is in our budget so we would like to try it. I think we have ruled out the tent idea as it may be cold or wet. Also, last trip ds got sick and he and I spent two days in our room, would have been tough to do in a tent I think.

If you have never used a pop up and camped before, you might consider renting one locally and trying a weekend close to home before committing to this for a Disney vacation. There is a bit of work involved and a definite learning curve before it becomes a comfortable way to vacation. You may also find that by the time you have rented your site at FW and rented the pop up, it costs roughly the same as a value resort. Just a couple of things to consider.

Thanks ftwildernessguy! We are going out looking at campers this weekend, one place in town does rentals, so we will consider the weekend idea. Also, I know what you mean about the cost issue. We would have to get two rooms, and we also thought we could save money fixing a lot of our own food at camp. Still, renting is not that cheap so we need to compare better. I think dh and ds are just thinking that camping would be a lot of fun! We stayed at WL last trip and did some exploring at FW and all the kids thought it would be fun to camp. We have a lot to consider I know!
SORRY.....see below! How did I do that!!

We have a lot to consider I know! Still, I have only seen rates for renting TTs or big RVs, so I would like the know the rental price for pop-ups (if anyone rents them!) I can't really do the math without all of the facts KWIM! Two rooms at a value in Jan. is still about 160$ a night. The campsites start at 39$ at night at that time, so.......
