View Full Version : People swarming the Target aisle - 50% off summer!

06-15-2006, 11:44 AM

I just came from our Target and people were swarming the summer aisle for 50% off summer stuff. It was in the front part of the store, near the food (we have a regular Target) filled two aisles and the back wall. Their Random Acts of Summer series. It was kind of funny - half the people were on cell phones with their spouses - "honey, should I get this and this and this.."

Summer games 50% off -bocce ball, badmitten, etc
Summer floating devices - I got the full size pool float that folds up for 9.99 instead of 19.99, also vests, goggles
Coolers - 56 cans / 42 quarts reg price 24.99; 12.50!
Other stuff - picnic bags, soft coolers, plastic dishes and cups, candles, napkins

Lots of stuff! Have fun!

Thanks, I'll have to check it out!

I was at mine this Am and there was no one shopping lol.

Did anyone else think some of the summer stuff was way over priced to begin with?

I picked up 2 freezer cups with lids for the kids for 2.99. I also got my daughter one of the swim bathing suits with the inflatable things in the checst for 7.50.

I did find baby food for .13 a 2 pack.

what about towels? I liek the summer towels from last year and could use a few more for the beach.

06-15-2006, 01:29 PM
Thanks for the heads up!! I need some more camping items and they have some in the summer stuff I've been eyeing :)

I bought 2 of the frezer gel water bottles, for $3 each. I'd rather wait until the y go to 75%, but there aren't alot left, and I really want them.

I was at our Target this a.m. There weren't that many people cruising the summer section and there was a ton of stuff. I picked up a large cooler on wheels for $12.50.

06-15-2006, 04:17 PM
Whoa! I'll be driving right back there tonight! I was there yesterday and the sale wasn't on. I really want Bocce'! :thanks: :disrocks:

Funny. I was at Target last night looking at the 30% off summer gear. Since there was a lot of stuff left, I asked DW and she agreed that it would probably go to 50% off soon.

So when do you think it will go to 75%? Obviously, it won't be like last year, on July 8

06-15-2006, 09:13 PM
I was there yesterday too, and I went through the whole store. I didn't see anything at 30% off-- so what types of things are 1/2 off now???? I'll be back in that area tomorrow and will stop but what am I looking for???

06-15-2006, 09:27 PM
At our Target they had all the plastic outdoor tableware, patterned paper plates and napkings, folding camp chairs, folding beach chairs, pop-up sunshades (like small tents) for kids at the beach, pool floats, life preservers, some of the pool toys, outdoor candles, picnic sets, coolers, strings of outdoor lights, sleeping bags, basically everything that was labeled "Random Acts of Summer" was 50% off. Hope this helps.

My Target here in Chattanooga had lots of towels for $7.50 (reg. 14.99) Not to bad. They were pretty thick, too.

I found sleeping bags marked down to $12.50 which is great b/c we needed some for a campout my sons are going to next weekend. We're not big camping people, so I didn't want to pay too much for them.

Thanks for the notice.

Those looking for nice beach towels should check out your local Disney Stores -- we have the big thick character towels on sale for $7.99! :)

06-15-2006, 10:57 PM
we just got back :teeth: we bought a PINK cooler on wheels!! woohoo!! picnic here we come!!!

06-16-2006, 07:08 AM
I need their patio furniture to go on sale. I was there last week and the outdoor bench I so desperately want was still full price. :guilty:

06-16-2006, 07:32 AM
I can't believe they're doing that with summer stuff already! I was at a clothing store yesterday, and they had almost all their capris in the clearance section. For heavens sake, where I am we have at least 2.5 more months of scorching days, and goodness knows September is usually 90's as well. Nothing funnier then the fact that you can find a bathing suit in February but it's slim pickins' in August ;)

I guess this means back to school products are going up soon

06-16-2006, 07:47 AM
I don't understand why peopl grab it at 30 or 50%. They don't realize that it will go down to 90%!!!

I grabbed it a 50% because i am having 16 people over for father's day on Sunday. grapped all the paper products plus i got 2 of the metal buckets that you put ice and drinks in and two large serving trays plus a set up 2 red and green checkered baskets. What i liked was that i can use it all at christmas as well!

06-16-2006, 08:55 AM
I don't have a problem paying 50% for something I will use. For the "extra stuff", I would wait until 75%.

Lori P. :)

06-16-2006, 09:26 AM
My store didn't have a whole lot left, so I wasn't taking my chances for the stuff I really wanted!

06-16-2006, 10:49 AM
I don't understand why peopl grab it at 30 or 50%. They don't realize that it will go down to 90%!!!

that's my sentiment as well, except at our store very few things ever see 90% it's terribly frustrating.

I went this morning, to see what was left... and there's not much. People were calling friends, grabbing whatever they could. crazy.

I got 2 inflatable pool floats, and 2 of the bright colored children's ponchos. the last 2 of each. I'm hopeful that the portable hammocks will still be around at 75% off because there were several of them.

I asked one of the stock people why it went 50% earlier than years past and she told me they have a TON of stuff to set the week of July 4 and need the space. She did not know when the 75% off mark down date is.

06-16-2006, 12:37 PM
My target was still on 30%. :confused3 I even scanned a few items to be sure.

06-16-2006, 01:00 PM
I bought 4 propane cans for my camp stove. They were 2.50 for 2 (50% off). I would have waited for a lower price but I'm slowly putting together my hurricane preparedness kit! :) :)

In addition to all of their summer stuff, they also had the rolling hard-sided luggage (pink and blue) and rolling duffles for 50% off.

06-16-2006, 01:25 PM
I got 2 kids sleeping bags, an air mattress, and a croquet set for 50% off.

06-16-2006, 01:42 PM
I live in TX and you have to get it at 50% or you will not get it. I am going tonight!

06-16-2006, 01:54 PM
I was there today and refrained from buying anything. I was awfully tempted but it seemed like 50% off wasn't low enough for me...some of the prices seemed awfully high to start with! There wasn't an enormous amount of stuff left, but there also wasn't a huge crowd buying it all up either. Maybe I'll go back and check when it's 75-90% off :confused3

06-16-2006, 02:27 PM
I hit my closest Target today and picked up a few things, not too much - one of those rectangular can cooler things, a set of red plastic bowls to match my patio plates, and a small pink suitcase for my daughter's hair bows and things. Oh, I also picked up a coleman co-branded camp stove - it was the last one on the shelf and I grabbed it just in case my husband would find it useful for our camping trips this summer. He's pretty picky about his gear but didn't want to chance that he'd be interested in seeing it and having it be gone.

06-16-2006, 05:04 PM
I ended up getting 2 pool floats for $4.98 each, and a citronella jar type candle for $3.49.

06-16-2006, 05:11 PM
The towels at my Targer were $7.50. They were cute, but I will wait and see if they go to 75 percent off.

06-17-2006, 08:28 AM
Went in for paper plates and $127.00 later left the store...I am not an impluse shopper but DH and DS and Gr,-kids leaving on camping trip the next day...so i got lots of stuff....now this is as the other poster stated "Random Acts of Summer" merchandise...very colorful..purples and pinks and dark blue and red....got the rolling cooler,2 sleeping bags(adults) folding chairs, propane stove, propane refills, inflatable queen bed, and so on....DD was also having 5 girls and Gr-daughter for sleep over in the tent last night...I opted for the dark blues and red colors....I will keep a watch out for 75% off since Target is so close......

06-17-2006, 10:12 AM
I hope someone does keep us informed when it goes to 75% off. I don't need anything at 50% but at 75% I might just need it :thumbsup2

06-17-2006, 10:42 AM
Just there this morning all that stuff is now 75% off and going fast! I got great beach towels for 3.74!

06-17-2006, 11:30 AM
75% at our store too. Not much left and we got there at 9:00. Does anyone know when it will be 90%?

06-17-2006, 11:52 AM

was it marked 75% off? I didn't even think to scan when I was in Target this morning-- everything still looked the same as it did yesterday on the shelves, so I assumed it was still 75% off. I'll be kicking myself if things are scanning 75% off....

06-17-2006, 01:22 PM
Yes, it was marked 75% off.

06-17-2006, 01:39 PM
Yes, it was marked 75% off.

I went back to Target a little while ago, needed some anti-itch meds for my son's poison ivy (hey... a girl's got to have a reason to go to Target, right? ;) ) and ours is still 50% off. Even less left than there was a few hours earlier.

06-17-2006, 02:04 PM
The Target I went to, was marked 75% off.

06-17-2006, 02:47 PM
I just walked in from Target. The Rochester Hills, Michigan store is still 50% off. I was really hoping for 75%!

06-17-2006, 03:08 PM
Today I got 2 (one 4 person and one 2 person)tents, 4 sleeping bags, 4 water bottles, 2 softsided coolers, 2 airmattresses, a picnic set with plates etc in it, a Bocce ball set for $74.12, we had been looking at a larger tent the other day for $79, now the kids have their own and so do hubby and I!!!!
:cool1: I'm so excited! There wasn't much left though.

06-18-2006, 01:35 AM
I was in one in columbia sc first thing thing this morning, and everything had just went 75% off. They had lots of great things, tents, sleeping bag, grilling stuff, chairs, bags, etc....

I just walked in from Target. The Rochester Hills, Michigan store is still 50% off. I was really hoping for 75%!

I was born in Rochester and lived there till I was 12. My brother still lives in Lake Orion, but I don't get up there much anymore.

Anyway, I went this morning and it was 75% off. I got the cute kids chair and some of the adult chairs that match. I got so much stuff I filled up the cart in about 10 minutes. It was so full I had to put the beverage buckets on my daughter's head....she of course thought it was hilarious!
