Fort Wilderness Cabin or WDW Hilton

We are heading to Disney for 4 nights with 3 kids (6, 3, 1) and grandmother. We are thinking about staying in the Fort Wilderness cabin, but trying to decide if the Hilton would be more comfortable. We have Hilton Honors and always get upgrades and perks - would this be a better choice? How are the accom at Fort Wilderness? Which would you choose? Going first week in November 2006.

whether you're a "hotel" kinda family or "cabin" kinda family. Personally, I LOVE the cabins -- nice little kitchen and some extra space -- Living room with a pull-down wall bed and a separate bedroom with a double or queen sized (not sure which) and a set of bunks. The whole FW ambience is so peaceful and family oriented too.
On the other hand, if you'd prefer room service, rapid access to fax machines, etc. -- maybe the Hilton is the way to go.
On the Camping @ Walt Disneyworld board, there is a TON of info on the cabins.

The extra space in the cabins is very nice. However, we found transportation and dining to be problematic there. We think it's very hard to stay there without renting a golf cart, which adds at least $50 per day to the cost. Then, the only dining available is the Trail's End buffet or pizza. We didn't want to buy the buffet regularly with 5-year old twins who wouldn't eat more than one chicken nugget at any meal. And, pizza had to be taken out. We couldn't eat it in the restaurant.

Between the difficult transporation issues and the lack of dining options, we concluded we're hotel people rather than cabin people.

Staying on Disney property is always best. I say go with the cabins. The extra perks are worth it. Fort Wilderness is right in the middle of the action. Boat to the MK or Monarail. The kids will love it. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I would vote for the cabin too. Would you get two rooms at the Hilton? IF so that might be ok. Otherwise that many people all in one room would drive me nuts. Lots of space in the cabins. You have a kitchen which makes small meals and snack convenient with the little ones too. And the kids can run around outside. Transportation could be a pain with kids that young though since you have to take two busses everywhere unless you have a golf cart.

I would definitely stay at the cabins ... nothing like approaching the MK via the boat launch from the FW marina!
