Given the new carry on regulations, would someone driving or renting a car be willing to purchase a bottle of liquor for us in Orlando? I'd be willing to send you the money ahead of time (paypal or a check, your preference) if you're worried about reimbursement. Feel free to PM me.

Hi everyone -- nearing the end of my week from heck...i've been working 12 hour days for going on..uhh...14 days now (straight, including weekends). I'm tired. :surfweb:
Just wanted to pop in...this whole trip is a celebration for us...my birthday (Oct 25), DH's belated birthday (was in Feb), and our 4th anniversary (was in June). We'll celebrate something different on each day for three days! And then we'll just celebrate being able to spend some quality time together, which doesn't happen often since we work opposite shifts and only see each other every other weekend.
Ok, time to finish catching up! Catch y'all later!

Getting close now, and I must say I am getting more and more excited. Been reading the Unofficial Guide and that's helped a lot.
So, for another question -
It seems like every new trip to Disney, there is something new to experience or look forward to, or an old favorite to go back to. So, what is everyone looking forward to most about going back?
- Expedition Everest - I'm sure as at the top of everyone's list
- New Pirates referb - I still dont think the ride needed changing, but I am anxious to see how it works
- Buzz's Spaceranger Spin - the only ride at Walt Disney World I have never ridden
- Test Track - this one I have only ever ridden once (on my last trip) and it closed for rehap the next day, so this is almost like a new experience for me
And of course, my old favorite, Splash Mountain, which will be the first thing I ride when I get to the world.

We have not been back since last Sept, so EE is top of the list.
The Living Seas and Turtle TAlk with Crush was in rehab (that doesn't quite sound right), so that's number 2.
The riverboat @ MK should be back on line Sept 8th so thats my hat trick.

Or, since I'm dreaming, I would wish to be hired into my dream job at Disney (somewhere in HR). :cloud9:

Have to be honest, have not read the whole thread but am intigued - at POP from Sept 29 - Oct 11 then going to HRH until the 15th (first Universal trip), As yiou can see DH 40th birthday trip, first time staying at POP. We have DS 12, DD 10. Our big quandry right now is Halloween costumes - we will be doing both MSSHP and SW Halloween and the boy's are doing HHN (no costumes allowed). The planning is so much fuh :teeth:

Hey guys. If I could have any Disney wish, I would want to be able to sit down, one on one, with an imagineer and have any and all of my questions that I could think of answered.
An unrealistic wish, of course, would be to have Epcot reverted to exactly the way it was in 1984, or at the very least, to bring back the original version of Journey Into Imagination.
Oh well, wishful thinking...
iwynlea
08-25-2006, 09:29 AM
BTown, they used to have a program at MGM (I think) that was "lunch with an Imagineer." I'm not sure if they're still doing it, and I think it was pretty expensive (maybe $150 per person?), but it might be worth looking into to make your wish a reality! :thumbsup2

I had two surprises in the last 24 hours, both of which are for our trip in 35 days! Whoo!!
The seamstress who is making my Belle dress for MNSSHP mailed it to me, and I finally received it yesterday! It's sort of the "first fitting" so it's not done yet, but oh, it's so lovely!! I couldn't wait to get it out of the box and hang it up...I couldn't hardly sleep last night waiting to try it on (DH had to work last night, so no one to help me get it zipped up). I can't wait until it's completely finished...I'll try to get some pictures of it and post tomorrow.
Then, when I finally rolled out of bed (after getting up when DH came home to try on the dress) about 11am (yes, I'm a late sleeper), there was another package on my front doorstep! The pins I ordered on Monday from Disneyshopping.com are here -- $120 worth of pins from their semi-annual sale (about 80 pins), so now I have a bunch of new pins to trade when we go!
I wish it would hurry up and get here, but I have SOOO much to finish before then! Need to clean up the house, pack, finish DH costume, finalize touring plan, create list of characters & locations & times (already started)....guess I should stop reading and start moving!
Talk later!

sounds like thr magic had started your way.... how I wish someone can make me an adult JoJo costume.... :confused3 I know I know I should leave it for the kids.. but am not the princess type... size wise and Jojo is so adorable, fell in love with lat year when I saw it. The previous MNSSHP we have dressed up but this year we are just going to watch... just matching shirts for the family.... :wave2:

There's nothing wrong with matching shirts, ANTS! :thumbsup2 Before I found my seamstress, that's what we were going to do...because although I can sew basic things, the Belle dress is waaaaay beyond my skill level. (As soon as DH gets out of bed - had to work again last night - I'll have him take some pictures of it. :teeth: ) I'm going to be sooooooo warm, though....we'll see how long I last before melting at MNSSHP...hopefully long enough to have a picture of me as Belle with Belle!
DH and I already decided to bring a change of clothes and stash them in a locker, just in case. We've got our standby outfits ready...pirates (i.e. dark shorts, white shirts, and a red/white striped sash...very simple, and no additional cost...we already everything we need here!).

Timmy we were gong to wear matching shirts, but since my friend Bonnie decided to come she is making us costumes (6 in all). If you lived closer she would probably make you a Jo-Jo, she makes about a dozen or so costumes every Halloween. Last year she made Jeanne for a neighbor. It came out really good. She loves to sew and only charges for the material.
Last year she made Stacey a fairy, after I paid for the material she kept adding extras and didn't charge. It cost about $20. I will have to find a picture for you.

Pack once.
Go on vacation.
Come home.
Wash vacation clothes.
Dry vacation clothes.
Repack vacation clothes.
Go about normal daily routine until next vacation.
Just before next vacation, pack carry-ons.
Repeat as needed.
We have DS 12, DD 10. Our big quandry right now is Halloween costumes - we will be doing both MSSHP and SW Halloween and the boy's are doing HHN (no costumes allowed). In ALL seriousness, you might want to rethiink HHN. Even if it's not restricted to sixteen+, it's highly unrecommended for visitors below that age. Have you asked about it on the Universal boards? I'm not saying don't let them go, but check it out well first.
BTown, they used to have a program at MGM (I think) that was "lunch with an Imagineer." I'm not sure if they're still doing it, and I think it was pretty expensive (maybe $150 per person?), but it might be worth looking into to make your wish a reality! Yes, they do - and it's not "that" expensive, a mere $75 or so. Lunch only, reservations can be made 30 days in advance, meal is at Brown Derby and you get an autographed (by your Imagineer) plate as a souvenir. No, I haven't done it but I'm thinking about it...

I've recently become hooked on Eureka! & DH and I both love Ghost Hunters. I loved the first season of Lost, but worked alot of late hours during the second season. So, I didn't see one episode of that. But, my friend is going to buy the second season and she promised to loan it to me. :woohoo:

AGREED! we need a new question!!!!!!!!
What's your MUST NOT MISS TV show??
EEK! We have one for each night of the week... but tops are:
House - which we have missed the last two weeks! Can't get used to it's new time!
Nip/Tuck or Rescue Me depending on the season
Sopranos - one season every five years it seems!
Grey's Anatomy
Desperate Housewives
Without a Trace

Hey guys! Long time. Been out of town for a bit, so I havent been keeping good track of these boards, good to see they are still alive and well. I can't believe we are inside the 20 day mark now. 18 days for me, and even less for a lot of you guys.
DH and I both love Ghost Hunters
I've never seen this show, but Labor Day weekend I was at DragonCon, in Atlanta (I know, I am such a nerd) and the guys from this show were there. I sat in on a panal about Ghost Hunting, though, still not entirely convinced that there are any real ghosts (outside of the Haunted Mansion of course).
So far as my favorite show, Lost takes the cake. I don't have any dinner ADR's planned for Wednesday, 4 Oct, because I will be back in my room, watching the season premiere, Disney can wait. I just picked up the season 2 DVDs, and I thin re-watching the episodes is what is going to get me through these next two weeks before our trip. My other favorite shows are Firefly (canceled) and South Park (probably the funniest, most clever show I have ever seen).
I have a question for you guys, how many of you have been fortunate enough to see Disney's Song of the South, and those that havent, is it something you'd want to see?
Hope all is well, take care!

Song of the South is the film on which Splash Mountain is based and tales the stories of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear. It's a mixture of live action and animation. The film was made in 1946, was released a couple of times theatrically (1986 being the last year it was theatrically released) and has never been made available commercially on video or DVD. The film takes place in the pre-civil war south and the main character, Uncle Remus, is a slave that entertains the plantation owner's grand children with the stories of Brer Rabbit. Disney has decided not to make this film commercially available due to the nature of the content and the way the film depicts slavery.
Well, that's the short answer. I try not to get too long winded on subject that other people may not find terribly interesting.
But, I absolutely love this movie, and I think its a shame that Disney won't release it to the public. So, I was just trying to see if anyone had seen it, and wanted to see what you guys think about it.

We (DA-Carol, DB-Mike, DC-Christopher and me Christine) are going to be at the POP 9/29 to 10/7.
I have been the planning maniac for months now. I have changed dining reservations about 15 times! I presented all the dining options to my family months ago and asked for input. Everyone said whatever I did would be o.k. with them. Until last night, my brother decided to review our trip itinerary! Well, he calls me with suggested changes. Of course I tell him I asked for his input months ago and it would be very hard to change reservations at this point with all the free diners out there!! I was able to make one change only. Mind you my brother has logged in many trips to WDW and knows much about the world, but where was his enthusiasm two months ago? Argh!!!
I am o.k. about it now, just happy to share my excitement with someone else besides my beloved dis'ers.
I do plan on picking up my Mickey heads from Home Depot. I think this is really neat. I do look forward to meeting my fellow dis'ers at the World.
Only 16 days, 22 hours, 49minutes, 40 seconds to go!!!!
Have a magical day everyone!

My mom took me to see Song of the South in the theater, it must have been on it's last release, so if you say 1986, that must be it. I would have been 8 years old. I remember really liking it, but I can also understand not wanting to release it...I think it would be a nice Disney Treasure, with some commentary to put it all in perspective.
Anyway, my fav TV shows....Grey's Anatomy (got hooked this summer..amazing show!) and Eureka on Sci-Fi. I'm trying not to watch as much TV as I used to...I have too much else I want to get done when I get home! :goodvibes

Song of the South is one of my favorites. I have it on video. It's a copy of a copy that a friend of mine got when it was released in another country. (I don't remember which country, I haven't watched it in a couple years. ) It's in english but it has foriegn language subtitles...Japanese, I think. I don't know, I'd have to watch it again. It's not great quality, but definately watchable. :thumbsup2

We did CRT for lunch about two years ago, and Cinderella was in the lobby area doing pictures. So I'm a little behind on this thread... but here's me!
Chanon (28) Lover of all things Disney. Been to the World about 6 times since 2001. First adult vacation was in 2001 with DBF AND his first vacation ever!
Bob (34) Puts up with my Disney Obession and still loves me. Never likes taking vacation, would rather cash it in for the money. Go figure!
This year we are spending 9 days (9/30 to 10/8) at Disney (at POP of course!) but the catch that he applied was to spend two days at Universal (which is fine with me) and to make sure we do HHN's there. He's a Horror fanatic...
Favorite rides: Space Mountain for him, Tower of Terror for me. I just love the theming!
Favorite restaurants: Mama Melrose for me, Crystal Palace for him. (I think it's just because Piglet was hitting on him the last time we went...)
First time staying at Pop for us, but I've stayed at Coranado, Boardwalk, All Star Sports, POFQ. This year we'll be at Pop, then I'll get to stay at AKL for work a few weeks later. My goal is to stay at all the resorts at least once, but who's goal isn't that?!
We are in NE Ohio, between Cleveland and Akron.
I think that about covers it, given that I just skimmed the thread...there's no way to catch up on this thing!
Wanting vacation to be here NOW, but then the realization that it'll be almost over arrives, so I'm trying to be patient and enjoy the suspense. :teeth:
Hoping that the bill that Bob got last month from Kay Jewelers will include something special on the day we head to the Magic Kingdom. :confused3 Who knows! After 6 years...I'm ready!

For me:
The American Adventure - havent seen it since I was a kid
Universe of Energy - Havent been on this one since they changed it.

Popeyes rocks. Sorry to hear you guys don't have any up there. Down here (Louisiana), you can stand outside and throw a rock in just about any direction and hit a Popeyes. Of course, that is to be expected since Popeyes originated here.

Those things are the best. I remember my dad coming home with them after a late night shift for my mom. (they were three for a buck back then) I was always so excited to see them in the fridge the next day. That "cheese" is so good cold! We have not had a Jack in the Box up here in probably over 20years. BUT, I did manage to get a few and bring them home to mom when I visited TEXAS in 1995!!!!!!!! It's been awhile since the taste of a great taco like that for that price. (we have a small roast beef place that does them almost exactly the same, but they are small and cost 1.45 each. I am cheap... I would need ten of them to be filled!!!! So, I don't get them often) boo hoo

We always open MK, dance at Main Street and head to Splash Mountain then walk some more and head to CP for brunch. Then the rest of my tribe wonder around while I eat my 3 scopes of ice cream right in front of the castle in between taking pictures for thos familes and couple who wants a group picture... crazy huh!

I tour MK different every time, but the weird thing is, I always save Tomorrowland for last. I think it has something to do from when I was a kid, I thought it was the coolest place, so I would always save it last so I could spend more time there. Usually I head to Splash Mountain first, then BTMRR, then back to Adventure Land, then on the Liberty Square, Fantasyland, if I am lucky I can bypass Mickey's Toon Town Fair all together, and then Tomorrowland. Something to that effect.

Sadly, I am (I told myself I would quite once I graduated, and I have been a graduate officially for over a month now, and I'm still doing it) and when alcohol is involved, I'll definatly want a cigarette. Of course, I understand no one wants to be around a bunch of cigarette smoke, so I always make a point to go off somewhere so it wont bother anyone, but just wondering if I'll be the only one doing this?

You smoke menthol ?? she does and when you are ready to quit PM me I will get you some of those peppermint bark candy by Restoration Store that are the same lenght of a cigarette, this really got her through!

Thanks ANTSS for the encouragement. Sadly, I managed to quit smoking for over two months this summer. But during those two months, I was taking 9 hours in the second summer term trying to graduate. By finals week, I was smoking again.
Just when I think I am out, they pull me back in...
I know I can do it, but it won't be before vacation. I dont want to be all grumpy when I am at the happiest place on earth.

How do you tour MK?
Clockwise or counter clockwise or are you all over the map?
and where do you start?
We usually start in Tomorrowland, I like to end up in Adventureland 'cause it's my favorite. Last year we started in Fantasyland, & still had to wait in line for an hour to ride Dumbo. :guilty: This year POTC is first, & probably last too!!! pirate:

I'm soooo glad my DD is over Dora, Bear in the Big Blue House, MO-MO (Elmo :goodvibes ), & Doodlebops. It's all about Lizzy, Raven & Hannah Montana now, though. And she loves POTC, but I think I may have influenced that a little. pirate:

Um Hey Tennessee, you think you can have more than two lanes IN A MAJOR CITY LIKE CHATANOOGA!!!!
HONK HONK HONK!!!! Well kids, when the driving starts to REALLY get bad, you know you've hit Kennesaw.
AND THAT OLD SWEET SONG, KEEPS GEORGIA ON MY MIND. Well that and it really is long. I bet the guy that wrote that never set foot in Tifton.!
Don't eat too much. Kids. Save some room for Chef Mickey's!!!
OH LOOK, IT'S I-10!!!! THE MOST EXCITING THING FOR 100 MILES EACH DIRECTION!!!!.
You mean THIS is where UF is? No wonder their football games are packed.
Will Florida EVER finish construction on this dang turnpike?
DISNEY AT LAST, DISNEY AT LAST!!! Let's hit the pool!!!
I hope the only love bug I see is Herbie.

Hope you had a wonderful time. Sorry we didn't make it to the meet on the 29th. We could not find a room on property, so we drove out to the airport and got something close, because our flight was at noon, and that is EARLY for us to get out and going to the airport for 10! :thumbsup2
