I am looking for a good small digital camera to take to disney. I have a rebel xt and canon s1 is, but I am scared to bring those in the park since it is only me and my husband and we will be riding rides. Any ideas.

don't know what you want to spend but the canon a620 has according to Kelly ( and i believe her :thumbsup2 ) the same sensor and chip ( hope i got that right) as the s2/3...my daughter has the a620 and the pictures are very good. hers is 7mp but the 610 is 5 and about $200 ( 7mp was about 220 when i bought it a few weeks ago) it's pants pocket sized ( husband could get it in his shirt pocket but it wouldn't have been really secure in there ie on a ride)

warning my brain is slow and i might have the wrong mp for the wrong camera number but the 5 mp is $200, the 7 mp $220

:rotfl: since i have recommended this probably 1/2 a dozen times i don't get a kick back but i was impressed by the picture quality for a reasonably priced camera

i also saw a small flat 10x zoom canon on the website for canon that was round $400 that would be pocket sized but that's all i know about that one

Don't be scared bringing a dSLR to the park. I brought (all at the sme time) Canon A95 (which is the same with A80 and A620) and Canon Digital Rebel + battery grip + Sigma 18-125 and took them all on the all the rides (except RnR) with no problem whatsoever.

I would just take the S1. The S1 now sells on ebay for under $200, I would not buy a $150(or more) camera to protect the S1. Yes it is still a great camera but it is over 2 generations old, if something happens to it you could replace it with the S3 later on.

Jann, a little correction. A80/A95 shares the same chip and sensor, A620/S2 shares the same chip and sensor, A700/S3 shares the same chip and sensor ;)

My S1 has been on every ride at WDW except Everest and that is just because I have not had the chance to go on it yet. I keep mine in a case so it does not get banged around.

I second Kelly's motion, Canon's A series is nice but I have taken my SLR on every ride except Mission Ralph (I don't plan to ride it) and Kali River (it goes there, but in a waterproof bag).
I just wrap the strap around my wrist twice and go for the ride. That's how I got the photo on SPace Mountain!

Another one to say take one of your current cameras! We just returned from a May trip to WDW and my Rebel XT rode on everything, including RnRC. If you don't want to carry the Rebel, take your S1.

Take the dSLR. I'm going to take a 30D with me when I go. Can't pass up all those great photo ops.

oh, btw, not taking to Disney yet, but for the past several weeks I took my 30D with battery grip + 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens with lens collar and took it on rides. Yes, I only spend about 4 hours max each day, but that's because of my allergy against UV not due to the weight.

Jann, a little correction. A80/A95 shares the same chip and sensor, A620/S2 shares the same chip and sensor, A700/S3 shares the same chip and sensor ;)

ooppps sorry didn't mean to misquote you ( although now i do remember from my s3 research it is a new setup than the s2 cause some felt it didn't change the pictures much)
if i was a politician i could say i misspoke myself :teeth:
