There is a thread on the budget board and I would say most gave it 2 thumbs up. We went(12,8,3 year olds) and my 2 oldest loved it. My 3 year old loved the beginning....then the middle not so much- started losing interest about 45 minutes in- and then loved the end. I think the story line was a little over his head(saving the town.....ect.)But that being said, as soon as we got out he wanted to go buy a Mater.

We went yesterday. My DH and I loved it. It was good. My son is 2 and it was his first movie experience. We made it through the movie, but I can't say he truely enjoyed it. He watched the beginning and the end. The rest of the time he was looking around. He seemed to be more impressed with the projection in the back of the theater.

We took our kids to see it yesterday. They got a little bored in the middle also, but DH and I enjoyed it! Make sure you stay for the credits!

We saw it Saturday and loved it! But I must admit that it didn't always keep the attention of my 6 year old. My 10 year old who didn't even want to go LOVED it!

Parents loved it.

Saw it yesterday---my 46 year old LOVED it, my 6 year old lost interest about an hour and a half into the movie (it's TWO hours long!) wheras most childrens movies seem to be 1 1/2 hours. It's a cute movie, but I think it's a little "fast moving" for small children. Even after all these years, I still can't find a movie I like as much as the Toy Storys----Nemo is close though. Enjoy if you do go see it!!

Our 4 and 7 yr old loved it, but said it was a bit long. (the grownups liked it also) Very cute movie. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD.

We went on Sat. Took our 4 and 6 1/2 yr old and we all loved it! Thought is was great(funny, good story and cgi). After reading other's reviews I realized that I knew it felt longer than other kid movies. While we were watching for the very ending of the movie(after the credits) my 6 yr old was asking to see it again.

We loved it. My 10 yo said it was fantastic. We liked it so much that we went the next day to see it again. I like the fact that they didn't have a 100 songs in the movie and make the characters into a music video (Shrek series movies). I did like the fact that they gave us a good story line with strong characters and great voices (Owen, Paul, Bonnie, John, Larry, Cheech, George) - they brought the characters depth and realism.

The animation was amazing. I also liked the humor in it and the plot.

Lots of little ones in the theatre on our second night and all the kids were clapping during the exciting scenes. One person in front of me had many belly laughs.

Stay for the credits!

We went with our DD, 6, and to be honest, neither my wife or I were expecting much. Our DD actually had no interest in it until a little while ago and the trailers for it didn't make it seem worth watching.

What a great movie! My DW and I were both surprised and what a fantastic movie it is and our DD is now trying to collect everything Cars related. The movie moves quickly for a two hour show and has great plot development with lots of "IMPORTANT LESSONS" that are presented to the kids without too much preachiness.

And, definitely stay for the credits. Actually, not just the credits but stay all the way to the very end. There's a treat waiting at the extreme end of the movie, too.

We took our niece(2), nephews(3 and 9), Goddaughter (3) and Godson (7) to see it yesterday. They all pretty much watched it the whole way through except for the little ones. The adults, especially my dad, me and my husband all LOVED it! Of course the DH has wanted to see it since the first time he saw the previews! We will definitely be getting it on DVD as SOON as it comes out. Went to Wal-Mart after the movie, and had to buy DH and toy Mater!

We went yesterday with the the kids and grandparents.

I liked it, the kids have decided it was the best Pixar movie they've seen yet. We tried something new, Amélie will be two in a week and we let her sit in a big girl seat instead of the stroller to watch the movie. She did great! She loved it! She got up and wiggled a bit for the last ten minutes or so, but she was happy as heck the rest of the time. I thought it was far better than the Incredibles! There was some really funny stuff in it - we were all giggling like crazy! :rotfl:

I took my 4.5 year old this weekend, and he enjoyed it. It did get a little long, but it was so well done that it was worth it.

I asked my 4-year-old. She said it was too long, the story was good, and she really liked Mater the best (if you don't already know, that's Larry the Cable Guy). She did think it was funny, but some of the jokes, while funny, also were a little above her head. Example: "I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park."

Also, I don't know if the deal is still on, but last week you could get a free movie pass from Toys R Us if you spent $20 in Cars toys.

I agree with everyone else. DH, DS5 and I went on Saturday and while we enjoyed it very much, it was a little long and DS lost some interest. I will buy it when it comes out on DVD and have recommended it to other families with older kids.

We took our two-year old son to see it. :3dglasses It was his first movie, a true one for the baby book moment. He loved it! Even at two he sat through the whole movie. We the adults liked the movie too. Its a positive messaging type of movie. DS loves cars so he was in heaven :cloud9: I only saw maybe a total of two meltdowns from other kids. It was an awesome first experience for our family. :thumbsup2

Most fun movie we've seen in years! We are grandparents, and 6/9 was our 33rd wedding anniversary. DH asked me what I wanted to do - and I said just take me to see Cars :goodvibes It has enough adult references to keep us entertained - but the characters are so endearing that the little ones are intrigued. There were little ones - 1-2 yrs old who didn't make a peep the whole movie. Our DD & DSiL took DGrD who is 4 yrs old to see it yesterday- they said she was mesmerized during the entire movie. She didn't want to leave even after watching the credits at the end. Woke up this morning asking if they could go see Cars again. Don't miss this one :wizard:

Our family went and we all enjoyed it. :cheer2:

My DH 43 has been quoting some of the lines around the house. He was also impressed with all the well-known people who had roles in it.
My DS 9 loved it! But wished there were more slap stick, funny parts!
My DD 3 loved it! She already knew the characters from the trailers and keep asking to see it. She just got just a bit restless in the middle with the slower music.

Myself -- enjoyed it. The graphics alone were great and then the jokes were fun!

I just wish Disney would wise up and realize that the better films Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, etc., do not have sound tracks with long slow songs. Why can't they make a few more movies for pure laughs and action!

We saw it this weekend! DH and I loved it and thought it was very well done. My DD, 3 almost 4, liked the beginning, fell asleep in the middle, and loved the ending. I do think the plot and dialogue were a bit over her head, especially towards the middle of the movie. She does talk about the movie though and who her favorite character is, etc. Older kids around us in the theater seemed to be getting the jokes and stuff a bit more. I would say go see it if you are interested in it too!

We saw it this afternoon. My DS enjoyed the beginning but got so bored in the middle he just wanted to leave and not stay for the rest. Ironically, as soon as we got home he put on Toy Story 2 and sat through all of that, lol. But to tell you the truth, I didn't really enjoy the movie that much, although maybe I would have more if we'd seen in through to the end. But while there was great action scenes early in the movie, there just weren't the characters to pull you in right away like the better Pixar movies.

We loved it! Out of our group of 6 only one was the "target age" (my 3 y/o ds). Yet we adults LOL, and all want to see it at the drive-in this weekend.

As far as my 3 year old ds... no full feature movie has captured his imagination like Cars.

I give it... :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I loved it, not as much as The Incredibles, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. And by all means, stay for the closing credits until the very end. They're worth the price of admission alone. I will say that the story in this film will not make sense to little kids, but they'll like the cars. The story is more aimed at adults and they'll appreciate the message of the film.

I took DH, DS19 and DD13 this afternoon to see "Cars". I was very pleasantly surprised--i didn't think this movie would be very good, but it was great! The animation is near photographic. And Mater, the tow truck...let's just say, that's my baby brother in rust. When he started the tractor tipping I thought I would wet my pants :lmao:

My WHOLE family went last Sunday. (by whole I mean parents, 2 sis, 2 BIL, a four year old and 2 two year olds) We all really enjoyed it. The youngest two lost interest a bit in the middle but then loved the end. My Dad is now collecting the toys from McDonalds and can't wait for the DVD.

We saw it today and LOVED it! I'm sure that we'll buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD. My 3 year old and 6 year old sat through the whole thing.

The story line was partially remniscent of the Michael J. Fox movie, "Doc Hollywood". :lmao:

My only gripe about the movie was some of the language. I don't know why it is necessary to say "idiot", "moron", and "dumb" throughout a Rated G movie. And the word "hell" was even said twice. :sad2:

Took my DD5 to see it, at her request. popcorn:: Starts out with a bang, :moped: but then gets really slow for a LONG time, :hourglass then ends with a bang. :moped: She lost interest around the hour and 15 minute mark. It was quite long. I thought it was ok to good, closer to good, but definently not one of my favorites.

We saw it yesterday afternoon. My DW thought it was better than The Incredibles (but she admitted that she doesn't really like violence). She prefers the Toy Story movies and Monster's Inc.

I thougt it was excellent, although I preferred The Incredibles (see, I do enjoy violence, especially when done by superheroes, but that's me). The attention to details is astounding. About half way through, I agreed with the critics who complained that there's nothing intrinsically warm or fuzzy about cars, but I noticed that I was hooked by the final race, actually rooting for Lightning.

DD6 says she loved it. However, like so many other posters said, her interest flagged in the middle. I don't think it's a movie for really young kids, who might find it a bit plot heavy.

But, man, is it beautiful.

DH and I went on Sunday. We both absolutely loved Cars!! I even put the Lightning McQueen red car on my computer's wallpaper. I thought it was the cutest movie.

Great job Pixar. :thumbsup2

My DD4 didn't like it, and she and I left the movie about 90 minutes into it. It's really long for a kids' film and sort of slow moving. Plus, I know she had no clue about the town dying and all that.

My two DS liked it, but they still prefer Toy Story and Incredibles. It's mediocre in my opinion, certainly not one of Pixar's best.

Love Cars. Great storyline, wonderful animation (duh, Pixar) and a superb screenplay. Hard to believe Pixar made a movie with that many stereotypes in it, but we thought it was hysterical.

My wife and I will go back (without the kids) since there was so much witty banter and fast paced humor that I know we'll pick up more. Way over the kids heads.

Loads of excellent behind the scenes stuff - The King voiced by "The King". Mrs. The King voiced by "The King's" wife. Brilliant. Loved Darryl Cartrip. He just played hisself <sic>.

If you do go see it again, check out the gesture Guido (the forklift from the tire shop) gives to Chick Hicks' crew. Priceless.

And the scenes during the credits was some of the best comedy in years.

We actually got to see the movie "at sea" aboard the Wonder on it's release date. VERY COOL! They showed the movie at 12:01 a.m. the day it released but we opted for an afternoon viewing on PremEAR day! Really cool movie . . . everyone loved it especially my nephew (age 7). He was so stoked to be able to see it while we were on a big family cruise vacation. Even the grandparents enjoyed it!

My 30year old kid (DH) took me to see it on our date night. The trailers don't do it justice. Both of us were laughing so hard throughout the whole thing. :rotfl2: :lmao: I agree it is a little longer than most of the previous Disney/ Pixar films. We will definately be puting this on our 'must buy' list when it comes out on DVD.

Went to see it last night at the drive-in with our 3-1/2 DD. Keep in mind the actual movie didn't start until 10 PM. DD watched the whole thing and loved it! She was doing everything in her power to stay awake. She can't wait to see it again. Neither can we. We will definitely buy it and probably go see it again.

I do agree with another poster about some of the language in a G rated film.

I took my son to see it on 6/12. His kindergarten graduation was in the morning so it was his "special day" to chose what he wanted to do. Unfortunately, my allergies were acting up so I didn't have the energy to take him to the playground and play like he originally wanted. So, I suggested going to the movies and getting popcorn, candy and a drink - of course, he thought that would be great!!

As other posters stated, the movie was a little long and had some slow parts. But, we have both been quoting the movie ever since. Every time he sees a red car he yells "Ka-Pow". Every time we see a tow truck he yells "Hi Mater!" His favorite parts were when they showed the pit crews for the race cars. We both loved Luigi and his blue "assistant" (Guido??).

We also missed the credits due to the call of nature .... which, I believe gives me the justification to see it again?!?!

I haven't read all of the previous posts yet, but I took my 4 and 7 year olds yesterday as a last-day-of-school treat. We all loved it! There are so many little things that they included for the adults (that the kids just don't even notice) but are so funny. I told my children that we'll have to bring DH back, but partly because I'd like to see it again too! I'll definitely get it when it comes out on DVD.

DD had to use the ladies room when it was over, so I missed the very end (although we did see most of what was shown during the credits). We'll have to stay for the whole ending next time!

Just a quick piece of advice for parents of little ones...I always bring my son's booster seat from the car for my daughter to use. DS is tall enough in the movies to see just fine, but DD needs a little boost. I like using our own because it's cleaner and more comfy for her.
