Each trip I try to pick all new places to try. This is our first time at LeCellier and we were very excited. :cool1: We didn’t order steak anywhere else on our trip, holding out for this special night. That was hard, because I love the steak at Kona….but …….back to LeCellier.

We arrived for our dinner a few minutes early. Our ADR was at 8:30. This was the best time I could get, even after trying for several months. My husband walked up to the lady out front who greets the poor unlucky people with no ADRs, and the few who are lucky enough to have an ADR, and before he could say anything…She said “Sorry, no times available”. My husband trying to be funny….Said “Doege, party of 5”, the nice lady from Canada kept saying, “Sorry” I don’t know why communication broke down here, but those two finally got it worked out and she let us in.

The inside is really beautiful. We were, I think unlucky enough to get a table right by the two doors leading into the kitchen, but it all buffed out, and was fine.

We started the meal off with of course a few drinks. Having heard about the Ice wine, my husband ordered a glass, and I an Ice Wine Martini. Both were fantastic. The wine was so good in fact, my hubby ordered another glass. Now those of you who have dinned at this establishment, or are even just more educated on cost of Ice wine know how much this cost. WE DID NOT! Yea baby, $30.50 worth of wine! Glad we had the DDE card to help out just a bit here. Note to self: No more ice wine once was enough!

The first pic is of the Ice Wine, then the Ice Wine martini, followed by Torontopolitan and then the kids lemonade .

The bread sticks, as so many others have said were great! I had the cheddar cheese soup, and hubby had the shrimp Cocktail on wassabe coleslaw, both were awesome.

I had the Filet with mash potatoes. The steak was very, very tender! Husband had the NY Strip 14oz steak. Excellent as well. I also included the kids pasta and chicken strips. I thought it was a nice touch adding the fruit to the chicken strips.

For dessert, the kids got the Chocolate moose and the Smores. Very cute desserts and the highlight of their meal. Hubby and I split the Maple Crème Brulee.

After the shock from our bill, (Ice Wine is how Much????) we made our way back to the
Monorail and headed to the Poly.

Overall impressions. Excellent food. Great atmosphere, but prefer not sitting by the two kitchen doors. Service was fantastic. We had Katie for our server and she was very on top of things. There are some restaurants that are on my “Will do again even though I have not tried every restaurant in WDW yet list” and this did not make it. Please no flames or harsh words, I liked the food very much, and I’m very glad I tried LeCellier; it was a great dinning experience.

Thank you for the review with the pics! We too tried it once and it is barely on our "maybe we should give it another chance list". Different strokes for different folks.

Glad you enjoyed it. We've had excellent meals there, and then some not-so-good meals there (and pretty much always ordered the same thing!).

I am glad to hear that you had excellent service. The past couple times, we've hardly seen our server, and always had a long wait for drink refills.

Thanks for your review (and the pics to go with it). We've eaten here the last two times we've been down to the World, and found it to be average steaks at above average prices (though DW and I do love the cheddar cheese soup and breadsticks, expecially the sourdough breadsticks). We may go back in the future, probably to try the lunch menu, but the whole combination of good-not-great steaks, loooong wait time for tables (even with ADRs), and service on the slow side just doesn't add up to a very enjoyable experience for us.

I loved the pictures. As for the ice wine cost I am not surprised. Most good Canadian ice wines will run $50 and up a bottle. I love ice wine but limit myself to a glass for dessert on the rare occasion we eat somewhere nice. That seemed like a rather large serving to me which means I will most likely be trying it out on our trip in Sept. Usually, they are served in much smaller amounts than a regular wine glass. Was the $30.50 your whole bar tab or just the wine and martini? If so, maybe I won't be drinking a glass. :sad2:

The $30.50 was just for the 2 - 3oz pours of Ice Wine. I only know it to be 3oz because after the bill came I looked at the wine list just to see if maybe a mistake had been made in our bill tabulation. NOPE! It was correct! :faint:

The Ice Wine Martini was $8.75

Believe me, If we would have looked at the price before we put in the order or even after the second order, we would not have gotten it. NO WAY!! We were shocked! I have read about ICE WINE but never a dollar amount on the stuff. We are not wine people, we like our mixed drinks more, but have read where you have to try the ICE WiNE when you go to LeCellier, just like the cheese soup and bread sticks. So we did! Never again.

I have Le Cellier ADRs and have been wavering for awhile. Every time I see a picture of that tiny filet on top of the teeny potatoes all I can think is "where can I get a snack when I'm done?" I guess it doesn't help that I could care less if I ever ate steak! Anyway I read your Kona review as well and am wondering if you would recommend it over Le Cellier to someone who has been to neither?

My husband had the bigger steak. So if size is your worry go for the big one! I really wanted to go and try the bread sticks and chedder soup, and I am glad I did they were really good.

Now for that question about Kona or LeCellier! JMHO, I like Kona over LeCellier for steak. I have had their steak at Kona and I loved it. Very good, but there was nothing wrong with the Steak at LeCellier.

Thanks for your review and pictures. My husband and I are going in December and I am making our ADR's in a couple weeks. My husband loves a good steak and I was going to make Le Cellier one of the restaurants on my list but after looking at your pictures now I am not sure. We aren't fancy people and aren't much into going to fancypants restaurants where you get a tiny steak, 2 carrots and one potato wedge for dinner.

So my question is, is this a place I should be making an ADR or should I be looking for another restaurant for our day at Epcot. I have been torn on this one for a while but thought we would go and try it but I don;t want to be disappointed and have my husband thinking where can I get a snack after dinner.

Can anyone help me? :confused3  :worried: :thanks:

Well, my husband had the bigger steak, and We were both more than full from this dinner, but we both had appys too. We choose LeCellier for the other food too, not just the steak. The soup, shrimp and bread were all good too. I don't want to pull you in the wrong direction here. Thats all I know to say for fact. Good luck.

1. The breadsticks? Do they bring you three for the whole table?

2. Ice Wine. Despite the price tag, is it a sweet white wine? I am heading to the F&W Festival this year and the Canada booth is one of my first stops for the ice wine and cheese soup. Are they both worth it?

Thank you!

Love your reviews complete with the great pictures. That's exactly what I love about DIS.

Lovemy2girls, Great review and the pictures added so much. I always get the filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes. Even though it looks like a small portion, it is very filling, especially when you have appetizers, drinks, and dessert. Glad you and your family enjoyed your meal.

They brought us 2 sets of breadsticks for the five of us. Then I asked for more when they were gone. No problem. All three are very good, and there is even a story behind each type of bread in relation to Canada, but she was talking way to fast for me to get it all, it was the end of the night for her I think and she was tired of saying that little story.

Yes, that Ice Wine was very, very sweet white wine. I think both are worth it. You get a samller portion at the F&WF, but along with that a smaller price.
We had NEVER tried Ice Wine and wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Now we know! The soup is worth it to. My hubby and I want to go for the food and Wine festival and Canada will be on our stop.

I think Le Cellier is the most overrated restaurant at WDW - tiny portions, gristly steaks, poor service, crowded tables ...

<<<<<<NOT!>>>>>>

I hadn't seen any dissenting views here yet, and thought I'd post one, just for kicks. But I didn't have the heart to. 'Cause we purely love LC as the best of the World Showcase options, and while I'd grant that it's possible to hit it on an off night, it's never happened to us.

We're fans; glad to hear so many others think it's good, too.

I made a meal one time of breadsticks, a small salad, cheddar cheese soup, and creme brulee for dessert. I only liked 2 of the breadstick varieties (pretzel was the best), and every time I ran out, they'd bring me more. I must have gone through 4 orders of pretzel breadsticks. Yum!!
LeCellier is one of my favorite restaurants at WDW.

Thanks so much for the review and the photos, it gives us something to look forward to when we dine there for the 1st time on the 28th!

Was the shrimp on the wasabi coleslaw seasoned? I was thinking of ordering that but since I'm allergic to eggs, the coleslaw part might be out. I'm hoping the shrimp had a good flavor....or I might try to tomato stack since it will be so hot. Do alot of people eat the soup in the summer? I'm afraid we might be to hot to try the soup....decisions, decisions!!

We're on the dining plan so I don't think we can go wrong, really with the choices we have. :)

The ice wine is absolutely a must try at the F&W it is a rather sweet wine because the grapes are left on the vines until the first freeze of the season and then they are picked which is done to $75 which isnt really that bad. have fun and enjoy oh yeah the cheddar cheese soup is also really great dont know if I would do both at the same time without some water to clean the taste of the soup out before having the wine

Ice wine is made from grapes after they have had a frost on them. They are super sweet and you don't need much of it.
We're from Canada so we've had it quite alot and forget about others thinking it so unusual. Haha
It is yummy though.

Just in case anyone really cares.
Canada’s cool climatic conditions enable it to be the largest ice wine producer in the world. The grapes for ice wine must be gathered and pressed at a temperature not higher than –8oC. Although both Germany and Austria are large ice wine producers, their climates are not as consistently cold as is Canada’s to guarantee ice wine production every year. Canada produces over 2 million 375ml bottles of ice wine annually. The average price of C$45/bottle in Canada will go as high as C$220 in Japan

I had almost the same opinion of Le Cellier as the op. I had that filet for my entree and I couldn't finish it. When you consider the appetizer (I had the beef kabob), plus drinks, bread sticks, potatoes, etc, it was impossible for me to finish my meal. My dh did a fairly good job on his strip steak but he didnt' finish either! I think the filet is 7 oz, that's pretty respectable size. It was tasty but not "WOW" tasty, I think.

If you were to choose between the Ice wine and the Ice wine martini, which would be your preference? I love both wine and martinis but tend to stick to drier reds although would be willing to try just to say I tried. Does this make sense?? :rotfl2: As far as martinis go, I am a Cosmo girl, so which did you prefer?

They are both very different from each other. A poster said on this thread that she would have Ice Wine with dessert, and I can see that. We are not very wine educated people, believe me so I don't know a thing about it, although I have learned a lot from this thread about it! Ice Wine is very sweet. The Ice Wine Martini was more Vodka than Ice wine not sweet at all so that is about all I can say on that. I don't think I will have either again, kind of been there tried that. So I say Try them both! :)

They also produce it in Upstate NY where I'm from , and here at least the Ice Wine is not served with your meal. It is considered a dessert wine much the same as Sherry. So, don't replace your usual dinner wine, but try it afterwards. :)

ITA and the prices here are not quite as high as what we'd pay in a restaurant in WDW! Phew when I saw that amount I popped a cork, lol!

it is truly a great thing to try though and I'd recommend wine-drinkers and non win-drinkers try it, most of our friends who don't like wine end up liking ice wine because of the sweetness. :)

This will be our first time at LeCellier on our trip in August. We are going for dinner and I had a question re: the 7oz Filet with the maple bbq sauce. Ok for all you steak purists, please stop reading now. I like my steak well done, very little to no pink..those of you who have had this, do you think it would be difficult to get this. I'm wondering if it's so thick that's impossible. TIA for the tips.

If you want to be on the safe side and be sure it's well done w/o being totally hard as a rock, you can ask them to butterfly it when you order it.

The one I had a couple weeks ago was thick, but not 2 inches thick so I'd imagine it would be easy to prepare it well without butterflying.

Now that you said that, that is exactly what our server said to us, "butterflying" . I didn't know what it meant, just shows what I know. Nothing much. Who knew Ice wine was a dessert wine? Not us either. She must have thought we were a table of real winners! :lmao: I do know this. I liked LeCellier, it was a very good steak and nice place to eat. :goodvibes
