Inverted Rides - which ones

I panic at rides that take you upside down - we leave June 16th for our first trip to DLP - can anyone tell me which rides make you go upside down so I can avoid them?

3 rides in DLRP go upside down.

They are...

Space Mountain Mission 2 - in Disneyland Park
Indiana Jones et du temple du peril - in Disneyland Park
Rock and Rollercoaster - in Walt Disney Studios

You may also want to avoid Cyber Space Mountain, in the Disney Channel Tour at the Studios.

Indianna Jones has one loop, it's quite tame really especially now it's running forwards again.

RocknRoller Coaster (WDS) has 3 inversions, rollover and a corkscrew but it's all over very quickly.

and Space Mountain has 360 degree "sidewinder" loop, Corkscrew, and an 80 degree "tongue" loop - I've never been able to pluck up enough courage to ride it, got this info off the web.

I don't like the loop-de-loop rides either and generally avoid them like the plague. I did go on the Indiana Jones ride during my first visit - I forgot it did the double loop and at that time it still went backwards. Boy did I regret that memory lapse :teeth: :rotfl: The very nice Frenchman who sat next to me thought it was hysterical - this mad English woman squealing her silly head off!

I don't mind a rough-ish ride on a coaster but I don't like going upside down.

I had ridden space mountain twice before I realised it went upsidedown. It is dark and fast and the first time I didn't realise.

"Anyway in answer to what's a "Tongue" loop it is another name for a "CUTBACK"
This element consists of a single inversion starting like a corkscrew but after the apex of the turn the track cuts left or right instead of continuing forward. The effect is an abrupt direction change of about 180 degrees. "

We had annual passports when "Indiana Jones et du temple du peril" went upside down and backward. Once was enough for me.

Actually, the "Tongue" is the mildest of the three - in fact it only just counts as being upside down. Imagine a very highly banked turn and then take it a little bit further so that you're at slightly more than 90 degrees to the horizon (if your head is just very slightly lower than your feet at any time, even by an inch, it is officially an inversion). It then rolls back out the other way, so that you never complete a loop or anything.

It's the Corkscrew and the Sidewinder parts of the ride that actually take you head over heels and round again. It's why most people who ride Space Mountain think that there are only two inversions - because they only feel themselves go fully upside-down twice.

Both times I've rideen it my head has been bashed about and I've had an acheing neck for the rest of the day:guilty:

DS actually spent half a day in the (fantastic) Medical centre with whiplash - so I don't think he'll be riding it again.

glewis1123 - I think everyone here is correct - avoid the coasters but enjoy everything else!

I've heard many times this complaint about Space Mountain at DLRP.

By the way, Space Mountain at Disneyland in California was renovated last year and it is absolutely wonderful -- faster, longer, smoother, darker, louder, and colder. Highly recommended.

I love Space Mountain, but even I don't find it the most comfortable of rides. The shoulder restraints seem to be set too low for me and so I either have to not pull them all the way down and be loose, or have my shoulders bash into them ten or so times during the ride. If this happens then I can't ride it twice in a row as they are too sore.

I'm not particularily tall (6 foot) and Rock n' Roller Coaster I have no problems with (plus all the coasters I've ridden in Florida), so it just must be something with the way the seats are on this ride.

hi everyone - thank you all for the info.

Space Mtn in DL in Calif is really awesome since it was renovated - we live about 4 hr drive away so we go down 5 or 6 times a year - and we go to WDW about twice per year since we own DVC.

Still not sure about space mtn dlp - hubby says I have to - no choice - yeah right lol - done Rock n Rollercoaster once - that was enough - lol - mission space - eventhough its not a roller coaster - never again -

I'll probably try Indiana Jones if I don't chicken out lol

We're so excited about this trip - its really a trip in a lifetime for us - eventhough we're only there for 2 nights then off to Italy to go visit the village my grandparents immigrated from in the early 1900's.

Figured we had to get to DLP since it will probably be our only trip to Europe in a long time.

I go on the rides with inversions over and over again, never had problems with head and/ or back pain.

I do make sure I'm wearing a sweater when I go on it during summer-time, and not just wearing a tank top, because otherwise, the skin on my shoulders hurt from the restraints.
