Does anyone who has gotten back recently remember if they still have the press penny machines and the press penny books to collect them?
If they do where do you go to get the books?

The penny machines are still around as well as the books my 3 daughters just filled up their books. They love going back and looking at them and talking about where they got them.
:) :bounce: :)

Thanks Mom Poppins!
Thank goodness they are still around. My boys will love doing that opposed to the autograph books. That's Mom's weakness.:o

We just got back yesterday. We are now pressed penny junkies!!! We picked up the books at our OKW store but they sell them all over the place. Everywhere we went the kids were looking for the machines. Bring lots of new pennies with you and lots of quarters to pay for the new penny you're going to press!!!

Can someone tell me about how many pennies the pressed penny books hold.
I think my son will enjoy doing this on our next trip. I want to orderthe book before
we go.

The WDW book I have unfolds to reveal four pages. ($6 in January)
Three pages hold 12 pressed pennies each. the fourth page holds six pressed quarters.

So the press penny machine is 25 cents each? I'll bring a couple of rolls of quarters. Need to be sure to get those books too.

Actually the pressed penny machines are 50 cents plus the penny you put in to get crushed. Bring new pennies - they look much better when you put in brand new pennys. The penny book holder are $6.00 in case anyone is wondering. It's alot of fun and make great keep sakes.

Pressed coins are my new "obsession". I got hooked a few ago and wanted to collect them all.
I first got the pressed penny books but later sold them because I just had too many coins. I ended up putting them in a 3 ring binder
And somebody mentioned using new pennies. This is what I used to use until I found out that pennies made after 1962 are made with zinc and the zinc will smear over time. So if you can, get some pre-1962 new pennies. I get mine on EBay for abut $3.00/roll. This may seem extreme to some people but I want these coins to look good for many many years. They are great.
I can't wait to go this week. I see from the list there are a lot of new 2001 coins, mostly quarters. Whoo Hoo!

Looked at your Smashed Coin page. WOW! Really great stuff. I can't believe you have so many. I knew this would be a really good thing to do. Can't wait.:p

I've collected a lot of pressed pennies at WDW but my favorite has to be the freebie at MK. It doesn't have any design and is "just" a flattened penny. However, it's made when a Disney train passes over a penny. You can make one while backstage on the Keys to the Kingdom tour.

This is one of the best things my dd and I have done. Last time we spent the afternoon Resort hopping to get a few coins that we didn't have.. It is a great thing for kids to collect. My dd is now a teen and still looking forward to going in April and getting more...Have fun!
