Hi,
Will I need to bring a seat belt clip with me to properly fasten my son's car seat into the airline seat? I don't want the car seat to be able to move about if my son tries to thrash around while in the car seat

No, you shouldn't need yout locking clip. Airline seatbelts have a locking mechanism built in so they dont loosen up with motion. Have a safe flight.

I have never had any problem with the airplane seatbelt that required a locking clip. However, we always keep it clipped on the back of the seat because our rental car always seems to need one!

You need locking clips for shoulder-type seat belts, not the lap-type seat belts. So ... you won't need one on the airplane, but you might on your rental car or limo.
